Well there IS a legitimate use for /launchmissile

Often in DS when I 1st see an enemy, he is usally fighting a vette or something.

Being the sort that doens' like to hit someone unaware I will usually /launcmissile them 3-4 times from about 2k away o get thier attention so they aren't defenseless

Launchmissile is cheap, no argument there.

EPulse is a valid ability, which is no more or less overpowered, relatively speaking, than any other weapon at our disposal. There is a counter, they're called missiles. Get over your uberguns and load the goddamned things. Better yet, load the BIG ones, not just the sureshot Image Rec IIs with their "pack it into a tiny corner" 5000 mass. Be sure you disable with a Reactor kill, instead of an Engine kill, and you won't get popped in the back when you come around.

/macro
"/tt WARNING - I am coming up on your 6 to blow you out of the sky!"

lauchm not required.

That works too, I just hapen to already have a macro for /launchmissile though cause certain of my guildmates have a practical joking kind of humor wgere this command is concerned and I like to retaliate to them so its a matter of conveniance for me =)

ok if thats the case i guess ill dig up my old 4850/4850 level 8 shield and pop it into my RGI. Since the devs have known about the shield exploit andthe RGI hitboxfor a long time and havent done anything, then by your argumentsit must be intended!!!

Actually, /launchmissile has some value as a training aid. When mock dueling someone for practice, it's gives pilot a chance to learn how to deal with missiles without getting blown up. It's also fun to use on stupid newbs who like to shoot at you nonstop while you're loading or harass you when you're talking to the station.

As for EPulse3, I've yet to use in PvE or PvP. Granted I don't PvP much, so I don't fully know how it affects things, but if I'm in a no-win situation and about to be vaped.... I'll use it to save my hide. Telling me I'm a cheater for using a skill is like calling me a cheater for using heals in a duel or using debuffs in a fight. I've been called a lot worse for using my CM skills in a duel. Show me where it states in ANY manual that says in PvP we aren't allowed to utilize every skill we have at our disposal. If you're in afight and someone grabs a bottle, are you going to stop and call them a cheater? No, you're going to grab a weapon and fight back. PvP in space or on the ground is anything goes, it's only "cheating" if you don't have that skill or get beat by it.

Look at the jedi threads about CM being too powerful. The claim that CMs beat them all the time. CM isn't beating them, last time I put DOTs on someone they didn't kill the person. What's beating them is the rest of the skills the template has. No one has the right to call another player a cheater for using what skills they have, on the ground or in space. if you get the drop in me and don't kill me, you'd better expect EPulse to come. I'm not going to sit there and say "Wow, dead in the water and if I use my last resort I'm a cheater", I'm going to trigger it and figure out how to get home for repairs.

If EPulse is so bad, what about BStrike3? Wouldn't that be "cheating" as well?

For those that think /launchmissile in PvP is intended, please stop using it so the devs do not remove a fun (and sometimes creatively useful in PvE) command. It would otherwise be a harmless thing that people thinking like this are going to get deleted from the game.

Haven't we had enough fun removed already?

For those encountering these people, just let everyone in DS know who did it. Have everyone launch off a neverending volley at them and I bet they'll get the message rather quickly. (And for irony promptly start complaining about people abusing the command.)

"If EPulse is so bad, what about BStrike3? Wouldn't that be "cheating" as well?"

Let me make this clear: Bomberstrikes don't work on players.

I don't think bstrike works in pvp...

I could be wrong, anyone try it?

As I stated earlier, I don't PvP much. I'm also working on my first Imperial Squadron (2322 right now) so I haven't had a chance to try BStrike on anything. No need to get all snippy on me about it.

I wasn't being snippy. But if you desire a much longer-winded statement to feel better about the response, I can try to accomodate you in the future.

Simply stating "Bomberstikes do not work on players" would have been sufficent. Adding "Let me make this clear" makes it very condescending and snippy. That's no different than calling me an idiot and quite frankly extremely rude. There was no need for that comment at all whenyou could have simply said it doesn't work against players.

Maudee, I think you mis understood my post, I said missle use was ok (which I thought you were miffed about missile use), I didnt even know about the existence of the /launchmissile command, which fires a dummy missile. I agree with others here that it could be a nice training aid, but I would never use that in combat.

As for my statement about no developer has ever said EP3 is not working as intended, well as otehrs pointed out they have said nothing of the RGI hitbox being bugged either, so I will re-cant that statement. I was wrong there, obviously they aren't going to point out every single bug (unless maybe it is working against the jedi:smileyvery-happy

As formy use of EP3, I do not appreciate being called a cheap ass because I will use it in certain situations. I love PvP in space and I would never ever hit that EP3 button unless I were in the situation I described before, engine disabled with my adversary coming around for the kill. I do not see this as cheap, I see it as a viable tactic, I may still be disabled and die, but at least I will take my opponent with me.

I wholeheartedly agree with those who have said EP3 should damage friendlies as well as foes, this would certainly limit its usefulness to all but the most dire situations...my friends sure wouldn't like me blowing them away!
