>>Imperial Aces, where were you?

Heh, couple days ago i caught a YT and an A wing trying to do the ISD. Infact they were down to the bridge at 50-70%. I killed em both before they could kill the ISD.

A wing comes back looking for payback and i shot him down agan, good times My question is, how come im outnumbered 2 to 1 in space? Not just in deep space either. On bria, whenver i go overt, i always see overt rebels. I have yet to see another overt imperial in space.

Sometimes i thnk that when im not overt, theres no imperial presence in space at all, and the rebels are free to faction farm with impunity. It shouldn't be that way, and i shouldnt feel like im the only one out there.

what people need to realize is it's just a computer and people have been soloing these things since the old xwing game back in the day, you can only do so much to the thing to increase it's difficulty. players say "no single player should be able to beat the ISD" but how do you enforce that? increase it's armor? make it move around? increase it's weapon accuracy? to what end?

what makes the ISD "difficult" is either not knowing tricks to beat the AI, or players defending the ship and it's supposed to be this way to encourage pvp. it's our job as imperials to be the fighter escort for the ISD. to that end i'd love to see the game differentiate between PC and NPC attack on the ISD and system message imperial ace pilots that their carrier is under assault. when the shields go down perhaps? i do think there also needs to be a more tangible reward for destroying theISD a faction % bonus for rebel forces on the ground for the next hour perhaps. something that is tangible but not immediately open to force players to camp it for loot.

IMO players should be able to dock with the ISD and rebel base and man the guns there as well. this would make things more difficult for players assaulting the base and also more fun for players who may not want to expressly fly around and PVP.

off topic: i wish the gunboats/novas/vettes hunted you down so bad. it made the missions so much more fun. i don't think anyone really likes sitting underneath gunboats ad naseum.

Frankly I'd enjoy soloing the ISD, although I'd prefer it to be moving to make ita serious challange.

But soloing ISD is not really such a hard concept to grasp. The ISD is not there to challange starfighters it there to drive fear into the hearts of other capitol size starship captains. Its designed to meet the threat of larger vessels and there by cannot handle stunt fighters. The ISD is also a carrier vessel, with six squadren onboard and these are what protect the ship fromother starfighters. I'm sure many of the Xwing series fans will remember havingto blast through thosesix wavesbefore they could exploit the wicknesses on the ISD's in that game.

For real life examplesyou only have to look atPearl Harbour and the Arizona (spelling ? sorry im british)One fighter, one bomb.

As for jinking laser blast, yes you can jink them but mostly only if your not flying directly at the target. I'm sure anyone thats been in an MP shipwill realise this, that shooting at a target that isstraffing you isharder to hit than one thats coming directly atyou. This is exactly the same for the NPC ships.

>There are 2 types of ships in space.

>Awings and the scrap heaps they leave in their wake.

I couldn't agree more. My fastest SD and vette solo were in the Awing. It's ironic that so many rebels never ever use the best ship in the game.

Moreover, it is not a coincidence that the spawn points for rebels and imps are the targets for the other side in deep space. This was definitely to encourage PvP, not to make an impossible target for people to die over. The only times I've ever managed to squeeze PvP out of Deep Space was around the SD as I was blowing it up. Don't mis-interpret why these targets are here. If these targets were that impossible, people would simply retreat to their respective bases when in jeopardy so that the attackers would be vaporized, and that would be pretty lame. (People still try this on me, but in vain) Think about it, if I couldn't scratch the SD, why would player imperials risk their lives to come tangle with me? The SD would do that for them.

Also, don't forget that the intro sequence we saw a while ago about Xwings soloing SDs....the end of that transmission clearly said "the Imperials are so scared that they won't even risk their lives to save their capital ships." (rough quote) That was a verbal attack on YOU, theplayer imperials because you're not defending your mothership. So get out your Interceptors and prove to us that the Awing isn't all that instead of letting the SD die so much.

I do I fly an X-wing

Honestly each to there own mate. I prefer having a better role rate than you .. lol ..

I thinkeveryone should fly what they feelgood in, it would be like comparmour if everyone counted manuaverability as the be all and end all of space combat and honestly I've seen alot of spacepvp that wouldprovethat theA-wing as like any craftcan be pasted byany pilot in any ship.

You have a lower roll rate and a bigger ship profile. Definitely both are disadventageous when Deep Space is concerned.

i'd prefer not to fight awings however definately to each his own. i have smoked plenty of awings from my opressor.

the problem is MP ships are not the tanks they should be, due to shields geared towards <200k mass ships. if 200-300k mass shields were in the game with 20 recharge and 10000/10000+ front/back shields you'd see more people in those MP monsters and then you'll want the firepower a heavy fighter or bomber could dish out.

if you check the ship profiles at the top of the forum you'll see that and A-wing has a roll rate of 125 and an X-wing has a roll rate of 150. I have a bigger ship profile but I've been known to evade 5 players laying fire at me for around a minute.

Again I'm not flaming.. It's each to there own. I'm not saying X-wing are better or A-wing or even Y-wings... I'm saying Ipersonally fly better in an X-wing than an A-wing. You fly better in an A-wing than an X-wing and some prefer flying there B-wings.

Each to there own.

I don't see a problem with being able to get to the surface of the SD and attacking the components as you come to them. The PROBLEM is that there are no support ships to protect the ship. I was able to creep around the SD, taking out main components and guns in my B-Wing and take it down in about 15 minutes (this is my first time, so I was being extra cautious). I say leave the SD the way it is, just add support ships so it's a more realistic fight! Let each spawn generate, say 50 fighters (let's say 15 out at one time) and this would be much more fun to do.

I'll add my congratulations, but add a bit of a challenge. Imperial Aces, where were you?

This seems to embody the problem I've seen in Deep Space on Naritus, which is that there's nobody else there. Even on a Saturday and Sunday afternoon last weekend, I was the only pilot in Deep Space. It's just depressing. I understand that some people don't like how quickly space dogfights can end, but everybody, Rebel and Imperial, needs to show a little faction pride and get out there.

I'm not saying that the Star Destroyer on Naritus has never been destroyed, but if anyone wants to try while I happen to be in Deep Space, they'll have to turn me into an expanding cloud of debris first.
