What, Pre or Post? If Post(Got a 22.Xk one myself), as far as I've seen it's like one person(of the RE Shipwright/Pilots that have been collecting since launch) could get one of these, and never got better(one per person, I mean; and that includes alternate characters/accounts).

Now...if you'd gotten TWO better than this, THEN I'd be impressed(especially if you looted both yourself). This has been one of the big things I've been searching for, PRIMARILY, above just about all else(Especially since there's no doubt they won't fix the RED bug retroactively, be too much work).

Do these even drop lower than 26k anymore?

A couple months ago I dropped/remastered pilot and managed to put together a nice .69/.69 22.5k RE borstel.

The week following that, I found a pre-re .667 vs. shield and a pre-re 22.5k mass... .. .

I felt both elated and a wave of exhaustion coming from a future effort that week.

Well... I do have a couple decent mass items other than the one I mentioned, and I didnotice your sig, there...

If you've got an extra low mass L10 engine, we might be able to make a deal.

Define "Extra Low". The one in the project is the lowest to date I have(ever).

Edit: But the next three down aren't too farfrom it.

Edit 2: Or did you mean an "Extra" of the low mass ones I have? heh

I'm still not quite sure you know why that ticks us off. If you want to offer advice on looted parts, that's great. It sounds like your guide will do that well. But If you want to tell people what to do with their stuff, and suggest they are ignorant or foolish to do otherwise is in bad form and compromises the integrity of an otherwise great guide. That you might do so in a condescending tone would only make things worse. A shipwright can have any reason they want not to sell a component to another person. Maybe they want a firespray, maybe they dont want good parts winding up with the wrong faction, or maybe they dont want to take the time to learn all the ins and outs of every piece of space loot that comes their way. Whatever the reason, it's none of your business. It's None Of Your Business! Furthermore, the presumption of your gripe is that you weren't given a chance to buy the part at a steal price on the bazaar. Otherwise, why does it matter? Realise that if your guide educates everyone to what their parts are worth, you may stop seeing bad RE jobs on the bazaar, but you'll also stop seeing good deals on pre RE good parts. Either way, you have to take the good with the bad.

"Extra" meaning an an additional low mass (non-best) engine hanging around. Anyway... Err... I'm pretty sure this thread wasn't intended to be a discussion between you and I. Should take it in-game or to PM or something.

Hey, any thread can have that happen, heh.

you're right. it's for the same reason that any great CA or AA i find on the ground, i immediately put in a pice of 0 condition armor. wouldn't want it falling in the wrong hands, and who are the combatants on the server to tell me what to do with MY execeptional tapes? maybe i WANT a +25 rifle speed 0 condition piece of battle armor. who is anyone to make fun of me for wanting it?

ppfft. just like you have every right to make a collosally stupid decision when RE'ing a part, people have the right to criticise that decision. IMO there needs to be a SWG wide "hall of RE stupidity" thread, but if jotun wants to keep it part of his thread, that's his business. and really, insinuating SW's make poor decisions on purpose? you'd be an enormous hack. drop shipwright if you have EVER done something like that on purpose. that's 1000X worse than doing it unintentionally, which just deserves some good natured ribbing.

That's a nice dumbed down analogy illustrating two narrow examples of the infinite reasons someone might not want to sell looted parts. Here's a better one.

I know of people who started hoarding nightsister biceps when it became apparent they would not be dropping again. They would buy them up for a million a piece, a ridiculous amount at the time. Some of these people destroyed some of their biceps to make them even more rare. A short-sighted simpletonmight have called this a "collosally stupid decision" at the time. Now that they go for over 50 mil a piece, maybe said simpleton would at least drop the "collosally" part. And maybe in another year when they are going for a couple hundred mil, we can all agree that the hoarder is a genius.

Sometimes "poor decisions" are only poor to those who do not understand the decision.

Just because you aren't smart enough to have come up with the idea to drive up the prices in the market for exceptional loot by destroying the loot you have...

...

...what the hell am I saying?

I'm sorry, but I can't really stop and say, "Destroying items is a stroke of genius!" because it isn't. I just tried. It made my head feel a little numb to attempt to type it out.

Hording, hiding, and slowly releasing/reselling said horded items to make supply seem small--yes. That's a shrewd move.

DESTROYING items outright to drive up price? Nope, sorry. Not buying the "brilliance" of that.

If I had an inventory of Black Sun helmets filling my bank account right now, I wouldn't destroy 80 of them and sell the last 20.

I'd sell a couple. Current price is 25M on my server. Then I'd wait a week. Sell a couple more.

i only wish i was smart enough to have realized that earlier. damn.

persoally i think jotun should write his guide the way he wants, and all the people who don't agree can write their "hacks guide to shipwright and business". please, send me an autographed copy, i'm pretty sure i have a vendor full of rare parts that i can delete.
