Um, 15 mil XP is not all that difficult, or time consuming. Try in the realm of 40-60 mil and it might be an ok idea. Really though, there are not many pilots here complaining it is too tough, many are soloing it from all factions.

This is the first flight game I have played in literaly years, I can solo the vette...couldn't the first 8-10 times I tried to solo one, but I figured it out, tweaked the droid and ship like many here have already explained...and just got better at playing the game.

Not sure why you want this for free, 15 mil pilot XP is not much of a time investment for a Master profession.

I think the main thing you are experiencing here is the difference between a standard RPG and a twitch game. Sure, in a standard MMO you can do an easy grind to almost anything if you want, and here there is a different skill gate which is frustrating you. *shrug* different skill sets, and honestly, the skill set and time investment to master pilot is a pretty low bar.

I remember seeing your Tier4 thread, what, a couple days ago? maybe a week? Doesn't sound like you tried much really, can't say though...you may have tried this 5-10 times a day, but it does not sound like it.

I am curious if things like...oh, say Jedi XP should be dropped by a factor of 20 so that me, as a casual player can get to knight too. Or maybe I should just have to kill as many monsters in number as the rest, so i can sit around slaying nuna's and the powergamers can go kill krayts, because I want to be jedi too, and it is not fair that I can't have an easy way out?

You may not mean to, but that is how you are coming across. It is hard, and rightfully so.

For the record, I have done the vette solo as imp, as imp without Bstrike, and as privateer. Bstrike was easiest, with Privateer a close second.

Actually, the funny thing is, I'M the average pilot, not the elitist. Read all the posts that talk about the vette being to easy. The player that thinks it's to hard is not average, they are the minority. You can't tell me it didn't feel good to watch that giant hunk of junk blow up. You found someone to help ya....so what, it's still hard either way. The only reason I soloed it is because I am impatient and didn't want to wait for someone else.

With all that said, until your last post, I didn't think you were actually whining, I was talking about the others that were whining. The only reason I even said anything at all is because these games have a tendancy to playing towards the complainers, and that annoys me. So I wanted to make sure the voice of the opposition was voiced in this post is all.

It really is all about practice. Learn how your ship moves. It gets to be second nature killing stuff. In fact, if you fly enough you can talk on the phone and take tier 4 TIE swarms one handed using a keyboard/mouse for about as long as you want or until your wrist gets tired lol. I dropped Master Pilot and got rebel ace in 3 days + 1 for the vette. I did most of it on my own, but I am in a pilot guild that flies because we all love it so they jumped in and helped out on the last couple of Tier 4s. AS far as the vette goes, I think I have helped fly about 20 of those. I am not real good at the strategy behind sneaking in the blindspot and killing it that way. I prefer a straight fight to all that sneaking around, heh... So i usually leave that up to those that have gotten it down to a science, but i love taking out the support ships and the gun boats, so if you are ever need help on Sunrunner, (where there does not seem to be a pilot shortage) look for the SWOOP tag and the Scythe Squadron will be there if possible.

Gotta agree.

While it may be acceptable to say "Get a group", it isn't that easy for some of us.

I am an Aussie playing on Tempest, the local times I play are from about 9PM to 11PM, which equates to 2 AM to 4AM server local time in the US.

It is very lonely in space at that time and trying to find someone to group with is near impossible.

I would gladly gather 25 million xp instead of tackling the 'vette all alone......again.

Likewise, I absolutley agree. There should be an alternative XP only method available to everyone for getting thru such missions, even if it's at a highly increased rate over the normal Exp. requirements (If andwhen there are any, that is). The various reasons stated by others are more than sufficient enough thatthere should be alternative(s) to getting thru them, instead of just one path that not everyone can take as easily as another may be able to.

I can't wait to see how the corvette is ... I think I'll be standing off a bit, and do a first run with less than the best components (and be ready to simply break off). At the moment, I'm 3/3/3/3, so it will be a while yet ... I like the X-Wing, but the mass restrictions are starting to hurt carrying about that 20k gun, I may have to change things up a bit.

1st, you're right, sometimes words do get misconstrued. I am obviously at least partially to blame for this post taking on a negative tone, for that I appoligise. I think the thing that actually annoys me the most is not the people whatsoever, it's the fact that people in this game as a whole feel they have the "right" to be master at everything. They don't (or can't) do it the way everyone else does or has, so therefore, they need to water down the game so that everyone can have fun. It's that premise that annoys me, more so then anything else. The worst part being that the devs will likely do it cuz they don't wanna be the bad guys. I guess my question is, if people don't want to do the mission, or don't have the abilityfor whatever reason, why do they really want to be a pilot? What does it matter if you're master pilot, there is only one place you can't go without master, and if you think the vette is hard.....you don't want to be there anyways. The only thing you don't get are the master level ships, which, for the most part, are not as good as the lower tier ships. You rarely use high level components, so that's not it. And the skills you get are minimal (cept Imps, but if you can't do it as an imp, you really don't deserve it). Anywho, I digress. Flame on, I won't respond anymore, I feel I have said my peace.

