Fire Extinguisher: Yes, a really good idea there, could be craftable by shipwright or master artisan professions, or possibly

to be really extravagent have a fire extinguisher droid module from Droid Engineers to place in astromechs.

FOB Ships are crewed by 3+ people: So it would make sense that an FOB ship should be able to tackle most battles that 3 separate player ships can handle. The problem with this is that any FOB ship is 1 big easy to hit target, whereas 3 separate fighters are more difficult to hit and divide incoming fire from npc/enemy ships among them.

So a simple solution would be to make the FOB ships tougher ie. more shields/armor.

To keep from creating a whole new schematic for bigger tougher shields and armor maybe it would be easier to just place an additional hardpoint in the chasis for a 2nd Shield Generator?

I have always thought we should be able to double up on most of the components, so it would look like this on a ship terminal

  • Reactor 1

  • Reactor 2

  • Engine

  • Booster

  • Shield1

  • Shield 2

  • Armor f 1

  • Armor f 2

  • Armor r 1

  • Armor r 2

  • Weapon U 1

  • Weapon U 2

  • Capacitor U

  • WeaponL 1

  • WeaponL 2

  • Capacitor L

Always thought that would be a simple way to beef them up using exsisting components, not add anything that would be unbalancing to be squeezed into an Oppressor or B-Wing or Krayt.

SDI would solve quite a bit of MP ship survivability problems. Armor would still need some beefing up, but with SDI shield size could remain the same, maintaning PvE balance while greatly enhancing PvP survivablity.

That would also probably be the easiest way to code it as well without having to screw with loot tables and changing SW schematics. Seems it would be a good solution while getting what we are looking for accomplished.

Mons, you'd still be only using about 1 million mass with existing components and there's not much change in survivability. An X-Wing/Tie Advanced/Krayt, whatever will still nail that configuration in a single pass. What we need is a change not of double or triple the shield strength and armorof a multiplayer ship, but something closer to10X. As for firepower, that's rather tricky.

Very good point. So you are thinking along the lines of SUPER armor and shield that are just too heavy to put in anything else?

I would think (along those lines) that its something that is un-placable in other ships so we dont end up with a Krayt/Opp/B-wing running wround with 25K in shields.

Yup. But other posters in this thread have already brought it up. Your method of doubling up the gun slots, however, would be sheer devastation. The thought of 4 RE'd Level 10 blasters hammering away at something just makes me shudder. That would certainly give me pause before I attacked a player Decimator or YT in Deep Space. I like it!

OK so keep the double up on guns (maybe caps too) and then add in new shields and armor then can only be placed in the POB ships?

in addition to beefing up, or doubling or whatever to make these ships stronger, there are a couple of other things to help...

- loading ordnance from the inside- why not be able to reload the missile launchers while still in space? kinda like torpedo tubes in a submarine.

- replacing/repairing armor from the inside- other components can be repaired, why not armor?

- an independent turret- make it so that turret stays where the gunner is aimming instead of having it move as the pilot is making evasive maneuvers. subject to its field of fire of course... the turret shouldn't be able to shoot through the ship itself.

The newer more power stuff dosen't even have to be MP mountable only. Just make it have a really large mass. Make it so that the newer MP ships are 5 million. So lets say a 25K shield had a mass of 200K. Well I could fit that into a b-wing or Krayt but not much else would go in there.

Why recode the components.. why not the ships themselves? The ships obviously require greater power output a distribute them accordingly.. I larger ship would have more power and psuh this power out to all systems.. So why not just say that a shield placed in a MPC has ten times the power it is boosted by being in a larger ship. eg a 2.4k rear and front shield getsboosted to a 24kfront a rear.. with therecharge rateall increased in the same manner.

or

Have this calculated by what reactor you put in the craft. eg a 16457kreactor would times 16.4 x 2.4 (2.4k shield..)so to components would react with each other on more levels.. perhaps have one reactor just for the shields to account for this.

I'm 99.9999999% certain that its the newer MP ships that are 5million mass, and the older ones are 500k mass. Might be worth double-checking that fact before writing up your proposals Corryspondent .

(Of course there is still the chance I'm wrong and will look like an idiot by saying that)

I very well could be. I know that they were 5 mill at launch (I crafted a few on my alt) then at some point were switched to 500K, they could be back at 5 mill, I have not crafted any in a long while (don't do much SW any more). Post here or PM me if I am wrong, happy to admit it

and I have confirmaition I think......

ALL POB Ships are still at 5 mill

Thanks for whacking me around when needed pilots!
