Thread: Pilot=Force Sensitive xp = Jedi

That's a good point. Sad fact is that most the people who buy ebay Jedi can't play them... and it isn't like it's all that hard to play Jedi.

It would infect space with one of the worst things about the ground game, and it would be a sad day if it happens.Besides, with no known cap on Prestige, you would make a serious end run around one of the designs of the Village system, multiple trips there. Even with a horrid conversion rate, you could fly for weeks, only going to the village to get your unlocks, and train them up all at once. Don't tell me you think the peeps wouldn't take serious advantage of that? *chuckles*
The ace bonus is actually only applied to Pilot xp which is very different from Pilot Prestige. After making ace a pilot earns only pilot prestige which does not recieve a bonus from ace's. Pilot XP from climbing the tree however does. I think have a conversion for pilot prestige to fs xp is fair assuming that the ratio is high enough to be comparable to spending the same amount of time on the ground.

Yeah, read carefully please, I know the difference between the two. The OP wasnt specific and so I covered both bases. Like I said, I dont want Devs to waste time testing out what a fair conversion is, there's so much Space needs more than this,. Part ofmaking it workable and fairmeans Presitge must be capped, and I for one dont want to give up my multi millions of prestige for the sake of FS grinders. I want to be able to use it on special missions, zones, ships, and perks, not a boring system implementedto placate whining powergamers.
There's a reason the name changes from Experience to Prestige. It gives a hint as to what the devs intend for it. After acheiving Ace, its a sign of standing amongst your fellow pilots, not a guage of what you know. On the ground applying experience to Force Sensitivity shows a progression inhowfurther study leads you to refine your skills in that area. In space prestige isa social currency, like stamping confirmed killsunder your cockpit window, or being named a Top Gun.Just because it hasn't been implemented yet, doesnt mean I want to forsake it, especially for something of zero benefit to a pilot, and especially because I dont think they will never develop it, they just havent yet.
You proponents are sayingthat space related points should be able to be applied to a ground related segment of the game, and I say I want my space related points to apply to a space related segment of the game. You're selling yourselves down the river by asking for this. Its not a win win. It will take dev time from the things we really want, it will bring people and behaviors into space that a lot ofpeople have forsaken the ground game to avoid.
The majority of 'no conversion' proponents are little more than anti-jedi pilots.
FS exp (which is not Jedi Exp), is a measurement of how well/much one plays the game. Having ANY portion of the game that cannot be measured or converted in this fashion is an oversight. Pilot Prestige is post-master content, and presently is worth Deep Space entry only. I can enter deep space once a day for the next year and a half, and not use up my Prestige.
'Use of developer time' is a non-issue. Think about it, we're talking about adding virtually no code to the game. They add that exp type to the database, and set the converstion rate. All applicable systems are already in game.
'Keep space pristine'... you mean keep space underpopulated? I can sympathize, but I can't endorse it. Keeping space underpopulated keeps it out of the developers' view.
And for the record, I'm a Jedi. I'm a completed-template Jedi. I'm a Freelance Master Pilot, and I mastered pilot with a hell of a lot more enthusiasm than I did Jedi. I love space. I love outfitting my ship. I love being a Jedi. I ask for NO JEDI POWERS/EFFECTS in space. Never have. I'm not in favor of a 'jedi only' chassis. Don't want it, don't need it.
As I've said before, let's call a spade a spade; some of you hate the Jedi system, fine. But the majority of the logical problems with FS/Prestige conversion can be easily addressed.
I love the space expansion but there is really nothing more for me to do out there, but a space conversion to FS xp would be a hell of a lot more fun than throwing grenades at lairs
As I stated quite clearly its not a nonissue. I have thought about it, as each of my posts details, and putting the numbers in as you say without testing is the worst thing that could happen. Each pilot tree has differences, and those differences would stack up to a LOT of headaches in a FS conversion in space galaxy. Neutrals would end up with a huge PvE advantage, other pilot trees would cry nerf, and we'd just end up chewing ourselves to pieces over a worthless supplement. Most of the biggest problems in this game have come when Devs thought as you do and popped something in because it was simple, and it lead to lots of problems. It would have to be tested, and that means it would take Dev time away from worthwhile pursuits. It would also mean a cap on Prestige, and a severe loss of Prestige for most long time Aces. I don't hate jedi, I just dont think they should be part of swg at all, since I cant have that, I fight with everything I can to keep Space from following the quick and easy path, that way leads to the Dark Side.

I'm sure how else to say this but ... Remember that at one point during SWG's initial design, they seriously considered not letting players be Jedi at all but ultimately decided against it. SWG is an amazing game on the ground and top side, but when you get involved with the "Jedi aspect" of SWG, things get ugly fast.
IMO, there's a certain element of gamer that wants to come to SWG and be a Jedi. Period. There's little else they're interested in besides swinging a saber. I know how it is myself. I've put a lot of time in to this game for the sole purpose of getting my robes (unlocked post-9/pre-10 on profession 31 back in Sept of last year).
Space, as it exists right now, is a safe haven for those who want to get away from the "jedi game" in all shapes and forms. It needs to stay out of space entirely.
The reason to be in space should be that you want to fly. Any other reason takes away from the experience and will be received poorly by the community at large.

