Thread: why no b-wing pilots?

You'll only be able to improve the B-Wing's handling so much, I'm afraid, as the chassis YPR acceleration is going to be your biggest stumbling block, which can't be overcome (it's extremely low).

Yeah I know I can only improve things slightly, just got to keep flying it until I get used to it.

I used to think my firespray handled badly at first but now I can run rings round most things, just need to practice

One thing that helped me with the B-Wing was to turn up the control inertia a touch. Just enough to take the edge off the responsiveness. Its sure as hell nothing I'd want to do in PvP, but for PvE, it helped a lot with the porpoising.

Out of interest, has anyone tried it as a mining ship?

I can imagine 1 mining laser, 1 tractor beam and 2 nice lvl 7 crafted advanced blasters would keep you alive and mining nicely even when mining in dangerous areas.

Heck, put a Type V cappie in the bad boy, slap 4 mining lasers in it and rock & roll (literally ) A good pilot with four Type III Mining Lasers should have no trouble, even in Kessel.

Im a Bwing Pilot, It is a great ship but as every seems to have noticed it has issues. To get the best out of it you will need to get some great parts for it. 2 Lev 10 guns and 2 Lev 8s a good REed Starmap engin reward shields and a some im-rec 2s for those all those people who flyJSFs and the like.

I would have to say I prefer the ADV Xwing for PvP tho.

id rather fly a standard xwing than a bwing, much less the 180k advanced x.

you lose some firepower, but you more than make up for that with your ability to apply your guns to a target.i dont care if you dish out more dmg per shot than a deathstar, its a moot point if smaller ship candestroy a target in less time than it takesa bwing to bring its guns to bear.

me with my adv-xand three re'd l10 guns can out kill ANY bwing pilot.

I wish we IMPs had something caparable to the HVY X-wing. And missile ships do not count.

And the JSF is not IMP exclusive.

As for the B-wing, like the poster a few steps up was true. The enemy has to go head on to you in order to start the fight. With some good weapons and going slow enough to buy time for missil lock and your shield shunt front, you shouild shread anyone apart before they can get past you and behind you. Just have to make every shot count. Heck, aim for the engines and the guy is SO screwed.

LOL, Remember only shoot pirate ships. IMPs are your friends.

Another reason why you probably dont see it a lot is because it takes 120k in resources to build it.

Unless you want to provide grind resources you're probably asking a SW to sacrifice a ton of resources for little value...

If your steel, etc is worth 500k-1M credits for 100k, plus you want to mark it for the effort, I can see how there are rare to find.

Cost of product, dedication to learning the ship/performace, and... the reality that CheezeWhiz is all chemicals is enough to discourage themajority.

I was fortunate enough to find the best mass on galaxy vendor search for300k and all I could think of is how awful it must be to figure out you just stiffed yourself over the value of resources alone.

But thats my thought.

Agree, much easier that way.

I fly my b-wing almost exclusively on my ace character. One main key is loading the proper equipment. The other is forcing yourself to stick with it, and learning how it flies.

The other night my friend got a b-22 and was eager to fly it. I thought,"What the heck. I have not flown my b-22 in quite a while. I will get mine and join him on his tier 4 missions." He is freelance, and the last part of his mission spawned 2 gun boats, and not the kessel kind that fly in nice slow patterns. These ones chasedand blew the crap out of all four of us. There was also the customary fighter escort to deal with. After the other 3 got blown up or disabled, I hypered clear and went to DS to repair.

Then I got out the b-wing. I loaded up twin IR2 missile launchers, and we all headed back out to re-run the mission. We lost one of our group because it was so late. I blew all 14 missiles, and lost all my front armor, but we managed to knock out those gunboats without anyone having to eject.

I feel the b-wing is too quickly dismissed by those who will not take the time to learn how to fly it. It is not the universal "I win" for all situations, but it definately has its strengths

It's just a tad difficult to fly as it has some crazy intertia going on.

I've been flying mine on and off when there's nothing else going on and trying to get the hang of it, it's 4 gun ports make mincemeat out of most targets but I'm still trying to get the hang of finding a good turning speed on it.

I'm grinding my alt up to master shipwright so I can stuff a nice lvl 10 RE engine in and see if I can improve the handling a little.
