If you go overt in space (deep space or kessel) you can grind around 2k fsxp/hour, just convert your fps in the combat xp.

The difference is not that hard to see. The difference is this: Combat, crafting, scouting etc are connected to the FS system. The FS system is indeed just additions to the previous systems I just mentioned. The FS system enhances ground game skills, hence we can use ground based XP to "grind" it.

Space, however, is completely disconnected from the FS system in all possible ways (And it should remain that way). There is no reason to actually let people use prestige to grind the FS skills, since the FS skills doesn't enhance the pilot skills.

And it would only take about 225 hours or so to grind the fourth skill in the FS skill lines that way!

... The sad part here is that someone would probably do it...

Let me be very clear here. I don't want to see FS skills in any way effect space or JTL. However JTL and SWG are not completely disconnected systems. When you die in space you take wounds the same as when you die on the ground. When you spend credits in space or when you buy your ship and its components you are using the same credits that you earned on the ground or vice versa. Furthermore you can grind FPs in space and then use them on the ground or even convert them to FS.

We can argue the relationship of various systems till the next year's Life Day but let's be very very honest with each other here. The purpose of the FS system is to discourage people from becoming Jedi. SOE put themselves in a real pickle with the whole Jedi thing. The policy went from "We won't see any Jedi for several years" to "Well... There'll be one or two per server" to "Here's some free Holocrons" to "Let's have 70% of the community become Jedi"

Again, one hour of gameplay is one hour of gameplay. Blasting B-Wings in my TIE just feels a whole lot more like Star Wars than punching dogs on Dant...

And this is why it will never be implemented. It's a boring grind to keep everyone from doing it.

I would have to agree with Anzel. If you are sinking hours into playing the game it shouldn't matter what aspect of the game you are playing. Personally I hate the fact that the whole Jedi system is just another grind. I grinded almost 20 profession a year ago when I was trying to unlock Jedi. It got to the point that I was so sick of this game I quit for a year and deleted my character. I figured that way I would never try to do that profession if I came back. Perhaps I miss the point of "Playing a game"but last I checked it was supposed to be fun.I am not too inspired to grind hurrton or picket spawns 8 hours a day for the next three months just so I can hold a lightsaber. They traded one grind for another, so what was the point of the revamp.I was under the impression that it was going to actually be quest based, instead it is just a grind like everything else in the game. At least if we have to suffer through the asinine system they could be nice enough to let you do something, dare I say fun for your grind.

I reckon that Jedi skills should be integrtated into space. If it weren't for FS skills, the deathstar would be alive and well, The Empire would be "the" force in the galaxy, Luke would be dead, along with however many planets weren't aligned with the empire, or just made the emporer feel like blowing them up.

How would you do this? I don't know. I have no understanding of how to program games, or how to make the force into AI. I just know that to be true to the starwars theme, there should be some kind of integration.

Now, why the heck doesn't Shipwright crafting convert? tell me that!

The whole point of space is that it is entirely skill/ship based, nothing to do with innate skill mods. Adding the jedi in there would add in the innate skill mods, and again just like on the ground you'd have people that are better just because they spend more time grinding a support skill.

I don't think anyone is asking for Jedi's in space, they are asking for the ability to convert the worthless prestige points into FS points like you can do with every other skill in the game. That way instead of grinding dogs over and over, you could just have fun killing ships.

which is why it will probably not happen. grinding out fs xp is not about fun, it's about tedium. if they made it fun, everyone would do it. hell i would do it, but i won't do the ground grind. as master ch/master rifle/ medic, im out of sp, and have done pretty much everything there is to do on the ground. yay, lets go kill a path across endor and covert the xp. wooo, im having gun now.

and that's why. getting a jedi has to suck, so when you get one, you can feel superior to everyone who didn't go thru the suckfest. it's all about the 'nah nah, im a jedi and you aren't' factor.

Very well said. Also I'd like to remind everyone that the 'SW' in SWG stands for STAR WARS not EQ in Space. Punching dogs has nothing to do with being a Jedi and has nothing to do with Star Wars whatsoever.

I was also hoping thatJediwould be quest based instead of just another meaningless grind. One of my guildies finished all of his FS boxes recently and then was given some quest by the old man. It took like 10 of us to finally do it. We had to attack some crytal things and like 3 Sith guys. We were all attacking at once in a big group, we had Commando's, Bounty Hunters, Doctors, Rifleman, TKs, etc. There was blood and carnage everywhere but we finally did it. At the end of it all I thought to myself, "Why couldn't the whole thing be this way?"

This is a bit off subject but hey it's my thread. In order to solve the whole 'Jedi' dilema here's what needs to be done: Jedi needs to be much easier/more funto get to but much much harder to play. Almost everyone wants to play as a Jedi but nobobdy wants to see a server filled with them and nobody wants to feel like they have to play as a Jedi in order to have a chance in PvP or high end PvE.

Instead of some stupid grind there needs to be a long series of quests that require very large groups to complete. LIke the one I describe above (man was that fun). This way players need to group together and actually play the game to become Jedi instead of hiding out in the middle of nowhere by themselves punching dogs and rats for hours on end.

Visibility needs to go away. All Jedi need to be permanently attackable so that they can only exist in seclusion or in a very large group of 'protectors'. Death penalties should be extremely severe so that advancement means you've played wisely instead of meaning that you punched 2 million rats to death. The whole FS thing needs to be scrapped. No more TK/Riflemen/MD/MCM/Pistoleer/Padawan's. Jedi should only be Jedi period. This way having a Jedi would be like having the Ferrari from Ferris Beuller's Day Off. You would be very very careful with it (and occasionally rub it with a diaper).

This scenario would solve much of the dilema surrounding Jedi since Jedi would be more accessible to all players yet they would be more rare than they are now. Ask yourself this question. What do you see more of on your server, Jedi or Master BEs? Jedi or Master Squad Leaders? Jedi or Master Rangers? Again, more accessible but much much harder to play...

The problem with that is the power gamers will win in the end, they will figure out a way to solo through it in one day. And then they'll come here and post on "HOW 2 SOLO TEH JEDI MIUSSONS!!" then its another thing to AFK macro, and jedi becomesas easy to get as Master Scout. Grinds suck but its the only thing thats power gamer proof.

Look at it the master mission in JTL, the corvettes a frigging joke, its like killing an AFK dancer with a krated geno, everyones keen tothis basic startegy to destroy it. It blows up in under 3 minutes. And then everyone goes "Oh! Woot! CG! GJ guys that was awesome."

Matering Pilot just consists of findingsomesoft hearted acewith an MPS to master it for you, while hanging back out of range. It would be the same way if Jedi were quest based, they would figureout how to becomeJK's in hours, and then post onhow to become Jedi in one day,

then its:HelloJedi Academy but With RPG Ground Combat Instead of Twitch

First, power gamers are going to take advantage of ANY system. They will always find a way. There is no conceivable system that will keep someone who plays 20hrs/day from getting there faster.

Second, I'm not sure if you've ever done the mission that I described above but there is NO way to solo it. We had masters of almost every combat class and several doctors and people were dying left and right. It was awesome!

Third, I think you're missing the other part of my point. Jedi needs to be more accessible yes, but much much harder to play. Power gamers can play 20hrs/day but bring back perma-visibility and perma-death and I can garuantee you will see less of them...

I'll admit that the Corvette is a joke. Really, it's like 10x harder to actually FIND the Corvette than to blow it up. Pretty lame.
