Really? I got killed 2 x in one shot both by an x wing. And on that note is PVP in space Insane? One ##%#@ shot??? I have an m-22 Krayt with a shield of 2555 hp and 3 guns 3700 3500 and 3300 damage. I get killed in one shot by an x wing? Even if he did squeeze some good guns and armor into the smaller x wing IS this screwed up or what ? Is SOE going to fix this at some point? Something needs to be changed like toning down pvp damage or making jtls combat like galactic civil war, where u have neutral- off duty, combatant-pve or special forces- pvp. If they dont fix this soon ill have alot less respect for this game or just end up quitting. I only go overt so I can get good faction points from killing rebel ships. PVP wouldnt be so bad if the poorfool to get hit first looses. Whats the game in south park? " I'll kick you in the nads as hard as I can and then you kick me in the nuts and whoever's still standing wins"
This is a bit off-topic. Youve started a thread about the "way too imalanced" pvp in JTL. That should be enough.
And for your information many people, myself included, like pvp in space the way it is.
Im guessing you have just mastered pilot and went to DS in an oppressor with a tiny engine and massive lvl 10 guns. Then wondered why an X-wing managed to take you down. Instead of figuring out what you did wrong, looking at your ship configuration, and adapting your tactics, its much easier to go on a rant in the forum crying nerf.
Im sorry but you will get no sympathy from me.

Well said. I wonder if the people who complain about getting dusted in one or two shots have ever watched a Star Wars movie? If not I suggest watching Star Wars: Return of the Jedi. Pay attention to the space battle above Endor and count how many times the fighters get shot before blowing up then report back here with your findings.
As a matter of fact....watch any Sci-Fi film where there is ship to ship space combat and see how long it takes for a ship to get blasted to bits.

Couldn't agree more with you there, Ducimus.
I can dodge blaster fire long enough but if there is anything that blows up any ship fast then it is 3 image rec mk II missiles at closer than 300m. Especially if you are moving into their direction.
Theorethically an X-Wing should do well against an oppressor though due to their high damage output.
In a real space battle though the Tie Advanceds and Interceptors will probably engage the X-Wings before they get a clear shot at the Oppressors while A-Wings can neither efficiently attack oppressors nor defend the X-Wings all interceptor fighters excel in not getting hit which is why the fights between them take the longest.
Due to the second gun slot on the Advanced they have enough damage to seriously threaten X-Wings while Interceptors go more into the direction of the A-Wing with its smaller profile.
To get rid of Tie Advanceds and Interceptors rebels require missiles as well, prefferably more than one launcher too. This is very problematic for them as Y-Wings and B-Wings are extremely slow and sluggish compared to an Oppressor.
Ultimately, Imperials have very well rounded ships that have characteristics that balance the disadvantages of the group they are in out. A TieOppressor is very maneuverable for a Bomber and a TieAdvanced has nice firepower for an Interceptor type ship.

I'm wondering how all of this will play out in the new expansion. X-Wings are geting more mass, but will they lose manuverablity? And what will be the stats on the new TIES? If the new Interceptor has more mass with the same manuverability that will be one evil ship. It's being marketed as the Emperor's escort fighter so I would imagine that it will be very very fast and have at least 65k mass. But that would mean the new Advanced might get bumped up to around 85k mass but maybe keep it's manuverability.

Sounds like you've discovered for yourself some of the things ive was probably telling you about ingame. Ya the xwing is viable properly configured, but your right, you have to work alot harder in it then a Tie interceptor or advanced. I think one of the harsher realities is that, from a PvP perspective, the empire is, and probably always will be, one up on the alliance unless some major changes are made.
What i mean is, the rebels two primary ships for PvP:the A wing and Xwing. Not counting the oddball B or Y wing pilot that you rarely see.
The empire has has three pvp ships: the T/I, the T/A, and the T/O. Three verses the alliances two. The T/A and T/I vary in nonclamature, and both are deadly. However the heckler if you look at the big picture is the T/O - which is the empires trump card against the A wing. No other starfighter in the game can dish out three MK II IR missles at once, which is an abliity the rebels don't have. No one surivives three MK II IR's. It's cheap ya, but it's an effective and quick takedown of the rebels best asset.
What im afraid of later on, if the GCW in space really ever takes off, is a whole lot of bandwagoneering.
Edit: but in case your thinking it, this isnt my primary reason for going back to imp pilot. All of my friends ingame are imperial and being a rebel put me in a real awkward position, so i just decided to give it up.

The empire definately has an advantage, but that's what being a reb pilot is all about. Going out against all odds and still coming out on top.
X-Wing 4 Life!
I could be waaaayyy out in left field but isnt the T/O a multirole craft, and not a bomber per say? At least thats the impression i got ready SOE's description of it.
Halyn wrote:It may be called a multi-role fighter, but with its mass, it has to be a bomber. :/
I dont think mass defines bomber.
Isn't the Y wing multirole? 170K mass (same as t/o)
How about the firespray? 210K mass
Krat gunship? another 210K mass
etc etc...
This would make the Longprobe and B-Wing less desireable than they are now, but they'd still have a huge mass advantage over the X-Wing, so that might continue to be a draw. And while I'd like to see more ships with an important role in PVP, if there's no way to pilot the B's and Y's competetively, it's better to bump up the X-Wing than to force the Rebels to fly with such a significant missile disadvantage.
However, I'm not sure if I've seen the Rebs make a real push to see if the Y and B can work in large-scale battles, which has me hesitant to make such a suggestion. It's hard to tell in this case whether the Imps have an advantage just because it's easier to make our ships fit their role, or whether the Rebel craft just can't compete when it comes to missiles.
I agree, and one thing i never understood was why the xwing has 3 gunmounts and 1 missle mount. I mean, in the movies they shot 2 missles at the deathstar's exaust port, not one.
Although i have to admit, the thought of an xwing with 2 IR's makes me worried, but alls fair in war i guess. I imagine the jury's gonna be waiting on the results of the modified ships in ROTW. The whole balance of power is going to have to be re-examined when those ships hit the spacelanes.
