Alternatively .. post what server your on and I'm sure some real Aces will be happy to help you out. I know I find most of my enjoyment now from helping others get up to ace.

I always like to hear wow you made that look easy.

I agree this is stupid. On the newbie end of things I am stuck on my 2nd tier mission and can't gain anymore exp till I beg someone to help me beat it I flat out can't in my current ship (Tie Fighter one after light duty). Multiplayer game? Ask imperial pilots everytime I see them if they have any spare time and 90% of the time I'm just ignored. What about us solo players? What if we are guildless and don't know anyone on a server? Is this EverRaid? =\

No one here brought up PvP before you did, but a gunboat is currently the top PvE challenge at the moment, its worth it to put it at the door to mastery. If "all you want" is to hang out, then find someone good to do this mission for you while you watch from 1500m. Our point is, that some people going through pilot thrive on the challenge of learning how to overcome an obstacle like this. You're obviously not, so why should we agree to dumb down the game for you and your kind, when you can simply come find one of us to help you? JtL isn't the ground game, it doesnt equate. The design concept is a skill based environment where personal skill marks progress more than simple time investment. You have been mistaken in thinking that experience points= reward, but since it is theoretically possible to get 7.5million xps just sitting in the lounge of an MP ship, there is no way what you're asking for will happen. That's something that has corrupted the ground game, and I don't want to see it here too.

Obviously your political gambit has failed, so why not take the opportunity to sit down, post about the tactics you've been using, and get some good advice from the people who know how to beat this? Don't sulk, don't get defensive, let go your bruised ego, and learn.

Try asking a Neutral, we like to party, and we have sexier paint jobs. Seriously though, every time I have sent a tell to someone of any faction, I got a hand (often several hands when it came to a 'vette mission)

This is, sadly, all too true. I know how you feel, I'm in a very quiet Guild at the mo, and the ones who are on are Jedi Grinders who haveno time for space.

When I mastered Smuggler's Alliance I had help from 1 or 2 Rebel Aces(I will NEVER forget their help, even though they think nothing of it, it meant a lot to me.) Now I'm working on Imp, 4-3-3-3. I've had much less luck finding people to help, every Imp Ace I know(Not many on my server) is always "busy" or just flat out ignores my requests for help. I know only Reb aces who would help, but of course they can't as my missions/grinding revolves around shooting Rebels down.

Just the other day, I was in Coro(Long shot I know) and did a couple of shouts of "Help with Tier 4 Imp Grind please"(Short version of course.) Nothing. At all. No suprise though, so as I'm about to log off, I get a tell from a guy, asking me if I can help him with a Tier 3 Corsec Mission, I of course agree, with great pleasure. So we get grouped, run through the mission, and up we go, we get through the mission, and then come to the end of it, the bit he can't do, a Gunboat with 6 escorts, now I'm only flying a TIE Advanced with crap parts, but I give it a go, and to my suprise, I annihilate the gunboat with a series of careful runs, however the gunboats weps and the escorts left me near dead, I hang on for as long as I can once the gunboat went down, but just as I was about to hyper, they disabled my engines, EJECT, BOOM! However as I'm repairing I get a message from the guy I'm helping "OMG! YOU DID IT, THANK THANK THANK YOU!!!" Etc, you get the idea I'm sure. I say the usual, "No probs, was great fun, anytime." And you know what, even though I died and lost condition on my ship/parts, I hadn't smiled so much all day, I felt great, like I'd really accomplished something, and made a difference to someone.

Its a shame there isn't more of that around, people are far too selfish and into themselves these days it makes me sick.

Maybe its just your servers.. I know plenty of pilots on Chimaera that are happy to help in both factions. And the regular top aces can usually be found sharing battle stories in coronet starport. (Me being one of them)

What we have on Chimaera tho is a real kind of ranking system. We have a leader for the Imp and leader for the rebs who between them organise fights for the rest of us. Knowing who these people are also helps because if your busy you can point whoever needs help in there direction because they will normally know if any vette groups or other people are on to assist. This wasn't even organised itself it just kinda happened as we have alot of nice people willing to take the time to help.

