i'm kinda struggling with the same issue

My mind says: Go for the RoTW ships, they are the best you can have.

My heart says: Go for the JTL ships, they are 'original' ships, + they give the pilot more of a challenge.

And some other organ that i can't identify says: Go for the looks

I really don't know what to pick with other words

personally i steer clear of the small interceptor types. They contradict my flight style. I prefer the big arse heavy ships, such as my Krayt because of the sheer massive amounts of firepower i can put out. speed is nice...maneuverability is nice...but who needs em wen you can kill your enemy in one salvo

Belbullab: I like the fast as snail snot turning, and even though the guns aren't uberhot, they're good enough to work with, especially with overloads....add in the OL3's and it out turns and outshoots anything else in the game...

heavy X wing: decent turn, nice weapons load out...only disad is once the chassis is blown, there's no point flying it

x-wing: add strakes on it and it's a little less useless....but only a little

B wing: um....useless turns like a pob, the guns merge too far out...the devs got this one all wrong

y8: um....useless....can't mine with it....and as a gunboat, it's way too big imho

A wing: underweight, under armored, undergunned, the only thing it is good for is going really fast...and honestly, so what

Nova: the cure for vettes and gunships....just needs better missile launchers imho

Y wing longprobe: skip the guns and the cap, put two space bomb launchers in it and the heaviest armor and shields you can find....then fly it along side a nova for a great way to fix those gunboats in kessel...try it sometime...loads of fun

y-wing light: put strakes on your z95 instead....you will NEVER find a gunner for it

Arc 170: in theory the best anti fighter/escort platform outthere....except the lower gun needs to be inverted. I don't use mine.

By far the heavy x-wing. Have rebel, neutral and imp pilot. Non of the other ships are better than the heavy x-wing in my mind. Suits my play style perfectly

Don't argue with idiots, they just drag you down to their lvl and beat you with experience!!

All this is on my alt...

My Krayt is my Mining ship.

After that I like the Vaksai, currently armed with Cert 10 guns, and pile of RE'd kit. I also have a Heavy Scyke and Bell which I fly but mostly when I want to chew up A-Wings and Tie Advance fighters. All are equiped with RE'd guns of couse a set of 10's in the Scyke and 2 7's in the Bell. I find most anything I can solo with my Vaksai be it Corvette's, gunboats, and the Star Destroyer. Though I must say I think a solo ship should not even be able to get into gun range of a Star Destroyer in one piece.

It depends on the mood I'm in, and what I'm going to be doing:

Deep Space faction runs - 75% of the time I'm in my Opressor, the other times I take the Heavy. It lacks the pure firepower of the Op, but the handling of it makes up for it.

Noob xp runs - The Deci without a doubt

Helping lower level pilots - The Heavy or the Opget the call here, depends on if I'm in atank or turn and burn mood

Challenging PvE - My interceptor with no shields, just a little armor, it is good for about 2-3 shots from tier 5s, so very much like the old TIE Fighter games

PvP - Interceptor - the shields I could fit in it don't make a difference agaisnt 3 WO3'd guns in a X-wing, so I drop in more speed and firepower!

Mining - Tie Bomber, I can also drop the stuff in the Op, but the bomber has a use this way, lol

General cruising - The Deci

my favourite ship has to be the JSF. Not because i pwn everyone in that ship (I probably wouldn't if there was some decent PvP on FarStar :smileytongue,

but because it suits my flying style. I love the small, agile ships. If they would nerf the JSF (giving it a lot less mass for example), i would still fly it. If they would make it imp only (i'm reb), i would start flying the a-wing or the heavy Z-95.

I've tried flying the B-wing for a couple of weeks (it has the exact same stats as a POB ship, just a little worse ), but the heavy ships aren't my flying style. Every shot an enemy NPC takes at that B-wing gets registered as damage. Basically, the B-wing is just a tank. You can't evade any of the blasterfires. And i don't like that. I want to outmanouvre my enemy, i want to evade blaster bolts.

I also don't like using multiple ships for every occasion. That's why i use my JSF for every occasion. I probably would do better in PvE with a heavy X-wing or so, but again, the X-wing kinda acts as a tank...

Farstar PvP is so exciting.

About four hours of random NPC killage... then two or three nubs with crafted engine Actis' come along.

Thrilling.

I want to build a JSF for looks. I think I got a Texture Kit 6 on it and used a paint kit and it's all black and grey now.. I figure that once I get the RE Parts into it I'll spend about 40 million or so on it, if I dont find the RE parts myself. Just mainly for fun/looks.

My Opressor is the one I plan on playing for Pvp and pve if I can. Planning to drop about 25 million on this one, because Mass isnt quite as much of an issue. This will be my mainstay and probably the one I'll use when helping friends with missions.

Lastly I'll probably buy some multiplayer ship, Decimator or quest for the Y8 or YT-2400. Not sure which yet.. then I'll probably drop about 10 maybe 15 million on components for that ship so me and my friends can go fly together in space and blow the heck out of things.
