Thread: To shut people up about the Jedi Starfighter
I believe you're talking about rubberbanding, where your ship essentiallywarps backwards andto a full stop and then accelerates up to whatever your original speed was. This is caused by server sync issues, basically, the client shows you at one point where on the server you are at a different point. When you rubberband, things around you suddenly move extremely quickly for an instant, so this may be what's been happening. Rubberbanding and server-side lag as a whole has increased exponentially with the release of RotW.
But I still feel the new ships, except for perhaps the Arc, arehighly unbalanced.
I have started a discussion on ship balance, so we'll see what comes of that. Maybe I can even hook Darth_Platypus into going over some of this stuff with me, he seems pretty on the ball.

Rebels allways complain abou it being better than the A-wing well it has a right to be the JSF had years of rechearch and development to be good for the Jedi making it what it is. Where'd you dig up this little piece of info? It just looks like they tookthe originaljedi fighter, made a few modifications, and put this one out.
The A-wing however is just a modivied stunt fighter No, it's not, it's a dedicated interceptor designed just prior to the Battle of Endor. According to Star Wars Cannon, it IS the fastest and highest performance starfighter in use. It's also roughly25 years newer than the Jedi Fighter,so the factsdiffer with your"opinions."
not built for what it is used for it says so in Rogue Squadron 2.
I got this info from the Essential Guide to Vehicles and Vessels, as well as other various books and websites.
SO SHUT UP U REBEL SCUM! Oh give me a break, that's just childish right there.
As far as nerfing goes, I think "balance" is the word we're looking for. Seriously, have you actually FOUGHT one of these in something other than your own jedi fighter? It can go in circles around an X-Wing, and not even the best fighter pilot could survive very long against a few of them. You obviously don't understand the term "BALANCE" at all.
Technically the A-Wing doesn't exist yet, and all of the Jedi Starfighters that people are using in this game is the same ship he used in Episode 3.
This is SWG get all of your facts right, nothing is right in this fecked up galaxy.
A-Wings are a extremely good challange to fight agianst even with a Jedi Starfighter, if someone is going to balance somthing balance the A-Wing and JSF to be exactly the same only in different skins, that would shut everyone up.
Who exactly PVP's in space anyways?

It's not my hardware, its the servers and the internet. I exceed every requirement to play this game, and then some. The fact that it happens at certain times of day, in certain load intensive areas, and that it NEVER happened before RotW means that these new ships are out of balance.
The fighters already moved just as fast as anything in the movies. I'm not sure what movies you're talking about, but in the Star Wars movies I've watched, I never saw any ships blink out of existence and reappear 50meters away. I never saw a ship in the movies turn 180 degrees and head full speed in the opposite direction in the space of its own length. Move like they do in the movies my behind.
Think before you post from now on, and contribute to your thread in a meaningful way, or this will get locked down because all you're doing now is being an annoying troll.
Server side lag issues my friend, rubberbanding happened so much during the JTL beta even with the slowest ships. This is only caused because of all of the new content and bugs brought in by the CU and ROTW. Individual ship speeds have nothing to do with rubberbanding.

You are right about one thing: the A-Wing really hasn't been invented yet. But in all honesty, there are more adult jedi on my server than in the order right before the purge happened. So the game has kinda screwed up timeline. However, it hasn't changed whole ships' established production backgrounds, at least, not as far as I know.
The A-Wing is roughly the size, perhaps slightly smaller, than the grievous ship, and I was able to hit one of those several times with a crappy engine before he could hit me.
The above reallyisa bit of a bad example,so let's put it this way: Size matters A LOT. And even with such a small target as the A-Wing, it's still larger than the Jedi Fighter. And it lacks a second gun slot, and has 30k less mass. The Jedi Fighter is twice as maneuverable. So you tell me, is this balanced?
And as far as PvP in space, we, the players of starsider, do. Just ask Tomo.