Well what bothers me is end-to-end extremists with extreme attitudes about the whole thing. So there

Seriously though, someone saying they solo'd the vette, or that it's easy, or whatever, may or may not be gloating or trying to make you feel small because you can't. But nine times out of ten they're not, they're either proud of what they did or trying to offer you encouragement of some sort.
A lot of the people posting that they can't are not whining, they're venting their frustration. And you can't tell me that if you'd spent days or weeks hung on something like this you wouldn't be equally frustrated.

The problem lies in the interpretation when read.... or poorly chosen words when typed.

In either case "the benefit of the doubt" is a good rule to follow.

Someone earlier basically accused me of being "full of myself" I suppose you'd say, having misinterpreted my trying to offer help on how to go about soloing the beast and her hellspawn... so? I let it slide, there's no need to address it, they're frustrated and I'd just be adding to that.

This discussion went that waya few posts back, and while I try to stay out of that kind of thing, I have read posts by some of you and respect your opinions, and I don't like to see it come to this.

So take a deep breath, step back, and try to show some manners befitting a gentleman or a lady, whichever you may be, before a mod comes in and locks it down, due to the flames sure to follow.

Eilla,

Glad to hear you beat the vette. I also read your post about the gunship mission being too hard. You really have to understand that the devs did not intend mastering pilot to be a walk in the park, or just a huge grind session. Personally I love the gated mission approach, took me almost a month to master rebel pilot, and now I am thinking seriously of dropping it so I can do the other 2 squads plus the 3 neutral squads. The best times I had in JTL so far was flying with a couple buddies to nail one of these gated missions. So sometimes we would die horribly a couple times before figuring it out and being able to beat it, but it beat the hell outta grinding alone. The gated missions provide a real challenge to your skills, and beating these missions makes you a better pilot, period. Now you need to go to Deepspace and hunt for other players, or try to find some imps (or rebels, don't remember what faction you are) to meet you there, so you can PvP and get REALLY good. Anyone can grind 7.5 million or 15 mill, or 100 million exp killing fighters, that does not make you an ace...it makes you a jedi (had to get a jedi jab in as I despise the fact they are in this game)

In conclusion, please consider that the gated missions have forced you to grow and learn tactics, something you will not learn from fighting the same fighter AI 100,000 times

I'd have to agree whole heartedly. The problem these days is finding enough people to go up against the vette with you. Now that the JTL rush has died down, and there are a lot less people who actively do it, I think the vette missions need to be looked at; especially since many eople don't even deal with JTL period, let alone have a ship left. It brings back memory of one of the missions in FFXI where you had to gater 18 people if you wante dto get another 5 levels. What helps there, was the fact that everyone did the same mission no matter what job they were. With the Vette's, we've got too different groups of people, but VERY few people who actually need to do it, and VERY few people who want help (I finally found a great band of folks on LOWCA).

It's funny on how Lowca all the helpful people are outspoken; you tend to get more people like the one in my post for help on the Lowca glaxy forums. The guy basically said you're not a master pilot unless you solo the vette. It's just annoying when you can't get a group together, as was intended with the mission, and then you have people like this being jerks.

I have to apologies as I'm was the obvious target of your last post.

I in no means ment to belittle you..

The fact is I am proud that I'm an Ace, and this is the second time you've called for a nurf just because you couldn't get to master. There is little content after master as it is and I don't want it to become watered down because a minority of pilots cannot do it. It would belittle every other ace that has done thevette if it was nurfed because it would be a minor obstacle to the rest of the community that haven't done it, killingour accomplishment.

As another postermentioned I agree that master pilot should besomething that is hard to get, and something that is not deserving of everyone.. if yourjust a fair pilot you shouldn'tget the title...you say that it should go on xp?Should you get your driving licence because your logged ahundred hours of lessons but couldn't pass the6-7 driving test you took???

As for training 1121 pilot.. yes he may take a week to train up and assist you, but you've stated there are no pilots on the server.. ? or every master you've asked cannot or will not help you.. but there you are at the top now.. not assisting someone below you.. you've become what your complaining about.. ! maybe I've got the wrong end of the stick .. maybe you are helping now.. becoming that pilot that does assist the lower pilots..

All I'm saying is.. don't cry nurf cause YOU find it hard, maybe a few others do to, but many on here don't. The vette isn't hard once you know what your doing, as with the rest of the game you have to know your target not hope blind firing will do it for you.I died many a time whenI first went against it... butI got back on the sadle and tried again..
