Soloing my first vette... I hadnt even planned on it, I was putting around and saw it up... checked for my buddies (who wanted in on the vette)... no one on... /sigh/ Well it IS only a game...

Went in... and a short while later (surprisingly I made it through w/ no shield damage) and bam - she was dead. My buds were mad (Hey man, you were supposed to wait for us!)

The real kicker is when my buds finally got up for it - we had a "Nooooooooooo" moment as the vette jumped at Engine 25%

We all generally say, while we're up flying and fighting in that thing, that "this has to be the most fun thing in the game".
Doesn't matter if that's really true for us or not, but the fact that it's said time and again by different people up there... tells you it's a lot of FUN!

One thing I love doing with people who've never been on a POB or put'em down without having ever been on one put together properly, is go take'em up against the ISD.

Yes, its not the most challenging thing out there, but its a great way to demonstrate just what kind ofa beating these ships can handle, even with current Elite systems.

My first (and only) PvP kill definitely ranks among my favorite JTL moments. I had just picked up my x-wing, and I was blasting bad guys in the Tatooine asteroid field. All of a sudden I heard the distinct sound of TIE fighter guns being fired. I went evasive and saw the green bolts go flying past my ship. An interceptor was coming in high with guns blazing. Luckily, I was able to duck beneath an asteroid and avoid getting blown away in the surprise attack. The interceptor followedme around the rock, but hit it and was bounced into clear space as I came around. I made short work of it after that fatal mistake.

We dueled a few more times afterwards, and I was thoroughly schooled in the ways of space PvP.

The first time I tried the vette for my master. I had read all guides here and there and was thinking "well, I may do it".

10 days later, the first time I saw the vette explodes (though I didn't do it alone... but it will come one day, I swear it ! :smileywink

(and I would say : the first time I came on this forum and saw that there was a place, far far away between the stars where there was not the "Jedis are not ubber enough" or "Jedis must be nerfed" every 2 posts... it was like fresh air and give me the thought that, maybe, I was going to PvP a bit in this game :smileywink

Seeing the ISD for the first time has to be up there. Going back to DS as a imperial ace while i was doing my 9 squadrons and really getting to take in the size of the thing, i spent a good 15-20 minutes just fly around it.

My first master mission is up there too. Having that feeling of the vette being so menacing and impossible, the thought of someone being able to solo it blew my mind, in fact i thought it was impossible, till i tried it myself.

Doing the Lord Cyysk mission for the first time, there were about 8 of us doing it, and the sheer mass of the ships that come down on you is immense, and quite a shock to the system. Only 2 of us survived, me and the mission taker, and we finished off the mission. Then about a hour later, we were back doing it again, just the 2 of us, with a 3rd guy keeping his distance, and it was so much fun, a actual challenge.

My top moment has to be my first PvP fight and kill, it was a guy in a oppressor, and it was just the most exhilirating thing i've done in game, the challenge of taking another player with skill, and actually judgement on my part was a real thrill, i just wish there was more of it on FarStar.

Seeing the ISD was my top moment as well, although PvP on Eclipse isnt very fun.. heh no one on eclipse PvPs in deep space actually

I have several JTL "SW" moments I remember, can't say any are more favorite than others, though they're all very memorable.

During my T3 grind, before I discovered things like overloads.. I found I could earn FP while I was grinding. Didn't have anything mapped to 'target nearest enemy player' I don't think, but after clearing a wave of ties, noticed the next in my targetting cycle was an Imp player. He wasn't boosting toward me, but he was getting too close for comfort. I angle toward him just in case, when he came at me full throttle, blasters ablaze. I sideslipped and and boosted past, managing to loop 'round on his six and opened up full. I had 2 crafted ions and a crafted disruptor combo. They cut his shields quickly and I was rewarded by a bright fireball. What I didn't notice 'till it was too late, was his wingman coming down atop of me. I survived the first pass, but was too damaged to maneuver much and he dusted me quickly. Still I was thrilled at my first kill. At the station the vaped Imp pilot hurled several tells. "M******F*****!!!! I was almost finished with my mission!!!" To which I replied, "Well then you probably shouldn't have fired on me, should you've?" I couldn't really type much more, I was laughing too hard.

