Thread: The debate is over. EP3 ships are for everyone.

Also, I find it funny how they dodged a question:

"How will Skill Attachments work in the CU?

The skill trees will function like the original game, the main changes for this area are the re-arrangements of the rewards in the skill trees, the new armor certifications and the new weapons making the skill trees a much more compelling advancement system."

Now imagine this.. more ships in our datapads! (pipedream of mine!)

/cheer ARC-170 I like the whole Dragonfly look of this thing.

/cheer Jedi Starfighter I am hoping we'll see more Jedi in space with this. Continuity be damned! I just want to see more pilots on more servers!

/cheer Grievous Fighter! Didn't like the look of it at first but then I started thinking it looks like an old roadster. Hopefully it will have a 57' Chevy Texture kit with it.

Wether we have to do missions, grind re's, whatever.. it's nice to see they got cross cert'ed and Imp's, Reb's, and Nuet's all got modified versions of existing ships. For all that I /salute ROTW. Looks like some interesting stuff coming up.

So what's this rumor I hear about someone looking in the .tre files on the TC and finding certifications for new freelance ships, such as the YT-2400? Any substance to them?

Does this mean the only way to get a BARC speeder is to buy the retail pack? What if I want both the varactyl and the new speeder?

Very good question indeed...

Hold on...the PRIVATEERS feel they're "missing out"?

Not that I mind the way things work at the moment...everyone's fairly balanced out. But just to throw some numbers ate you, as they appear in the skill listings...here's how the Certifications are balanced at the moment:

Post-ROTW in italics.

Imperial: 9 . 12

- TIE (Light Duty)
- TIE Fighter
- TIE/ln
- TIE Bomber
- TIE Interceptor
- TIE Agressor
- TIE Advanced
- TIE Opressor
- Decimator
- TIE Fighter (extra mass)
- TIE Advanced (extra mass)
- Royal Guard TIE Interceptor

Rebel: 7 . 9

- Z-95
- Y-Wing
- Y-Wing Longprobe
- X-Wing
- A-Wing
- B-Wing
- Nova Courier
- Z-95(extra mass)
- X-Wing (extra mass)

Privateer: 8 (11) . ?

- Hutt Scyk
- Hutt Dunelizard
- Hutt Kimogila
- Black Sun Khiraxz
- Black Sun Ixiyen
- Black Sun Rihkxyrk
- Hutt Krayt
- YT-1300

If you don't include the variants of the Hutt fighters, the Privateers already outnumber the Rebels with the range of ships they have, as do the Imps. That's understandable (and I'm not complaining), because the Privateers have Hutt AND Black Sun ships, and the Imperials are, well, the Empire.

If there's a midified version of the Scyk on its way, that'll make the Privateers equal the Rebels (variants not included)...and if you bear in mind that the TIE (Light Duty), TIE Fighter, and TIE/ln are essentially the same ship, then the Privateers equal the Imps (variants included).

I'm not complaining about that at all. The fact that Privateer is two factions-worth of ships rolled into one is the main reason for that. I'd like to see the Privateers get a two-seater Black Sun ship (maybe the ones seen in X-Wing Alliance?) as well, so that the Hutt and Black Sun ships are equal. I'd also like to see a new Multipassenger ship for the Privateers to REPLACE the YT-1300...something that is "one of a kind", the same way that the Nova and Decimator are.

I personally would replace the YT-1300, and shove the certification for it in all three professions. Ships that the rebels bought lots of being in Rebel Pilot...that makes sense. Ships that were comissioned for the Empire, and are used as patrol ships by the Empire almost exclusively being in Imperial Pilot...that makes sense. But the simple fact that the Milennium Falcon was used by Han Solo, a REBEL no less, and a similar class has been flown by Wedge Antilles, who I think you'll agree is an ALLIANCE ACE PILOT (Master Rebel Pilot), having it in the Privateer profession doesn't sit right with me.

