Thread: Ok then. That was almost too fun for PvE

I'd like to get something out there soon too. I'd like some feedback to help make the filming better since this was really my biggest foray into it. Unually, I am a participant and I set FRAPS to take a screenie every 10 seconds. That way, I get lots of shots and can still play without my FPS getting killed. As it was last night, I only had 1-2 areas of lag. But, I also didn't have my HUD up or was I firing any. So, the amount of data wasn't like it would have been if I had been fighting as well.

Personally, I wouldn't fraps if you were flying. I don't think it'd make very good footage with having the HUD up, but if you like, we can take it in turns to fraps things and I'll fraps next time? In fact..if you frappsed the Rebel missions, I'll fraps the Imperial ones . Hows that for inter-faction relationships?
I don't have a server though for me to upload them onto though =/. I'm not overly technological...just full of ideas.

Anyway, yeh I suggest numberlock. I just gave it another go and it seems the most accurate way.

A single YT on 'that' mission? Wow.

Well that event sounds like it was almost too awesome to believe. Me thinks I'll need to figure out a way to get my character on SS to go Rebel so I can join in on one of these excursions.

I can already tell you're a much better flier than I am. I'm perfectly content with being a cameraman..for now. Besides, it lets me study as well. I think it would be good to have a combination of shots from the cockpit at the same time as externals. With good editing, that could be awesome. As far as uploading, I might be able to bring up another Temp server if needed.

This is a great idea. I've been looking for a challenging first large-scale PVE experience to execute for my guild's fledgling squadron and this sounds like just the ticket. It'll be a nice warm up to Lord Cssyk, and eventual PVP events.

Can anyone recommend a good FRAPS 101 infosource?

As far as FRAPs, there are just a few things really. Make sure your machine and video card have as much memory as possible. If at all possible, the FRAPS user should NOT also fight. FRAPS can kill your FPS. Make sure your FRAPS machine has plenty of space. Also, if you don't plan to use the sound, don't record it. Other than that, you need to run lots of experiments to see what will work best. Look at all the options. There is also another product called gamecam (google it for the http). I'm not sure how good it is. But, the community support for it seems to be better. Any tips they give probably have a 99% chance of applying to FRAPS as well.

Like I said, we always took too long to kill the gunboats and time-out failed, but yeah, we did survive. And theres no more immersive experience than trying to evade missles, gunners blasting away, while screaming over voicechat for someone to hurry up and repair the ruptured conduit and give you a shunt to rear shields. It's one of the only actually challenging missions for a well trained POB crew, and I can't WAIT to give it another shot once the new POB parts come in.

Sounds like a fun event. I like the idea of no relics, but allowing Heavy Z95s and Advanced X-Wings.

While I have taken people out to run this Duty as a group, we had no ship limitations and ended up with JSF/Bel-22 fighters and one or more Krayts providing punch.

Last time, there was at least one X-Wing too. For some reason, they kept taking trips back to the Kash station. I'm not sure why...

Aivo/Buzzbot: If you need a break from groundpounding sometime, I'm sure we could muster up a group from our respective pilot organizations.

I'd actually think it would be cool to see a 'fleet' of POBs try to tackle this. You might even see some inter faction cooperation. Basicly something like a fleet of Decimators and YTs with anyone and everyone filling in as gunners. That would be a movie .

Well, in the In Character mission brief I provided (made up off the top of my head at Tyrena starport ) I said we were out to crush the Ghrag. Well, I thought since there is so much interested, I'll develop this into some kidn of mini-Ghrag war.

The premise is that the Ghrag are encroaching on Alliance 'safe' spots in the Galaxy without knowing, but the danger is that if they stumble upon an Alliance base, they'll tell the Empire and the fact that these bases cannot stand up to even the attack of a single Stardestroyer. Since the Alliance are obviously present around these systems (due to them launching missions every day etc) the Ghrag know they're there but aren't sure exactly where so the Alliance must eliminate them. In future, depending on interest I'll probably mix in that the Empire are alerted but too don't know where the Alliance are etc. Very rough atm.

However, getting back to the point of why I quoted this post. Yes, I agree 100%, what better way to test the new POB equipment in pve than this mission? I'd be more than up for that. YT's and Novas...hell even VTs would be cool .

I've been looking at all the footage again and it reminded me of a 'quirk' I saw. I have 'auto level' on and for some reason it kept leveling me to the opposite of the YT. Has anyone else seen where different factions auto level differently? I'm pretty sure the YT was auto leveling as well because the weird situation is too common to be luck. I also seem to have leveled opposite of the X-Wing a lot but that isn't as obvious. The B wings always seem to be on track with my 'level'. I was in a TIE advanced in case that is what causes the quirk.

Having been in one of the turrets, I don't believe the YT was auto-leveling. It's possible the Pilot leveled in relation to the gunboats, but I do not remember much of it otherwise. On the other hand, having been in one of the turrets, I also might be in a poor position to notice such a thing.