Second one I remember distinctly was during a minor RP guild event. We were helping some of our guildies grind, and working on wingman tactics. I'd been assigned our newest addition on my wing, our CO telling me to "keep an eye on her." Later during the mission, he was disabled, and I got seperated from my wing. When I realized she was in trouble, I started after her to assist when I saw a damaged interceptor vectoring in to finish off the commander. I changed course to assist him, ignoring his screams to "save her," boosted in behind the squint, vaped it 50m off his nose. Then looped 'round him and vaped the second one on my wingman's six half a second later, earning me the nickname "Deuce". It was truely a SW moment for me, and my CO went absolutely nuts over it. My wingman was obvlivious to my fantastic flying. lol I love my A-wing.

The last one that comes to mind was a 4 x 4 battle in DS a couple weeks ago. It started out as a patrol with a wingman to collect some salvage (loot) and FP. We got jumped a couple times, we vaped them, got vaped a couple times, but generally we were on the winning side. Pretty soon they were adding to their numbers when they came back, 'till we got to a semi-organized 4 on 4. It probably lasted 3-4 mins, but seemed like much longer. It was a total blast and I want more of them.

Other than that, I love that 'lightbulb' that goes off over someone's cockpit when I'm teaching. I could probably come up with more, but it's almost time to get outta here and go launch.

See ya up there.

Mine would definitley first flight.

I get into my spiffy new tie light duty, feeling very full of myself, and pop up into space. halfway through doing the patrol, i realized something was wrong, there couldnt be a mission without a fight, and here it came, four Y-wings. i hadn't even tried shooting or maneuvering yet, so after killing one, i got blasted, but ive loved it ever since.

My first Vette run is way up there. It took me a while to master Smugglers' Alliance, my first squadron, so this was shortly after Kessel was non-PVP, but even so I was able to join up with a pickup group of 20 that was assembling at Nym's for some reason or another. We headed up, sent out some scouts, and spotted the Vette within a few minutes, then regrouped and headed in with a full squad of Rikhs, Dunelizards, X-Wings, and Y-Wings. There was at least one guild with a few members who'd assigned themselves callsigns, and the excitement of the comm chatter was duking it out with my nervousness over going up against the beast on my screen.

None of us knew anything about Vette tactics, so our first assault was little more than everybody diving in at once and pumping as much firepower at the various fighters and gunboats as we possibly could. I died after about a minute or so, along with over half the squad, and it was a tense few minutes of hypering back to Kessel as fast as possible as the remaining pilots picked apart the Vette and disabled it. They managed to hold off till everyone with the master mission got back within range, though, and then we exploded the damn thing. Most of us hung out for a minute or two with promises to help out the various non-masters who'd come along when their turn rolled around. As a result, we ended up doing another three or four Vette runs within the next couple weeks.

My favorite, though, has got to be the first large-scale PVP battle I fought in. It was the third one on Starsider, I think, and there were about 35-40 pilots on each side (so this may have been the same one Halyn already mentioned, heh). I was lucky in that I'd been using my Advanced for PVE, so I brought it out to PVP in too.. and the way it jumped around the battlefield, just murdering whatever I pointed it at, and meanwhile there are dozens of other fighters whipping around in all three dimensions--from then on out I was a PVP addict. I think I had right around 10 kills/assists in the first battle and was one of the few survivors on the Imperial side.

Then, I got cocky.

Second battle of the night, me and the squad I was in, led by the infamous commander Naithan Carew, were the leading edge of the assault. I picked out a Y-Wing, leaned forward, and flew straight at it--and was quickly blasted into my component atoms. I'd survived a good 5-10 minutes of ferocious dogfighting in the first battle, then hadn't lasted 5 seconds in the second.

That was what taught me never to fly straight at your opponent if you're in an interceptor, though, so I'd consider it a death well spent.

Meeting up with a guildie and finishing the first corvette mission was pretty cool. We met another guy doing the mission on the way and we both ended up back at Theed putting on our jackets and helmets and saluting each other.

But even cooler was two days later going back on another character and soloing the corvette, all the escort plus two extra gunboats that were stuck at the exit. (Though I got my armor trashed and had to repair and fly back.) I finally disabled the engines on the corvette just 700m from the exit waypoint, so it was pretty close.

For me I have to say taking out the ISD solo, or the time wasted in getting an Eta-2 then going back to Rebel and useing it.
