Thread: That name is unacceptable

They censored "The" because people try to put the word "The" in front of ship names where it doesn't belong. For example, the name of Han Solo's ship is the "Millenium Falcon", not "The Millenium Falcon". In that instance, "the" is just the article of speech that needs to appear, gramatically, in order to form a proper sentence. If it was called "The Millenium Falcon" then you would have to say, "Han Solo's ship is the The Millenium Falcon," and I think we can all agree that that is dumb.
What they need is a filter that stops "The" from being the FIRST word in a ship name.

That name is unacceptable.
Though, Jundland Phoenix was accepted. Maybe three word names aren't acceptable?
20 character name limit is what kept you down bro.As far as the rest, no clue. Enchantress, anything with "The"....wierd. Anyone wanna test and see if it rejects anything with TIE, Rebel, Imperial, Princess, Millenium, Falcon, X-wing, etc franchise words are useable?
20 character limit. Cool didn't know that one. Thanks but, Twin Sun Raider is unacceptable. Thats only 15.

I have not ran into this issue yet. I have two ships named "Hell with Wings, and Hell with Wings II". There did not seem to be a problem with that. It seems weird that they are rejecting so many other names that have no direct connection to anything revelant. Where as I was abel to refer to "Hell", oh well dono, what can one say SWG has some weird things about it. Good luck to all.

During Beta I was actually able to name my ship "Millenium Falcon". Some rather obscene names were allowed as well. However, some of the stupidest thigns are not allowed. Names of planets, species, the, 0, etc.
Ship names are more or less for yourself anyways. The names allowed should be pretty relaxed.

Ship names use the same filter as player names. If you can't use a word for a player name then you can't use it for a ship name either.
This is the same filter they use for vendor names too. You can't use the name General Merchandise for a vendor because ranks are not allowed in player names.
They really need to have a less restrictive filter for ships names. While a player named Major Pain would be unacceptable, it is a perfectly valid name for a ship.

I was wondering if Ship names cant be called things from Star Wars books movies EU etc. I tried to name my ship Thanos from a comic book character. Is this also a name from Star Wars some where? I tested that by trying to name mine Falcon, which worked, Millenium, which worked but Millenium Flacon would not. Also tried Decimator (which was accepted, strangely enough).
So, is Thanos a character or ship from EU?

An added note, I also tried 'Lady Luck' which didn't work, then 'Ebon Hawk' which did. What the heck is going on here?

KotOR stuff doesn't seem to be filtered. I know people with the last name Revan, and I could probably make a character named Canderous Oro (I think that's his surname) if I wanted to.

I wanted to name my X-Wing "Echantress" but it was rejected. I'm not a native english speaker so I don't know if there is some kind of meaning behind this word that is beyond me... from an online translater it just means "magic woman" freely translated. Dunno...
No, that should be OK. Starwars.com doesn't come up with anything in the databank. Maybe the Star Wars universe is so strict with the Force that they don't allow magic, but I don't know. If ship names use the same filter as character names, then it's possible that a person or another ship has that same name and that's why you can't use it. Just a thought though.
