Thread: ISD and Corvettes. MAJOR NEW BUG

I logged on after the upgrade today, and unlike most people, went straight to deep space.

I wanted to see if there were any bugs with my favourite hunting ground.

And I found one...

The ISD subcomponents cannot now be hit by blasters. I hit the shield about 100 times and did absolutely no damage.

I was trying to kill the ISD because DS was completely full of npc ships and was lagging badly. Now I know why. It cant be reset.

Its possible missiles will hit them, I havent tried. But that would be a big waste of missiles to take down the ISD. You would need loads.

So anyway, having come to the conclusion that deep space is now totally unplayable, I tried Kessel.

No lag. I killed a few gunboats and had no problems taking out thier subsystems.

I met a guy up there who needed the corvette for master.

What do I find when I try to take out gun 5?

Yep. Blasters cant touch the thing.

I did 6 or 7 runs against gun 5 to be sure. Not one percent of damage.

I left one very dissapointed pilot. Its gonna be a hell of a lot harder to master pilot now. If possible at all.

Do the devs know of this game-breaking bug?

For JTLS thats exactly what it is. Game-breaking.

Pilots cant master. And deep space is too laggy to visit because no-one can take out the ISD to reset it. I had 1 frame per second at some pointswhile I was there. So you can imagine what fun I had trying to take out the ISD.

The devs need to sort this out quick.

In Scylla, I don't what happend, but the area above the Star Destroyer was covered in green laser bolts. Quite possibly three times as many as what the ISD would normally put out. My Radeon 9800 grinded to 2 FPS within seconds of entering Deep Space. Itwas completely unplayable.

And it's not our fault - it's just your own new suicide.

Privateers are going to have a helluva time mastering from now on. None of their ships have more than one missile slot.

hehe yes, I found that too.

Launched my A-wing, went to DS and was like...ok lets see if the ISD is the same. Oh wait...its seemingly indestructible now. Woot.

Then because I was bored, I hung around for StarRavager to see what the story with that was..went in for gun 5 and to my dismay, that didn't want to fly off either.

It'd be cool if the ISD and Vette were made alot harder, however, making them indestructible makes me sad

The ISD and the vette should be harder to kill; however, if all of the lag in Deep Space is due to the changes then something should be done to fix that pronto.

As far as the vette is concerned, I think that is great that you have to kill it with missiles now. There is a reason for bombers to exist. As far as I'm concerned, you shouldn't be able to solo the master mission, so now you will need help (most likely) to do it. That is more work for master pilots to get, a reason for us to fly bombers, and a great way for me to start out my new merc business.

One missle launcher with a 12 round pack is all you need though. Just takes longer cause you ahve to reaquire a lock with the same tube. I did the star ravanger with one MK III proton tube as a rebel pilot in my xwing.

I think you should be able to solo anything as long as your smart about it. Fly smarter, not harder. And ill bet you no matter what they do to the vette, im pigheaded enough to find a way to keep right on soloing it. Besides, when you play at odd play times, often finding a group is damn impossible. Frankly last time i did the vette took me 8 minutes, to help a guy who didnt know how to do it, and was standing around starport for a couple HOURS begging for a group.

Standing around a starport begging for a group isn't how i want to play JTL, because more often then not with JTL's case, you wont find a group.

was just coming in to report this...

i was going to ask that the SD be made harder, but... hehe, not like this..

i know it's completely unrelated, but i know you're compiling a bug/issues thread tomo... is there anyway we can get the gunboat range exploit fixed?... i was just recently made aware of this technique to destroy boats without risk... it is of striking resemblance to the "turret range exploit" from the ground, for which the cure was to increase turret ranges to 70m...

Hmm I still haven't see this happen. There is a huge drop in framerate when you get close enough to the isd but nothing as bad as 2fps, mabye 10-15 at lowest.

I'm using a Radeon 9800 Pro All in Wonder. The 128 mb version. I'm using a P4 3.0E Prescott cpu with 1 gig of ram. No real issues I've seen yet in DS. Even when it's really crowded. Would really love to see these blue and red boxes turned off though. It makes space look ugly.

All right, just went up to check things out again.

Missile lock audio and visual is back. I'm not sure what was going on this morning, but I just pelted a Vette with 15 Mk II Image-Recs (too lazy to make some Concussions) and had the lock noise and graphics on each one.

Weapon targets can't be damaged by blasters but are still located where they used to be. However, all other systems--shields, engines, reactor, and bridge--are now located in the center of the Vette. You won't be able to shoot them with guns and you'll have to aim at the center to get missile lock.

Hope that helps.

So does that mean that the change is "official" and not a bug? Or are you still checking on that part, TomoRainer?

You know what happened don't you.
The captains of the Corvettes forgot to striptheirships of components before the CU and now they got moved into the added on cargo hold slot.

I just realized something. I wasn't getting pilot prestige for the kills when I wasin deep space not declared.

Is anyone getting pilot prestige anywhere now?

How about when u declare overt?

You do get prestige. Just the msgs don't spam on the screen anymore. You have to see the prestige reward in the combat log. This is true in the ground game too. I honestly want no msgs on screen because it sometimes distracts me.

Seriously, you could be right.

On test at least one componenet (weapon usually) would always disappear within the chassis somewhere, unaccessable, yet still taking mass and energy.

Conicidence?
