Funny how no reasons were ever given for that bunch of stealth nerfs, eh?
Or the crafting changes that mean I now crit fail 20% of the timeBut that's another issue altogether.
Not really; in my eyes it's the exact SAME issue.

I don't understand why components, engines especially, were downgraded so much when we have things like the JSF and Nym's Starmap reward engine back in the game. Did they fire an entire dev team and replace the lot?
It IS as though they gave us some % of a shot at having the pre-nerf Haor-Chall engine. As far as their attitude in dealing with theEta-2 Actis Interceptor's extreme maneuverability, that doesn't seem too far off from their old habits(if anyone remembers the massboosts freelance, firesprays, and oppressors got for NEW chassis way back when; leaving the old ones collecting dust never to be used again because they wouldn't fix them; reminds me of proton rifles in current times). I'm thinking the JSF's are most likely also a matter of selling the expansion(the biggest bang, mass, and maneuverability combo; all only available if you have RotW).

Seems like we have a completely different philosophy behind the updates to JTL now.
Well, who knows? Maybe L10 engines with over 100 speed will start dropping in Kashyyyk space only; makes sense from a marketing standpoint.
Crit Fails/vs stealth nerfs: Yeah, I agree itis the same issue. I was comparing stealth changes to crafting to stealth changes to loot drops. I meant the "stealth" part being a different issue to this thread. Not trying to minimize loot nerfage.

Get enough monkeys and enough typewriters into a room, and you'll get new loot tables at some point
I'll take a room full of monkeys over these Ultima Online devs ANY day.

We all remember the part of ESB where Han pulled the "uber" engine out of the Millenium Falcon while they were in the space slug, because when they came out he knew that legendary component would get blown away with a fleet of SD's coming after you, and he was terrified of decay(note that lando used the same engine as well back when he owned it),
Nice
Using the movies as a guide to what makes a game fun is walking a very very thin line, though. And besides, that thing shut down all the time because ofthe overloads he ran through it. Maybe he was down to 10 HPs on the hyperdrive when he ran EO4 ![]()
He also tried every trick in the book to avoid situations where the Falcon would get shot up, to avoid decay. Death Star trench runs would be the time you risk your good components in PVP or high-end PVE.

Ah, you forget how the devs left out the "Hyperdrive" component(which personally I'd welcome with open arms).

And his chassis didn't have insane maneuver modifiers, ![]()

Seriously, what are the chances you'll get your components damaged any time OTHER than those "seemingly"-impossible missions?
...in the case of GOOD pilots, anyway, ![]()

I'd love to see targettable hyperdrives. Or at least give us Imperials an Interdictor we can call in
And remember (as SOE likes to point out) the Falcon was a "heavily modified" YT-1300, not the "stock" ones we fly. I don't think I'd call a freighter "Stock" with a 119 speed engine and an Elite booster strapped into it, personally...
And that is true... the pilots who have the best loot will probably be the best pilots anyway, and so the end-game missions would be the only place decay could be an issue. But then, you have access to DS currently anyway ![]()
Maybe it's not a solvable problem. There are always going to be the upper echelons in any game that the current content doesn't challenge anymore. I justdon't likeseeing reward and amazing REd components (*cough* and JSFs *cough*) being used every day, with no consequences. Just doesn't sit well for me.

Sure it is, just raise the prestige point cost. A million, 5 million, 10 million.
It won't be taken lightly then(which is all that's really needed).
But that would decrease the (already tiny) amount of action in DS to nothing. What about leaving the entry fee at 30k, and giving the option on system exit to spend 1/5/10 million prestige to perform a decayless repair?
(edit: that btw is a bloody fantastic idea and I love it, it feeds my need for risk vs reward, just want to make sure it doesn't get shot down)

Well...I GUESS that'd work, but only if you wanted to make EVERYONE happy, ![]()

At around 10 percent decay a unit that starts off with 600 hit points become unusable after being completely destroyed 26 times. (IE: hit point is less then 40 making droid commands unusable)
At around 1 percent decay a unit that starts off with 600 hit points become unusable after being completely destroyed 204 times.
