Thread: Why don't people stay and fight?

Last night, I was grinding FP in Deep Space in my Heavy X-Wing. (Heck, it's the best PvE ship out there, IMHO.) An Imp starts to load in to the sector. I wait, politely, for 30 seconds until he starts to move. Then I use the "target nearest enemy player" button to ping him a few times until he gets the hint that there's opposing faction player nearby. He starts toward me and we engage in a dogfight. After about 30 seconds or so, I disable his ship by blowing off the engines. I fly by his cockpit so he can see who I am, reverse and finish him off so he won't get the double wounds/BF penalty from ejecting.

So, I'm hoping that he will come back (maybe even with friends), but he never does.

If it were me, I'd load up my overloads again and come right back. Frankly, he was in the superior ship. The hitbox on a Heavy X is HUGE compared to the one on a JSF. Ah, well.

Ya it seems to like that in DS. Or even worse you take someone down in an honorable way. And get hate tells for it. Its a PvP area guys.

I think it doesn't help that the ISD is bringing most peopls FPS to 4, and the Reb base is indestructable. Ruins moods, makes peole feel like its nothing but a gank zone.

On more than one occasion, in both my JSF and B-22, I have been accused of exploiting because they could not hit me. One guy at least came back a few times and was fine after he calmed down. People just don't like having their a$$ handed to them in 1-2 shots, they're used to totally owning in PVE.

Or people don't want to PvP. Some want to farm loot or FP, so if another person is there, they go do it some place else.

Eh, why is it PvP players can't get it through their heads that some people have better things to do than amusethem for an hour or two?

As far as this guy was concerned, someone popped him coming into DS, disabled him, then strutted his stuff before taking the kill. From his perspective, why would he throw himself back into an arena where he was going to be facing someone who was going to essentially incap him, then parade around him before taking the DB? To say nothing of the fact that if he didn't go into Deep Space specifically looking for PvP, why would he be expected to come back in and deal with it rather than try to accomplish what he really wanted to do somewhere else?

Some people PvP when circumstances demand it, rather than throwing themselves into at every opportunity trying to prove they can piss higher on the tree than other dogs.

Over on Chimaera, we have set up a halfway point for people to use to engageif they want to. I do take the ISD a great deal, and try not to take people just after loading, but mistakes do happen I always appologise if I do take them shortly after, but when you are doing the ISD you spam Z and if an imp ops up, you take them, and ask questions later. My only bicker about people disliking pvP in DS is when they say, please try not to attack me near the ISD, as it drops my FPS. Erm, hello? If you won't come to me and fight, how am I supposed to engage you away from the ISD if all you do, is hang around near the bloody thing!?

I was up against 2 imps the other night, 1 in a B-22, the other in an Opp, and as the B-22 is the greater threat and better pilot, I went for him first. As they were near the ISD I have little chance not fighting there, as running would result in firery death on my part. I admit it got a bit hairy when they were both after me, so seeing as I can handle the FSP there i did "clip" the ISD to try and even things up a bit. But it does get me, when they say "Oooh fighting near the ISD runins my fps and the game for me". Please step away from the ISD with your weapons ready to defend yourself then.

We have found the Halfway to be very popular, we are friendly on most parts with the guys who fly in DS, and we use the halfway as a rondevous, to meet, group and engage etc. Most people know it, and if I do find a new player in DS, I send them an email with the wp, inviting them to fight if they so wish. I find this sorts the wheat from the chaff, apart from the ISD huggers, which you can't do a thing about *grumble*

Anyone else use this sort of thing to PvP safely in DS?

But in answer to the thread, as i got a bit sidetracked. If I die, i tend to go back and get revenge. With the two guys, I died and came back 6 times. I wasn't leaving untill I had taken them both. which I did, without missiles, then I came across another imp lurking near by, so he got it as well Most people do tend to come back. Fights usually end in a /tell with Good shooting. Coming back? Sure Then you know you have someoine game enough to give you a challenge and have some fun. I have no qualms with dieing, and coming back. hell, it gives me an excuse to go purve over some dancers in the cantina afterwards

"WARNING: You are about to enter a PvP enabled zone."

Where's that from? Anyone guess?

If someone's overt in Endor grinding through Tier 4 Rebel Fighters, I leave them alone. Heck, if the guy didn't want to PvP and had sent me a /tell, I'd have respected that as well. But HE made the first move. Let's keep that in mind.

I'm not arguing that, but he lost, so in his mind, a more capable pilot was ruling the roost, so he went to do whatever he came to do someplace else. You won, congrats, how many times do you have to win before your ego is thoroughly stroked?

Here's a pretty neat idea for you: I do it for the fun and not the ego boost. Heck, it's only a game, right?

It's almost like decorating a virtual, non-existent house and inviting everyone to come see it in the hopes that they'll validate your efforts, right?

Granted, its a game. In the future, just accept the fact that sometimes you win a match in the first round.
