I don't really think I'm the best, but I feel its the mindset one should take when entering space PvP. The "I'm the best" theory lets you relax and have no worries, because the moment you get scared you're going to mess up, panic, or worst of all stop having fun. You can always get blown up, re-examine your tactics, and come back to preserve your image.
In my experience, this is the only mindset one can have to be sucessful using a POB ship. You have to be cocky and confident to get a crew to work together and efficiently repair and shoot while you're doing an evasive backflip after being confident enough to do a drive by on those two vettes.
Humility is great (as nearly every single poster has attempted to demonstrate
) but remember- nobody is infallable in space. Except you.

As PvP goes i find theres two schools of attitude that im aware of.
1.) Think your good, beleive your the best, if you dont youve already lost the fight.
2.) The instant you think your good, you're not.
3.) other
I tend to subscribe to the second one. Reverse phsycology really. WHen i think im good, i get cocky and i make mistakes. When i think im up against someone who's probably better then me, i get a little nervous and scared, i never underestimate, and i tend to fly/fight that much harder.
Which do you subscribe to? Or do you subscribe to another mode of thought im not listing?
One of those, "im bored" posts
Edited for poor wording.

I'd have to go with #3. I know I'm good but I also know there's always a bigger fish. I treat each pilot like they are that bigger fish even if I've dusted them 100 times. You never know who has been practicing or who finally got that insane engine RE'd.

I don't think that I'm that good. But I also don't think anyone else is that good, either. PvP in SWG is a little different from physics-heavy sims like IL-2 Sturmovik or Falcon 4.0. There are a legion of people in either the prop or jet simulations that could kick my butt.
The "attitude" I have is that I just want to have fun. The last time I was shot down, I was in a Heavy X against a JSF and Tie Oppressor (packing trilinked IR2s). I kept my S foils closed during the entire engagement just to see how long I could last on the defensive. It was maybe half a minute or so with the Oppressor around. Who knows how long it would have been had I been using my JSF.
As a sim geek buddy (who's ex military) is fond of saying, "There is only one 'Hard Core' setting, and it involves a recruiter."
