I think it's an awesome idea myself. Something to use faction points for other than more stupid PvE bases. The Krayts quit spawning on Bria because there's so many PvE bases everywhere. Faction pets are basically worthless right now anyway except for maybe the AT-ST's.

Here's another idea I'd like to see... maintenance droids that could actually repair your ship parts while in-flight. You'd have to store some repair kits in their storage unit, and make sure the battery stays charged.

I don't think we have anything to worry about. Despite the devs' tendency to introduce unbalancing things into JTL, even they wouldn't do this. Even if the acurracy is that of a tier 1, in PvP a POB with 1 person in it would be more powerful than 5 or 6 player fighters (vets in JSFs). So, just like all the new people don't have any need to fret over thier precious JSF, we have nothing to worry about with this insane idea.

It is not a great idea. I don't know how else to say that. It would promote AFK play in Space. Which is something that is pretty much impossible to do, unless you're a gunner on someone's POB ship just sitting getting xp. This would bring in hordes of a$$hats that will camp the spawns looking for that BS helmet, or just loot farming in general to get money. We loot farm, but we aren't AFK. Load ganking will become a huge issue as griefers will sit in DS and not even have to worry about other players because soon as they load in, BOOM, dead.

So no. I will do everything in my power to prevent this from ever happening.

Yeah, I see your point there. Ok, ditch the gunners... but how about the repair droid?

I kinda like the repair droid idea. It wouldn't cause any imbalances that I see, and it is hard enough to get a 4 person crew together much less another person to repair.

I dont want NPC gunners. The problem would be math... They would have to work on a % of accuracy basis - meaning, that % of the time no matter WHAT the other pilot did... he/she would be hit. Um, not cool.

"Neat.. he didnt hit me on my lame straight in approach... let me try my super cool corkscrew yo-yo booster approach... WTH, how did he hit me!!!?!!!"

But...

I would like repair droids... But there would have to be a limit... for me, half the fun of a POB is the crew keeping her going...

"Kid, get out of the turret... I need you to fix that conduit or we are going down."

Yeah... I just realized that the problem with NPC gunners is that there's no autotarget. No way to make that work in JTL.

But the pilots... I still like that!

I would much prefer something where droids are involved--say as a pilot for a POB ship that would allow for simple things (follow a target, fly a straight line, fly an evasive line). NPC gunners, even with horrible accuracy, are probably a less-than-ideal way for POBs to be run.

You know - the precedent has been set for POBs to fly w/o pilot in the chair...

Han and Chewie were doing repairs - yet the ship continued to run from the ISD... Now, some would say - Leia was flying, but clearly she is a squad leader and not a pilot.

=P

I never got why the throttle would spring back to 0 when I let go... I could have sworn I removed that "spring" from the controls... =P

Of course, pilot doesn't take SP, so Leia could've been both. And the controls on your ship are clearly running with a deadman switch in the seat, so when you get up, it automatically kills the feeds.
