Thread: Why don't people stay and fight?

The reason why some people don't come back is because they don't want to PvP. Everyone knows its PvP active in DS, so if you go in and get killed, you don't go back.

Its better than them whining on and on at you to leave so they can farm.

Some people aren't looking for an adrenaline rush. They're just trying to have fun. I'll never go into Deep Space, because PvP is not fun to me. It's a chore at best, and a complete waste of time at worst. I'd love to go see the Star Destroyer, but it will never happen because PvP is such a complete turn off to me.

Well, 95% of the time, there's no one there. You'd be perfectly safe touring Deep Space. And if you did get jumped by someone, there's no decay. Much like the AT-ST on Dantooine, the Imperial Star Destroyer is one of the coolest things to see in the game.

Heck, if you were on Tarq, I'd take you in my Y-Wing.

First, I have a question. What is FPS?

Second,

There is really only 2 rules in PvP that everyone can agree on. These are the only 2 rules that I use to govern my decisions concerning PvP in space or on the ground.

  1. RED=DEAD You better bring because you can bet I am.

  2. /addignore /report If I get hate tells, I /addignore. If they are profane, I /report.

For people to get upset because you attack them when they are overt is rediculous. Everyone knows that you are open to attack when you are overt. If you don't want to be attacked, don't go overt.

FPS = Frames Per Second

The ISD is a real problem when it "opens up"...

Heck, I'd prefer it if it spawned 20 assorted fighters each time you destroyed a component. It'd certainly cut down on FPS hit and maybe they'd actually be able to shoot you.

Here's a pretty neat idea for you: I do it for the fun and not the ego boost. Heck, it's only a game, right?

It's almost like decorating a virtual, non-existent house and inviting everyone to come see it in the hopes that they'll validate your efforts, right?

Granted, its a game. In the future, just accept the fact that sometimes you win a match in the first round.

I guess what I'm trying to ask is...

Why do people take it so personally when they lose? Yeah, your virtual ship with your imaginary pilot toon got blown out of a space zone that exists as some data bits on some server. And if they don't want to engage in PvP...what are they doing making the first move? Does winning in a game matter so much?

I've been killed plenty of times; we all have by the time we're established aces. Who cares? On the other hand, I never understood gloating after a kill, either. If someone who's fought me asks for help in their tactics or equipment, I'm happy to provide it.

No PvE spawn in the game really gives you an adrenaline rush like facing another player.

You were there, they decided to give it a go and see how if they could handle fighting you. Just because they lost and didn't return doesn't imply that they took it personally. It just meanswhoever itwasacknowledged that he was up against a pilot he probably wasn't going to be able to beat, and having something else in mind for his time in space, decided to go after whatever it was somewhere else. Not everyone sees PvP as something you have to obsessively pursue. Yes, its an adrenaline rush above and beyond PvE, but that doesn't invalidate the importance or need for PvE.

If I'm in Deep Space overt for loot and faction, and some player comes after me, I'll go at it with him without complaint, win or lose. No big deal, I'm overt in a PvP zone, its a part of life.

If I win, and he keeps coming back, then I'm outta there ifPvP isnot my first priority. If I have to stomp some guy a half dozen times and he keeps coming back, its going to get old real quick.I guess thats the question here, how many times do you have to fight before you just say, "Ok, good fight, you win, have a nice day"?

If I lose, then I'm up against a guy who's probably going to blow me away ifI return, whether its because of a superior ship or skill. If I have some objective in mind other than PvP, why would I waste time going back and getting blown up when I can go somewhere else and get the job done in peace? Its not that I've taken being beaten the first time personally, but I do have things I'd like to do, and PvP is getting in my way.

The guy had a JSF and still lost. He probably needed time to gather his shattered pride. j/k

But seriously what the others are saying is true. Its one thing to be in a PvP enabled zone, its another to get confronted as soon as you load in. There's a whole zone in there beyond the load-in point, some people want to experience it. Who wants to get camped by someone that is obviously a superior pilot?

Being that I rag on JSF's as much as I do, I decided to lay off the obvious answer.

id like to see kessol vamped up a bit, so it was a good alternative, in regard to loot, to deep space. The loot drops in kessel are pathetic compared to deep space in terms of quality in my experience.I dont understand why you have to tie up high end loot gathering with player versus player, when clearly some people dont want to be in involved in that at all. I think players should only go to an overt zone if they genuinly want to fight other people, and not be forced for another reason.

This is pissing a friend of mine off quite a bit. I helped equip his ship to be superior to mine in interception, and everyone runs from him.

I've never seemed to have that problem, though. Possibly because if someone DOES kill me, I think they think they get bragging rights or something.

I've had numerous evenings where the person I took out came back for more, multiple times. Heck they even brought a friend to help them. What I don't like is when I win a few times, then finally get taken out (that part doesn't bug me) and whe *I* come back for more, they've bugged out (that part bugs me).
