Oh, and your power troubles are likely due to a crafted engine. They tend to be around 2300-2400 or more energy drain, which becomes 23,000-24,000 with EO4 (10x multiplier). Looted engines can drop into the 1300s for energy drainif the Gods of Loot are smiling on you.

If you have a crafted machine, particularly in something light like the A-Wing, stick with EO3, that's only a 5x energy drain. With its high speed sweet spot, you should still do well in PvP with EO3, you'll just have to be a little more cautious in combat.

wow... that is really creepy. The RE Borstel that I have on my Interceptor is almost exactly the same as this. My drain is about 40 higher and my mass is about 300 lower.

Actually, not at all. As already mentioned, dmg and e/s are from reward gun. The vs ratings on L8 on a decent re'd gun are always around 680/690 and a 380 refire is common too. I'd bet there aredozens of L8's that vary no more then yours and his does.2 of them in my possesion.

I've never been able to use EO4. It kills my reactor every time and disables everything but my engine, even if I start my routine with RO4. I can't normalize anything because my DI is disabled so I end up having to land. heh

BTW, I love these A-Wing posts. Ever since I went Reb, I consider the A-Wing to be my primary ship. I've even been cannibalizing parts off my JSF as it gathers dust. heh

Keep an X-Wing handy for pure PvE. The A-Wing is nice, but its not your best PvE ship. Flying faster than NPCs is usually more frustrating than its worth, and only Tier 5s tend to move at speeds that the A-Wing can match without losing a LOT of maneuverability.

The A-Wing is a premier Rebel PvP ship, while I'm sure Leaph will slap my knuckles with a ruler for downing it as a PvE'er, its really not the most efficient ship for the job.

ah its cool. I'd have to be both blind and stupid to say the A-wing was easy to pve with. I mean, I find it adequate as long as you go about the larger targets sensibly and due to my increased speed and some pretty respectable accuracy can often outkill friends with x-wings, however stats wise, there are a lot better pve choices than an A-wing. I just fly mine for everything because I'm wierd.

That reminds me, don't RE anything until publish 24. The bonus on energy reduction might help with the reactor drain.

Ooo! I'm glad you posted that. I have a couple of RE projects that are getting close and hadn't heard that yet. How long have we been waiting for Pub 24? I'm starting to think it's an urban legend.

I always do everything the difficult way. Heck, on the ground I'm a Fencer for Pete's sake. hah Besides, I figure this is my penance for flying a JSF for a week. I used the A-Wing for three Tier 4 boxes and the first Master mission, making faster, wider turns to stay on the six and killing more slowly. However, that JSF is starting to look better for the upcoming Vette mission.

I think that's it. I just read the RE guide linked in the Pilot FAQ last week, so this whole time I've been using crafted or non-REed loot. Now I'm just flying for loot and updating my nerdy spreadsheet with MIN and MAX formulas to track everything.

You should see this A-Wing build Iput together last night for my guild leader. Its built around an L9Borstel RG9 Laser Cannon RE. The damned thing's more than 50% of the mass. Still snuck the L6 Reward Engine on it and a 1452 front/back L6 shield. Respectable PvE ship, if I do say so. No chaff launcher, so I wouldn't declare on it if I didn't have to .

I currently have a lvl 10 engine A-wing in the works. Lvl 10 engine, lvl 7 Ionic pulse weapon re and a mk III crafted shield. I'll be able to fit everything else on too apart from ordnance, however the light protection shields are a bit of a grey area. I mean, back in the pre-rotw days I often pvp'ed with a mk III shield on an A-wing but I feel that 'll be using front adjust heavy a lot of the time in pvp. I tried the basic rig with the lvl 10 engine I have (99 speed, 82 r,p,y and 37k mass) and the thing flys like a bat out of hell. I thought my lvl 8 engine was good but wow, what I wouldn't give for an 80k~ mass A-wing now so I could have my current 'BlackJack' setup along with that lvl 10 engine.

My theory is that people have a **edit** of a time htting me with a lvl 8 engine and EO4. With a lvl 10 engine and EO4 those chances of hitting me are greatly reduced thus I think I can justify the shield along with the lighter weight gun due to its faster refire rate and the fact I have that superior segment of turn in a turning battle.

Should be fun to compare these ships.

The Shield is going to be key i think. Have you looked into REing an L6 shield? They can be quite impressive when done right, i've seen them with 9k mass, 1300 f/b and 10 recharge. Whats the stats on the MkIII you're gonna be using?

Edited out the engine, part, didn't read the whole post.

Yeh I'm working on a lvl 6 currently but the mk III I have has just under 14k hitpoints, pointlessly lame recharge rate and about 7k mass. I asked for all hitpoints and low mass. The recharge never bothers me too much since when I do get hit, I'll shunt it off.

I'm a bit wary of going out and using it though. I mean, if it backfires it'll dent my shiny A-wing reputation and people might become less fearful of my wrath

Lol

Nah, I'm all up for experimentation. I'm currently trying to think of a spiffy name for this Lvl 10 engine series A-wing though. I must admit I feel a little bit of a hippocrit since two months ago I self righteously announced that a lvl 10 engine A-wing setup would just be too much hassle and inefficient. Ahh well, minds change I guess

Just thought of a name. I have BlackJack as my lvl 8 series A-wing so I think I'll go with JackBlack as my lvl 10..oh wait. How about 'Test subject A'

Surely it should be Test Subject 10?

I've gotten L6s down to just under 12k, though I've done better than 1300 on the two I'm working with. I'll keep an eye out for something that small in the future....
