Thread: MAYDAY!! We've got a Pilot emergency on the GCW forum.

Oh, I also think that the whole "auto-gunner" thing for POB ships isn't a good idea. Now if I were flying, let's say, a Corvette, then the gunners would be okay.

Personally I think it's a great idea. I can never find people to crew my decimator, or if I do they are horribly incompetant. And they only want in there in the first place because they are 1/1/0/0 pilots who want to grind XP and want me to land every 30 seconds so they can go train and do a mission...
I swear, NPCs are just so much easier to get along with...

So you would rather destroy the integrity of JTL for your selfish purposes? POB ships were designed to promote GROUP play in space. Not a platform to make AFK farming a possibility.

Actually, just make it so the pets don't recieve loot. Anything notdamaged at least 51%bya player just doesn't drop loot. That should take care of the AFK farming possibility. Ya can't go afk and HOPE your gunner is only gonna disable something and wait for you to come back ![]()
And no offense, but I fail to see how wanting NPC gunners is selfish.
And, while I might be wrong about this, but I think you proved Darkknights point about NPCs being much easier to get along with ![]()

I don't believe I proved his point. I see it as selfish in that POB ships was put in to be a Multi-player ship. Not a ship one can go solo things in. Though you can, but it comes at certain limitations. By allowing NPC gunners you promote afk farming, or afk griefing in the form of load ganking. One shot from a POB gun run by an AI that is designed to hit a certain percentage of the time and that ship goes boom. I'm talking about PvP here. And NPC gunners have no place in PvP because it takes no skill for you to use a NPC to shoot someone down.
The only way I would even consider to allow NPC gunners is if you are not allowed to gather loot with them, they do no damage to player targets, you do not recieve XP from using them, and they hit maybe 1% of the time. It could be used as a quick deterent in that oh, they're shooting, better get out of range... at that point they can figure out if it's NPC gunners or not and take the chance. The pilot would be gambling at that point to use them.
I just don't like the idea of taking GROUP play out of a designed group ship. Goes against the whole point of why they were put in.

The point I think you proved is that NPC's he controls have ta do what he says, whereas you are free to do as you wish. Thus making the NPCs easier to get along with ![]()
I can agree with the no damage to players, the xp, the loot and such, but up percentage to a 15-25 percent range, depending on prestige spent thing.
Yeah, group ships were designed for groups, can't debate that. Sometimes though, ya just want to take the ship up to test some things and there aren't any around to do it with.
Ah well, probably won't happen anywho and I would rather see probs fixed and certain professions given attention first. Especially those poor SLs, Smugglers (only a pilot here) and Rangers.

Ah, ok.. I see what you're getting at on the point. I was looking at it differently then you... You're right, he's right... NPC's can definately be easier to get along with... fun to kick, punch, etc. ![]()
The percent thing can definately be debated.. I say 1% because I want it to be an extreme limitation to want to use them.
And I agree.. i would rather see some other probs fixed first.
