Thread: why no b-wing pilots?
Gonna sound grumpy here, bear with me...
A week, maybe two weeks back were several threads about the B-Wing, with some pilots being very successful in them. In the same way, you'll find many older threads, largely against it for it's handling. However, much has been written about the B-Wing, so it's very unfair to make a statement along the lines of, "I have not seen any one talking about the b-wing, is there something wrong with it?" without doing a bit of research.
Such a wealth of knowledge on these forums, lost to those who will not search it out.
On Starsider, Dashka flew a B-Wing2 events agoand flew it EXTREMELY well (don't think he died withmany kills). Contact him for uber B-Wing advice.
EDIT: If you watch Addy's Fraps of that event, the B-Wing you see briefly outturning a enemy fighter is him

1.) Li finally learned to spell "Starsider"! ![]()
2.) Dashka hates when we call him the uber B-wing pilot. ![]()

i agree with you there...and now if only sony would fix there searchengine. how hard can that possibly be?
Several reasons:
- It needs 4 RE'd guns
- Level 10 RE'd engine
- You need to commit yourself to it to learn to fly it, something not many people are willing to do with the JSF/Bel-22 and heavy-x available
My current B-wing is pretty flyable, but working on several components to free up mass to install better armor and missile launchers. At least 30k mass locked up in components that could be lighter. 244k sounds like a lot of mass, but with 4 guns and a heavy engine it's gone quick.
All in all, B-Wing pilots are rare and already know what they're doing. The reward is good though, the firepower you can quickly bring to bear on a target is awesome ![]()
I've been flying my B-Wing more recently over my A-Wing and I've come to appreciate what it has to offer. Currently, mine's loaded up with 3 level 7 blasters and the Ionic pulse weapon and the amount of firepower it can pour out is mind-boggling.
In deep space I can take out a Tier5Decimator in one strafing run using WO3 and blasters alone.
PvP can be trickier since you'll die really fast if anyone can bring a weapon to bear on you for very long (I got killed in 3 hits loading into a zone once by a Decimator...I was down before I could even start the engies up).

Well, after flying a TIE bomber (same handling as a b-wing, just less mass and guns.), I can give you a bit of advice. The real trick is to stay at 40-50% throttle and no matter what, NEVER EVER pull the joystick all the way over to one direction. The trick is to be very gentle with the joystick and take the turns slow. This will actually save you time when turning because if you pull too hard and then switch direction or stop turning, your ship will continue to move in that direction for a second or two. Flying like this, I was able to take on tier 5 a-wings in deep space in a bomber (and5-6 at a time at that, along with other fighters).
I disagree with that, you do have to compensate for the inertia but the best way to do it is to estimate where your target is going to be and stop pulling on the stick early. You then let the inertia carry it the rest of the way and open up.

It handles like a TIE Bomber.
hmmm... i rather disagree. while the TIE Bomber is quite sluggish, inertia is not nearly as bad as in the B-Wing, and is thus easier to learn to fly.
when/if i ever go back to rebel pilot (currently, i find my Krayt better than both the B-wing and the Adv. X-wing for PvE and theres not PvP on eclipse anyways) ill be quite happy to loadup my lvl 8 RE guns and kill gunboats (these are my favorite targets... theres just something awesome about seeing the damage 4 lvl 8 RE guns will do) in my B-Wing.
the biggest hurdle is the inertia. after flying it for a week, i learned to not oversteer quite often, but i still would not have dreamed of pvping in it. anyone that takes a B-Wing to pvp and able to kill/stay alive has mastered their profession, and i /applaud them for it.
but as for me... KRAYT FTW!
