reckon youve never been to Austin or San Diego, if you had youd know Hell IS an acceptable alternative compared to those towns

The name filter is almost as bad as the profanity filter. Did you realize that "Jesus" and "Christ" get filtered by the profanity filter, however "Buddha" or "Buddah"do not??? I was testing it with a friend the other day and we were both baffled.... Things we would think shouldnt be filtered were, and others that should, were not.
I am a parent and if my son was old enough to play the game I'd use the profanity filter but heck, what goodwould it do, most kids old enough to play this game and understand it use those words more than most adults anyways.
I"m all for filtering stupid things like misspellings of sexually explicit acts/parts/etc, but to keep us from calling our ship 'The Christmas Goose' is flat out silly.
Edit- WOW!!! it posted without having to hide the words in quotes above. This board is almost as bad as the in-game filters.

Apparently the word "bomber" gets rejected too. I tried naming one of my ships "Blue Bomber", and it failed. If it's like the reverse-engineering restrictions, it might also reject numbers (requiring you to use roman numerals if you want a number in the name).

some of the naming restrictions seem odd to me....ive seen ships with names such as:
Hairy Beaver
Slippery Beaver
SHAVED BEAVER
Sexy Beaver
it allows these..........but not more....non-vulgar and cool names? w t f?

I also found 'of' to be in with 'the'. My Rhikx is 'Kashyyyk's Revenge', although I first tried 'Revenge of Kashyyyk' and got rejected. On a side note, before I scrapped it for my YT, my yacht was named 'Dirty Dinghy'.

I've named my yacht 'lizard mack,'my xwing 'green machine,' and my nova 'Tardis.' I tried to name the nova 'Scaley Hide' but it was changed back to default.

Perhaps these restrictions exist because a ship is already named so. Sort of like character names.

I wanted to name my Sororsuub Yacht "White Elephant" but the server rejects the word Elephant. Obviously to stop me naming my sub for what it really is. The devs have _no_ sense of humour.. /grump

Crazy thing is, I wanted to name my Decimator 'Nebula Demon' but apparently the server rejects the use of the word Demon (Though there are Desert Demon's on the ground, so go figure...) I was forced to resort to 'Nebula Deamon' instead.

I used to call my dunelizard RSF Rawl..... three days later, I see an NPC ship named the same thing.... coincidence?
