all i want is for the gcw to be brought into jtl somehow. some goood ideas i have heard involve having space stations over some of the planets that can be attacked disabled and captured alot like the bases on the ground, except they arent placed by players they are in a fixed location and you dont blow it up you capture it. the faction that lost control of the space sector would have a disadvantage on the ground gcw, possibly making thier ground bases more vulnerable.

this is defentaly something that would be considered hard to implement, but not very hard. they wouldnt have to develop any new content, the the stations can be exactly the same as the rebel freedom station in deep space.

The previous poster made a very interesting comment - try and get Space to fit into the upcoming publish (which I believe is currently on TC) - whereby capturing PvP bases helps 'control' a planet. Space should play a vital role in this.

For example, factioned-Corvettes, Carracks, Lancers, Nebulon Bs, etc, should start appearing in space according to the current factional prescene on the ground. Of course this is a catch 22, as this then allows enemy players to launch attacks on these ships and sway the balance back.

I think we might be way late in the devolpement cycle to get included in THIS ones publish. But that does not mean we can't push to get it added later.

The issue at this time would be adding too much high end content around the starter space areas. Those are the planets that are going live first (for control swapping) But how about space be the deciding factor for the unbuildable planets? Whatcha think?

"Imperial Pilots are now controlling the skies above Dathomirthis allows the Empire to land more troops on Dathomir"

Would need to watch out that we don't infringe too much on the current faction controlled space areas. Would be a pain if a T4 pilot going to kessel had a opposing factioned corvette "camping" thier deep space station

Here is an idea, make second characters in a galaxy standard, Enb had it, COF has it, EVE well.... Why not SWG, Come on, u guys wanna keep things interesting, there is nothing like having one character for combat, and the other for support. The galaxy has way to many jedi ( wanna b's ). But the prestige points should be used for some really cool stuff, like maybe the right to cross fly other faction ships. I mean , even the the Star Wars universe ( books. Specifically Xwing series ) rebels were flying ties, Skispay bb, so on..... And new gear, and ships would be nice too.

Play or quit..... there is no whine.

FS trade in?

No. They're totally different games. Allowing it will produce XP situations that unbalance the ground game and will result in unfun rebalance of JtL for the ground Min/Maxers. One thing thats cool about not really needing to accumulate xp after master is that you don't have camped spawns and groups forcing out all the single players.

Master Content?

How about missions besides Escort/Destroy/Capture or some combination of them.

More POIs
POIs with actual content and missions.
Ground game areas only accesible by space. (hire a multiplayer transport)
Dangerous areas of space. Corrosive, caves with collision damage hazard, creatures (Han's asteroid worm), boss-type enemies, special smuggling routes, unique enemy ships, mines, etc.

On the Force Exp

no, jedi ruined the ground game enough, leave them out of space

On the boarding corvette idea

I like the idea of the boarding corvette thing a lot, and is one of the major dreams i had about jtl. some things you could also do with it

1: pilot could switch to the operations chair and open doors/doorways for the people, shut down automated defenses etc. (maybe smugglers could have bonuses to these commands?)

2: maybe different level of skill corvettes (hard corvettes in deep space, medium in kessel, easy in normal space) some people dont really like only being able to fight super battle droid infested ships, they are boring as heck to kill.

Other things to do with Jtl content

*1: This is the one i would like the most... Have a Duty mission where LOTS(i mean a lot, like 30 on the first wave) of low level fighters spawn, i think this idea would be easy and would be tons of fun for multiplayer ships

2: PvP ranking system, able to view on the starship terminals

3: Some reward for pvp, (faction points, badges? i dunno, something :/)

4: something to buy with prestige points... i mean come on, i have 9 million, 30k for deep space = nothing

5: ugh, writers cramp, ill think of more

How about using prestige points like FPs, in that you can buy things with them?

Support ships (Like faction pets)
Special ship designs (patterns, colors, symbols, etc)
Buy a cert to fly another faction's ship
Buy access to different space sectors
Buy new skills (specials)
Buy new droid programs
Uniforms
Furniture (especially MP ship related)
Special Schematics (especially requiring fewer resources, or high in mass or HP)
Ship-type "powerups" (act like a droid program but stack with them and last only for one flight - i.e. +10% reactor powerup, etc.)