All I can say is ummm wow... You know your stuff, I mean first off the A-Wing wasn't the stunt fighter it was one of the first Rebel Ships that was made by the Rebels. The X-Wing was however a Stunt Fighter, if you watch New Hope when there talking about going after the Death Star they make the coment about how a small Stunt Fighter couldn't blow up something that big. Also posting a message that starts out with "To shut people up" doesn't win you any friends.
Though the wedge-shaped starfighter design was still in use by war's end, a newer model had earned the spotlight for its use by renowned Jedi heroes, Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi.
This new model was much more compact, cutting away a large portion of the forward spaceframe to have a forked front, bracketing a bulbous cockpit pod. Lining the inner edges of the ship's "tines" were powerful long-barreled laser cannons. The ship also had secondary cannons recessed on the outer edge of each tine. A full-size astromech rested within a spring-loaded socket on the port wing, and the craft's wingtips could fold open, revealing hexagonal panels when the ship entered combat mode. The hexagonal wings and the spoke-windowed cockpit were strong indicators of future starfighter designs to be adopted by the galactic government.
This new model also lacked a hyperdrive, so it too had to rely upon a hyperspace transport ring to achieve superluminal velocities. During the war, bigger more robust rings were used, with multiple lightspeed engines increasing their speed and range.

A Wing
The Alliance brain trust of General Jan Dodonna and engineer Walex Blissex developed the A-wing starfighter after examining the role of speed in the Battle of Yavin and the sleek fighters developed by the Tamuuz-an. The top-secret result of their experimentation was the A-wing, the fastest vessel of the Galactic Civil War.
Twin Novaldex J-77 Event Horizon engines push the tiny craft through realspace, giving it phenomonal sublight speed and performance. Though its Microaxial LpL computer worked hard to make the powerful vessel controllable, only the best pilots can take full advantage of the A-wing's velocity and weapons systems.
Bracketing the craft is a pair of linked laser cannons that can elevate and depress 60 degrees. Some models even carry weapons that can rotate completely around to fire at pursuing targets. An A-wing typically carries concussion missile launchers in recessed slots along its forward edge.
The A-wing also carries a powerful sensor jammer that wreaks havoc on the detection systems of small fighters. Against larger vessels the jammer is useless. In fact, it is a greater risk, as the jammer's powerful frequencies show up on a capital ship's sensor grid as a large and tempting beacon.

I pvp in space when ever I can. I'm constantly looking for overt players by doing patrols of Kessel, DS, endor, and where ever else i feel like going. Quite a few are just grinding fp. But whatever, they're overt their dead. Some see me some don't. I do run into players that are looking for pvp fights to. And the fights are usually good because these are the better pilots who know what they're getting into.
Awings are good ships. JSF are good ships, but currently the JSF makes a bad pilot into a good pilot. Not really balanced is it? If you're a bad pilot in an awing people are going to see it. It's harder to see it in the JSF because it is so small.

I will not shut up. And i'm an Imperial Ace.
The JSF need to be balanced, and so with all the ships with 600/600/300 Y/P/R and more than 45k mass... its quite simple.
TomoRainer wrote:
Other issues aside, are these ships really moving any faster than the old ones? Their speed mods are .95, so their forward velocity's not going to be any better, and their PYR accel, while at 600/600/300, doesn't affect the actual turn rate, just how fast you can change directions.
In other words, these ships aren't moving any faster at all. They've got the mass for bigger engines, and that can make them faster, but as for the chassis, that shouldn't be affecting game limitations. If ships are blinking, I definitely want to know about it, but I'd think it's early to be ruling out the effects of asteroids and increased server strain or to be certain it's not affecting other, older ships as well.
He's right - the only "plus" to the JSF vs. the A-Wing/Adv is that it has 100% maneuverability at 100% throttle.
I used my "pick a point and yaw" test. A crafted Advanced and JSF went 360 degrees in roughly the same five seconds. The JSF just does it ~100kph faster.