I personnaly will help out anyone I see struggling and constantly invite noobs to join my tier 4 duty missions so they can get fast xp. I don't like helping them to much because obviously I want them to develop there own skills and actually deserve the right to become a master.

To the poster I'm sorry that your struggling and there is no help around because some of these missions do require it, but these missions are hard so asanother poster said .. to make it meaningful. At theend of the day you don't want to do that, you want to coast to the master title well frankly that an Insult to the rest of the Aces that deserve there titles... andnotthe ones the piggy back onOUR success.

That is a good point, and something to remember, it shouldn't be an easy grind, and I AM glad its not.

Although I had help at times to master Smugglers Alliance, I worked very hard to get there, and when I finally finished it, I was on a massive high, felt so good, and better because it took a LOT of hard work to get there.

My rules:

  1. I will not help you grind tier 4 xp.

  2. I will not help you with tier 1 or tier 2 missions unless you have tried them yourself already.

  3. I will not help you with the 30 kessel kills for the first ace mission (unless you find the vette in system already, in which case I'll come disable the vette and help finish out your last kills so you can go get the vette mission, and come back and blow it up)

  4. I will not help you look for the vette, call me when it's there

Other than that I'll pretty much help with any mission I can as an Imperial Ace. I'm sure there are people like me on any server, just gotta find them. Ask around, they're generally fairly well known, as they have dozens of people they've helped ace.

To Fightmaster Jorak

I know the day I made ace was awsome. Because I like the pilot challanges I'm a reb through and through.. but I considered dropping reb and going imp becauseI hear that the storm squad missions a truely hard and I want to see how I fare against them. Maybe I'll just go onto another server and do them??? mm

Anyway if no one on your server is willing to help others then become the one who does, make yourself known to other pilots as the one who can be counted on to help. Then more pilots will follow and recommend you and as this works you'll have plenty of people who are willing to help you in return.

Alsoyou commented that you helped someone else with there mission.. but you didn't ask for there help in return? Its quite common on my server for groups of pilot to form all having a mission to do.. then the all assisteach other witheveryones mission.Strong groups form this way, and pilots you can sometimescallupon later to help again..Its all adds up.

I am working on my 2nd Tier 4 box, so I didn't have any missions to do, and remember he was only Tier 3, so it would've been a little too hot to handle for him I thinks.

I actually help out quite a lot in space, and never ask for anything in return, I try and set an example, pity others don't seem to do the same.

Its good to know I'm not the only pilot out there who enjoys helping others.

This mission isn't impossible. None of the missions are. Some are exceptionally difficult, but JTL was designed to encourage grouping. You're not meant to solo everything.

I've got about 1400 hitpoint shields and 500 hitpoint armor on my Dunelizard. I've strafed the Freedom Station with every one of it's guns shooting at me and I still come out the other side intact, so this mission is not impossible. The trick is knowing your ship and knowing how to attack your enemy. If you go into this mission without EO3 and WO3, expect to die. Without those, you'll be exposed to enemy fire for much longer periods of time. Capacitor-to-shield shunt 4 is a lifesaver in these situations, too.

Your first objective should be the fighters. Obviously, the fewer guns you have shooting at you, the better. When you attack the gunboats, take into account what they are. People make the same mistake when flying the multipassenger ships. It's not a fighter, it's a gun platform. If you treat it like a fighter, if you try and joust it, expect to die. Instead, aproach from the underside. Target the engines and boost towards the gunboat with your guns blazing. You can either break away once you get close and turn back the way you came, or just push on through. Keep that up for a few runs and eventually the engines will go down. Move on to the other one and once they're both disabled, you can park underneath them and blast away until mission successful.

A friend and I took on a pair of Tier Five gunboats that were less than 75m apart using the above technique. Even with nebula lightning causing graphical lag we still took them down in a couple minutes.

And for future reference, if you try something eight times and fail all eight tries, you might consider re-evaluating your tactics. Just a suggestion.

Very nice rules to live by I think

I do work with a few of the group that totaly kill #4 (run squads that help on the vette master mission). Its not that I disagree with that rule, you have a great point. I just tend not to follow that myself....