This would be fine, assuming that the trade in ratio is very high, probably several 1000 to 1 as it is very easy to get in deep space killing escort ships and gunboats. This would give Jedi hopefuls an opportunity to at least dump this mostly useless prestige xp into something useful. Deep space is the only thing that costs prestige, and the entry fee of 30k can be reobtained in one kill

you can get faction points in deep space at about 40-60 fp per fighter. Faction points can be converted 1 for 1 into combat xp at a faction recruiter. combat xp converts to FS xp at 3 to 1. which means you get 15-20 FS xp per fighter in deep space.

considering you get around 8000 prestige points per fighter, the convertion is the equivalent to around 400 to 1....

First of all, on the FS Trade In question, I agree that the answer should be no. Not only does one pay no skill points for a pilot skill, but we also already have an insane number of Jedi in the game, and space has been relatively free of any Jedi influence, which is a good thing.

Now, a couple of ideas for Prestige Point Expenditure:

Easy-to-Implement:

Heavy Ship Components:
A new category of components designed to be used solely in MP ships. These components should have very high stats, and a good deal of mass, to ensure that mass management is an issue in MP ships and force people to pick aread to focus on in their MP ship loadouts. For example, Han Solo sacrificed almost all other considerations in the management of his ship for speed. These components should bring MP ships up to the level where they actually are as powerful as they should be.

Specialty Droid Programs:
A master pilot should be able to master complex ship maneuvers, far beyond that which most pilots are able to handle. With that in mind, a few new droid programs to spend points on might be a good idea. Reading the Thrawn trilogy by Timothy Zahn, there are a lot of little tricks the pilots pull off. Some examples of programs could be:

Emergency Hyper-Jump: calculation time is cut, but the dropoff point is random. Damages components.

Torpedo Jettison: drops a torpedo/missile/bomb behind you , which explodes if enemy ships hit it.

Droid Dependancy: your flight computer/droid has become an integral part of the ship's operating, droid program speed increase, slight skill mod to pilot skills to represent the increased reaction time of ship-to-droid communications

Ship Models:
Much like the veteran reward ships, little models of all the JTL ships for decoration purposes.

Now for a couple of more difficult to implement ideas:

New Master-only areas:
Deep Space is all well and good, but a few other areas along the same lines could liven things up. Ideas I'd really like to see up this alley would be:
Imperial/Rebel shipyards (perhaps combine this with the corvette idea to make the drydocks dockable and attackable. Man that would be a rush)
The Kessel Run/Space Races: Timed waypoint races
Dangerous zones: Areas like Asteroid fields and such, wherein the environment can actually do damage to your ship, and also be attacked by ship blasters, or other ideas.

New Droid Modules:
Droids are perhaps under-utilized in JTL, and could be given more functionality by adding in some new droid modules to help master pilots out. Examples are:
Plasma Control Module: the droid will seek out plasma leaks on an MP ship and attempt to contain them.
Flight Maneuver Module: instills several preprogrammed maneuvers into the droid, such as: 180 degree loop, 360 degree loop, fast barrel roll, brakes, and so on and so forth, to allow pilots to execute useful maneuvers quickly.
Ship Repair Module: the droid will attempt to repair damaged components (R2 was doing this all the time)
Hyper-Navigation Module: speeds up hyperspace calculation times.

and so on and so forth...

FS trade-in: no, the grind to jedi should be as boring as possible to try to discourage them.

as for other stuff:
* PvP ranking that can get you special components, ships, and titles
* Naval ranks purchasable with prestige points
* Instanced Kessel Run for Master Pilot/Master Smugglers(proposed here)
* Faction Space stations able to be placed by Master Pilots with enough prestige
* More special PvP and PvE sectors accessable only to masters

Excellent point, Ive never used the xp conversion at recruiter before so never thought of that 400:1 is a pretty shoddy conversion rate if you ask me . I just threw out a high number because I have no difficulty getting large amounts of xp in space, but didnt actually take the time to crunch out the numbers hehe. I still don't see what the problem is with implementing FS xp conversion for prestige however. Of course, Id rather they added content to utilize this mechanic, but I see nothing wrong with doing it. Ground xp is simply faster, but if you like space, then giving xp conversion is a positive reward that might keep some people up there and at least give us loyal pilots someone to talk to =).
