Thread: The 'vette: a study in absurdity
It really annoys me to hear people saying the Vette is too easy because they can solo it. A lot of us out there can't solo the vette, and a lot of us have a very hard time finding a group for the vette. After the changes they made where the vette moves (and too quickly might I ad) it is a lot hard to solo it because you can't stay in that blind spot like everyone used to.
On Lowca there is not so much a shortage of pilots as there are a shortage of rebel/freelance pilots who still play JTL. This severely limits the ability for people to find a group for the vette. Not to mention most pilots on Lowca won't help you if you ask, I have met very few who will. I really think they need to rebalance the Vette (I'm not sure making it soloable would fix the issue) for the new conditions. Those conditions being very few people play JTL compared to when it was released, and very few people tend to want to help out.
"Responding to the bold part...:
I did the toughest Imperial squadron solo in 4 days, upgrading every single thing I could as I went along, and I died plenty.
I've dropped it and gone Privateer (to get Imperial parts, go figure), and I did it all in a day without dying once; I had to wait for another day to do the vette because the spawn was broken.
Worse, I did all the way up to (and including) my first tier3 mission in a Scyk (n00b ship), the rest of 3 and first 4 in the lvl2 light (can't remember the name off the top of my head), and for kicks at 4-4-4-4 i built a Kihraxz for the extra gun, which I used to solo the Imperial Corvette. (That was the only challenge in the whole tree).
Heavily in favor of the Imperials? Hardly.
The only person I know that has done all 9 trees stated that without a doubt, imperial were the hardest trees to do, excepting the imperial corvette, which he could do solo but "actually requires caution" were his words.
IMO you simply improved in skills, and know better what to fit."
We know how good of a pilot you are, but sorry, some of us aren't that good nor have the talent! I am sure you played many flight sims previously for long periods of time, a lot of us have not! Just because you can solo it with ease doesn't mean the rest of us can some how after a small amount of practice solo it. I think it is more feasible to let people grind out the 7.5 million xp then tell them to practice for months at trying to solo the vette. Not to mention the number of deaths increasing the cost for buying new ships every few days.
Guess what I'll have to do is go find someone on the server who makes cuncussion missle launchers/missle and proton missle launchers/missle and stock my kimogila up with every piece of ordinance I can and just blow some cash trying to solo the vette. Not to mention after my past couple vette runs the chassis is down to 903 >.<

I don't think it's solo - able anymore. The vette has a new pilot. He is very drunk. The whole ship is bobbleing all over the place. It looks so bad, like they fixed it, or nerfted it. There is no "safe underside" anymore. The thing walbles so bad it is smacking the heck out of the two gun boats. The gun boats get so out of wack from there flight path that from a far it looks like a dis-a-ray of ships Tubbling through space, being held in a small sphere of glass. * picture a christmas snowball* with ships inside and being shakin, and moving in a a flight path. (Over all, it looks so un-natural)
I invite all kessel to see this drunken pilot. I wish I goten ACE before this nerf.
side note : Anyone else see this happending on your server?
side note #2: Anyone one Kauri want to kill the rebel vette with me? contact Elba or Olba.
Yes I have noticed this to. I like to go out and escort the vette with my rebel alt and fight off attacking npcs. You should try flying formation with it!!
I know it's SOE's policy to try and get players to group and interact together but I don't think the mission based pilot profession is very fair.
Standing outside a starport spamming for pilots just isn't fun.
1. You do NOT have to take out the shields on the Corvette before you take out the guns! Always take out the weapons of captital ships first, then you can work the shields down at your leisure.
2. Trade some droid programs around. You should have engine overload 3, capacitor overload 3, weapon overload 3, and engine to sheild shunt 3 or 4. If you don't have them, get them and learn to use them before you make another attempt. You'll be shocked at the difference.
Hope that helps

YES it is a test of skill to see if your worthy.. obviously the bloke that sounds like he did it for you carried you over to side of master. What I want to know is if there such a lack of pilots.. ? Why aren't you helping them lv up to assist you.. ? this guy who was 1121 why didn't you assist him.. get him up to a lv where he could help you and your friends that were to scared to conquer the vette,, instead of whining on here?I aced within the first week of launch.. when I got stuck (which only happened on the last 2 tier 4 missions) and there was no one around I helped other gains the skills to help me.. and help themselves.. and within a day or so I had a 6 plus man team ready to go.Please no more crying out about how hard it is.. because for true aces its already to simple.
There are a lack of pilots because very few people play JTL anymore, and most who once played have sold their ships or gotten rid of them. Oh, and on some servers, master pilots just aren't damn friendly. I had a buddy ask someone for help killing the rebel vette, and the master pilot litterly told him to f*** off.

The Corellian Corvette is still completely soloable without bomber strike. It's incredibly easy to do so with missiles, even when the Vette makes its irradic movements. The trick to it is to come in on pass one and take out either shield, if you can't get a missile lock on the shields through these irradic movements, I question how you made it this far in pilot. Capacitor overcharge/CSS are a must.
With CSS, you can see to it that you take absolutely no damage per pass, just get in, hit it, boost out on the fastest route you can get away, usually straight ahead on a run at it from the side. I like to take out the engines before I work on the guns, so a second pass on the shields is a must, just CSS when your shields are almost gone, the engines aren't that hard to get in a single run with guns blazing, so you don't even have to launch a missile.
By this point, you've launched 4 missiles, downed both shields, and destroyed the engines, now start working on the turrets. With the engine destroyed, you no longer have to worry about irradic movements, and can blow turret #5 with 2 missiles or guns if you're daring. I like to go for it with guns, personally. Now, you've used a total max of 6 missiles, you've still got plenty, target the reactor and launch 2 missiles from underneath, no more reactor. From this point, get ready for your final run against the vette, target the bridge and come in low, when you're close enough to get a tone, point straight at the bridge, launch the missiles and turn straight down and boost, CSS if you must, you've just blown up the vette.
If you are a Privateer, this gets even easier, as your first 2 passes can be covereb by calling in the pirates to get the guns off of you long enough for pass number one, allowing you to boost off in a direction that will set you up perfectly for your second run. Right now, the engine is about the only thing that needs to go on the vette to make it much easier, and I've done this technique many times with no failure, in fact, I went into Deep space with 36 missiles, downed 11 Corvettes before I was called out to assist with a mission, and still havd over 20 missiles left. It takes a few runs to get the hang of exactly how to go about running against the Vette, but once you do it right on one pass, you will realize what went right and the corvette will eventually come to an simple 43k prestigue for a 3-5 minute fight.
perhaps you should justactually read the problem fora bit before answering,
First NO freelance ship premaster has 2 launch tubes
Second you refer to having 36 missiles which being as I've never seen a stack over 12 you have 3 launch tubes implying you are not freelance so how would you know(only TIE opp, decimator and nova have 3)
Thirdyou talk about prestige so your doing as a master pilot not a 4444 which can be a huge difference
Forth pirate trap 2 bring 2 tier 1 pirates they're gonna last long also they come to your location so if not on top of vette useless stick to Iff scramble to help more
Fifth when giving advice put yourself in they're shoes and offer solutions not thump you chest and talk about how UB3R 1337 JOO R and how easy what they want help with is.

hmm. Have 4 Privateers in My guild all ace. Soloed the vette 3 of them. the fourth we took out the gunboats by the time we did he had the Vette down to kill the bridge.
didn't say couldn't be done since I've done it myself but that's not the point I have no real suggestions for someone who can't get a group together and can't solo.
also you say WE not I so you weren't part of 3rd person reference to others soloing and you were there in a group choose your words wisely because I believe this isn't what you mean