Were I a dev, I'd have FOUR sets of ships:

Rebel:
As it is now. Z-95, Y-Wing, Longprobe, X-Wing, A-Wing, B-Wing, Nova. Post CURB, Z-95-X, X-Wing-X added.

Imperial:
As it is now. Light Duty, Fighter, ln, Bomber, Interceptor, Agressor, Advanced, Opressor, Devastator. Post CURB, Fighter-X, Advanced-X and Royal Guard Interceptor added.

Privateer:
- Hutt: Scyk, Dunelizard, Kimogila, Krayt.
- Black Sun: Light, Medium, Heavy, Two-Seater.
- + MP Ship

Neutral:
The ships everyone can have. Currently: KSE Firespray, Vet Yacht. Post CURB, Mining Ship, Jedifighter, Grevious' Fighter and ARC-170 added.

In addition to the "Neutral" ships, pop in a couple of things like a Cloakshape fighter, a Starchaser, that thing from XWA with the bent wings that police forces use (which I've forgotten the name of), etc. Make sure that there is at least one "neutral" fighter per Tier. Also add in the YT-1300, and any other CEC craft (YT-2000, YT-2400, etc). Neutral fighters would be PvE only.

The "Neutral" catagory sort of exists already...or will, after ROTW. But making it into an official set, and adding a few craft at each level means that, should someone want to fly a "civi" ship as a Rebel pilot, that they've brought from their past life, they can. If someone doesn't want to affiliate themselves with Black Sun or the Hutts, they can. Also, if you added variant versions of the Z-95, TIE Fighter, Scyk and Light BS fighters that were "older" incarnations of the same thing (different weapon slot configurations, perhaps), it'd allow people to fly "captured" craft, or to keep alive the RP aspect of the game. Being able to "keep" even the most basic of the Hutt craft after you'd stopped being a Privateer pilot means that you could drop the profession, and still keep a little token of that history on show, for all to see.

ah, i think thats interesting. so now youll have to be wary of thoes ships because teh pilot inside can be of any faction. I like that idea

first off. if anyone that isint imp thinks they are missioing out on starship choices guess again. Imps cant paint their ships. they dont have ANY viariant looks to them and on top of that the TIE prototype, TIE Fighter and TIE/IN are the same freakin ship. but nevertheless i think the more fihters they put in the game. the better.

And if you think privateers get nothing, just take a look at your mass on your ships, outclasses most imperial craft by far and some rebel ones but i don't have experience with those.

In terms of the Nuetral vs Imperial debate... honestly, it's a bit silly.

I've been both and they both have their own advantages. First off, Nuetrals get major mass compared to Imp's, also they get multiple gun slots at every level where Imp's don't see that till the Bomber in Tier 3.

Although, I will say, being an Imperial pilot forces you to learn a lot more about re'ed components, mass vs energy, how to survive in Deep Space while flying an intercepter with 150 pts of armour front and back.

It's really comparing apples to oranges IMHO. Nuetrals can't just go around hitting tab to find the nearest enemy, Reb's and Imp's con yellow. Nuetrals also have the issue of once they go to kessel they have to redeed to switch faction choices. So there's issues on both sides.

I really enjoyed flying the nuetral ships. Coming from Imperial and going Nuetral is so easy. You're so used to sparing every ounce of mass that I often found myself with 20k extra mass even at tier 1. On the other hand Nuetrals have to be very aware of their reactors and generation if the want to fill every gun slot.

I can't speak too much about the rebel ships as I haven't flown any yet, but in terms of Imp vs Nuetral. There's good reasons to choose either. Nuetrals have large amounts of mass and plenty of choices in ship styles and textures. Imp's get to fly the "Iconic" bad guy ships... for me thats a good enough reason to go back Imp.

The Varactyl is only for the Digital Download pre-orders, the BARC is only for full-version retail box sets. Both items are tradable in-game.