I don't agree with this. Why shouldn't pilots get credit for the space game? If dancers and musicans can get credit while afk macroing, why shouldn't pilots and shipwrights get credit for actuallyplaying the game? Granted shipwrights could macro grind but that's no different than any other crafting profession.
Though the play styles are different they are in fact the same game. Otherwise why not just sell JTL standalone? The dev's strove for seamless integration with the ground game, integration with the jedi system should be part of that.

As someone that has an alt that's an Ace pilot and working on getting FS skills to finish my 6 lines, I do not want the space XP to be converted under any circumstances. Shipwrights, fine. You spend skill points to make master shipwright, and if someone wants to burn up millions of resources (which is what it would take) then fine.
There is no cap on pilot xp or prestige points, and I certainly don't want space to get "revitalized" by a bunch of XP cowboys piling up millions of points to convert. Aside from the multiple Ace bonus, there is also the 1 shot = 100% credit factor. I can already envision tons of AFK macroers at the spawn points in Endor and Lok, in their well-shielded ships firing en masse as the ships spawn, each one getting around 8k per ship, over and over for days at a time.
No thanks.
I would rather Dev time be spent balancing the ground combat game (and Jedi as well) instead of screwing up space to make it "Jedi friendly" and give powergamers a way to AFK their way to Padawan.
I'll get my Jedi under the current rules, and you can bet if I ever show up on the terminals it will be an accident. I think there needs to be something drastic done to curb all the lightsaber shows in the game as it is. The only glow I want to see in space are the shots fired from an opposing pilot. Keep the Jedi on the ground.

This was debated in the 'what do to with Pilot Prestige' thread stickied up top.

Do you think perhaps those "anti-Jedi pilots" might be that way for a reason? Are you saying that people have no cause for alarm when others like yourself advocate that the one aspect of SWG that can't be farmed for XP to convert be changed to allow it?
FS exp (which is not Jedi Exp), is a measurement of how well/much one plays the game. FS XP is a measurement of how much someone plays the game, and how much they are willing to spend in time/credits tocollect and convert into FS points. "Quality" isn't a factor here.
Having ANY portion of the game that cannot be measured or converted in this fashion is an oversight. It wasn't an oversight, it was deliberate. Honestly, I don't ever want to see that changed, not because I "hate" Jedi (I'm working on one myself) but because the space game is the only portion of the game that you don't see threads about how to farm XP on your way to Padawan. If Pilotxp can be converted to FS, space will be populated by hundreds of people doing nothing but farming XPfor the fast-track to Jedi Padawan. Seriously,I think it would be a huge mistake to allow that. The space game needs content, not farmers. SWGdoesn't need more Jedi, since people are already upset about the abusesgoing on in every galaxy right now because of the flood of Jedi, that have absolutely *no* fear of death.
Thereis no need to get "buffed" to fly in space andfight to collect xp.
There is no meaningful decay for using a ship to collect xp. As long as you don't get killed, youdon't lose anything.
That said, Doctors, Entertainers, Weaponsmiths, and Armorsmiths suddenly lose their customer base, because no one is going to spend 5 million credits or more on grenades when they can spendmuch less. Shipwrights would see a mild increase in sales, but only for a short time.
Pilot Prestige is post-master content, and presently is worth Deep Space entry only. I can enter deep space once a day for the next year and a half, and not use up my Prestige. That's why pilots are asking the Devs to spend their time adding content that uses the prestige points, to give pilots and smugglers things to do in space, and not spend that time allowing spacexp to be converted to FS xp, then working out how to make that "fair".
'Use of developer time' is a non-issue. Think about it, we're talking about adding virtually no code to the game. While I would like to believe that it's as simple as a "yes/no" argument, it's not. There would also be issues of a "fair" conversion rate, overcoming the differences between Imperial/Alliance/Freelance systems, etc. They add that exp type to the database, and set the converstion rate. All applicable systems are already in game. I think you're spittin' in the ocean and hoping for high tide there. Having written a few lines of code in my life I know it's *never* that easy.
'Keep space pristine'... you mean keep space underpopulated? No. When we say something like that, we mean "Keep the farmers on the ground, and don't make space the place where the Jedi-wannabes go to farm, not fly. I can sympathize, but I can't endorse it. Keeping space underpopulated keeps it out of the developers' view.

As I've pointed out, the people that want to keep Jedi-trainers out of space don't necessarily hate Jedi, but instead hate what people do to get to Jedi. There are enough problems with people "playing" Jedi right now, are you really so blind to the fact that those complaints and problems would only increase exponentially if it became easier to get a Jedi?
That's what would happen if space XP is added to the conversion mix.
