No no, it's not about PvP in the slightest.

It's about my YT-1300 and my crew. After working and working on our specified roles, we were finally ready, and we did it - we destroyed the Imperial Star Destroyer.

Alone...

It took about 45 minutes to an hour of constant passes to finally take it out. Hitting that stupid Bridge is tough . But we did it...

And what did we receive?

Nadda. Well...14k and like 2000 xp each, but other than that...nadda. It was soooo...anti-climatic. Can't we at least get a badge?

"...has destroyed The Imperial Star Destroyer"

"...has destroyed The Rebel Alliance Star Base"

or something similair?

All I have to show for my work are some neato screenies, and a slight feeling of accomplishment being overshadowed by a feeling of "well...that's over" ness .

That is just wrong, a single ship (Talking about the ones we can get) should not be able to solo a Star destroyer nor a base. I dont care what setup and equipment it has, it should not be possible. Any single ship should be destroyed in less than a second for being close to that monstrosity lol. That said, congratulations to the both of you on your achievements, very impressive. Do you mind sharing your tactics? I just got master and yesterday was my first trip into deep space. Really like it there.

First get overcharge everything and make sure you ship is properly kitted out.

Then hopefully with no players about and a low spawn rate you are ready to begin.

Take out the ISD shields with your overcharged cannons. Come from the rear but do not fly staight at the shield gens. Aim above them dodging fire until you come into range then give the shield gen all you have and break off when the fire gets to heavy. Then either shield shunt or weight till you shields recharge and repeat.

As for the engines take them out from behind aswell.. one pass should normally do it moving from either side of the engine.

Then the reactors are just above the large ion cannons at the side. Come at those from the rear aswell aiming the ship a nose of the ISD until your in range again. Use torps and cannons here. Pulling out and recharging shields as needed.

Then the bridge. Move from the flanks of the ISD again avoid aiming the nose of you ship at the ISD until you in range. Using torps and cannons to finish the job.

Good luck pilots.

What's strange about the FP is that I saw clearly on my screen that I was awarded 10,000 FP... I hit CTRL+C, nope.. there ain't 10K there... more like 500

The thing to know about the SD, and the Vette, is that the turret shots can be dodged. I took out the SD solo last night in my Y-wing LP with Engine Overload 3. You fly in straight and as soon as the guns open fire on you you start jinking back and forth to avoid the incoming shots. The turrets fire at where you were, not where you were at... I could get in close to any component without taking a hit, unload fire with 3500 and 4700 guns with Weapon Overload 3 and the component would go down on the first pass or second pass. As soon as the component was down I'd hit boosters and blast out of range (1500m) jinking bank and forth on the way out. Let shield recharge if you had to and repeat. SD went down in under 15 mins. All 100 guns were still active.

For the Vette I do the same jinking thing for the lower turret (Weapon 5)... approach from below, when it opens fire, avoid the shots, when in range open fire, turret 5 down, aim down and front and booster out, deal with fighters if there are any, line up with front of vette slightly below (top guns won't be able to hit you)... approach on shields, one shield down... repeat. Turrets on Capitol ships can be easily avoided, just keep moving out of the way of the shots as they come up, the closer you get in the more difficult it may be but you'll have avoided a ton of damage on the way in and you may not start taking shots till you've come into weapons range of the component.

If only that worked for turrets on everything else. On top of that, the turrets on these ship are 5 times more powerful than the primary weps of equivalent tier fighters. PC turrets don't have that kind of modifier. And they rarely, if ever, miss. Jink however much you want to flying away or towards a gunship. It won't save you. The last Tier 3 mission for the Inquisition for instance.

The simple fact that mission based gunboats chase you down now, makes them that much tougher. Even just having the 'vette or the SD "spin" would nullify a lot of the benefits of these tactics. I'm not knocking the tactics btw, finding or making blindspots is perfectly valid, I'm just looking for a bit more challenge.

There is just something wrong with a SD being blown to pieces by just one fighter. It would be pretty cool if Ties would come out of the SD when attacked. The SD carries many ties so it would be normal that they come out to protect their mother ship.

Not to long ago there was an entry splash screen for SWG that commented on the fact that the SD could be solo'd by X-wings... the developers are aware of it... and it's working as intended apparently.

If you are talking about the entry screen that I am thinking, it said something about the rumors about a SD being shot down by a single X-Pilot to be true and was calling for the imp to defend them. However, if and SD can and should be shotdown by a single figheter then either the empire would have lost the war LONG time ago, or they would not waste money on such large vessels and would just make tie fighters since they are as effective and make them escort some cheap transport ships.

Unfortunately the reality of taking down the SD as a single fighter is in the game. Ideally we shouldn't be able to... additionally and ideally the Empire would have come up with a vacination shot for every disease created by a CM and the Jawa Ion rifle would never have made it off the surface of Tattooine.
