Thread: why no b-wing pilots?

a guildie of mine only ever flies his b-wing. far as i can tell he never uses any other ship. and if he does, it's extremely rare. guy swears by it. i think he's nuts myself, but i'm more a speed and maneuverability guy, whereas he tends to lean more towards the extra offense...

but i doubt it's anything i'd ever be caught dead in (and if i flew it, i'd definitely be dead... i know this)

Im thinking about finally upgrading to a B-Wing after about a year as a rebel ace (never even bought/made one yet) ive got the parts to make a 80 p/y/r 95 speed lv10 engine although its (like my lv8) stuck on mass. All i know is my riyhxyrk w/t 3 decent guns slaughtered in PvE and i didnt even run a WO program. Will be a nice gunboat killer i think

Several reasons:

  • It needs 4 RE'd guns
  • Level 10 RE'd engine
  • You need to commit yourself to it to learn to fly it, something not many people are willing to do with the JSF/Bel-22 and heavy-x available

My current B-wing is pretty flyable, but working on several components to free up mass to install better armor and missile launchers. At least 30k mass locked up in components that could be lighter. 244k sounds like a lot of mass, but with 4 guns and a heavy engine it's gone quick.

All in all, B-Wing pilots are rare and already know what they're doing. The reward is good though, the firepower you can quickly bring to bear on a target is awesome

Don't mean nothin' 'f you can't bring dat stuff to center.

As I said, I've got enough kills that I don't need B-Wing ones to pad my ratio.

I used to use the B-Wing as a PvE slayer. Three level 9 guns and a level 7 in the farpoint. VERY little survived a full barrage.

I fly a B-Wing. It's not my first ship of choice for every situation, but I fly it frequently. True, it's a slug, but with a massive near-80 PYR level 10 engine it doesn't handle quite so miserably.

The two characters on my main account are Rebel Aces and each flies two ships. Aucka flies the Advanced X-Wing and a B-Wing. Krysemi flies a Longprobe (Bloodfin's original Y-Wing-of-Death with about 25k worth of max damage from the two guns at the press of a button) and an A-Wing.

A lot of people tend to gravitate towards what's best. It's only natural. In the case of Alliance pilots, that ship is the Advanced X-Wing. I, personally, tend to gravitate towards what I like, whether it's the best or not, depending on the circumstances. If I'm just farting around doing this or that, I'll fly whatever ship I feel like flying. I like the B-Wing a lot, but it definitely takes a lot of getting used to.

the biggest hurdle is the inertia. after flying it for a week, i learned to not oversteer quite often, but i still would not have dreamed of pvping in it.

I think the best advice is to play a ship towards its strengths and not against it's weaknesses. Even with a tremendous level 10 engine, the B-Wing still does not maneuver well enough for an actual PvP dogfight. True you could still turn a smaller circle than a lot of guys out there, but nowhere near as fast. To play to the strengths, if you're taking it into PvP, equip an REd level 8 shield, and adjust it to extreme front. Bind all 4 guns and both launchers to one button.Fly straight at your PvP target at half throttle. As soon as you start hearing the missile lock tone, start mashing that button. 4 guns and 2 MK4 protons are gonna blow someone up before they get 1 or 2 guns through about 6000 front shield str in front of 2000 front armor

We know its a dog. That has never been denied. The question at hand is how to change it from a chihuahua to a Rottweiler.

I think I am the only one atleast on ahazi that has PvPed with a B-Wing. It is all a matter of getting the biggest engine you have(currently a 84 YPR 100 speed lvl10 for me), than weapons on the ship before worrying about anything else, and being able to predict where the target is going and adjust for the inertia of the ship. Also having a big capacitor to do shunts with is a big help since you can't dodge many shots.

I have had good success PVE with the B-Wing. It requires patience and practice to control. The wide spread of the guns give you more room for error in firing; and if you are accurate, 4 guns will punish your enemies quickly. The high mass also allows for heavier components.

You must stay at less than half throttle if you want any chance of maneuvering successfully.

I enjoy using this ship for duty runs, it tears through TIEs. Holds its own in Deep Space and Kessel, but you cannot just recklessly dive into 10 red dots and expect to win. The extra firepower is useful to take things down faster there.

I love my B-Wing and fly it almost exclusively. But a good pilot uses all the tools at his or her disposal, so I will grudgingly pull out an A-Wing or Heavy X-Wing when necessary.

i'm a bwing pilot its just takes a pilot that has the touch to fly desently and it takes practice. with right engine and equipment it can be fairly fast and manuverable but you need to stay on your toes with it. and use small and yet smooth motions on the joystick cause its very easy to overcorrecct with it since with a fast engines with decent ypr rates it flys like an ice skate and doesn't stop on a dime. but you also dont want a good bwing pilot on your tail either cause all its guns can seriously hurts and yes i've gotten a few pvp kills in mine

just forget about the time line it nolonger exits her hasn't for some time. we're in a virtual star wars universe and it our time line not the movies. so its what we make of this universe ourselves. once this is realized then you'll start having fun

I hated my B-wing until I got a lvl 10 engine with good ypr and good speed. it was still too sluggish to PvP in and hte firepower gave me no advnatage at all because my weakest guns were always hitting.

It is an extremely difficult ship to fly but if you learn to fly it is rewarding. Personally I use my JSF more often with a crafted engine with high speed and low 60 yprso the "noob" nerfers dont get mad and with 2 quick fire guns i was able to take out enemies just as fast with it as my B-wing and didnt have to worry about over turning. Perhaps i didnt give ti enough time but im leaving the slot open so i can waste all my hard earned money on hte firespray.
