Awesome.

So I convinced my friend to let me try out his A-Wing.

Oh my! He has an RE'd Level 6 Engine. With Engine Overload 4, With Boost and in a tight spin almost made me AIRSICK

That is just plain awesome.

He has a similar set up to yours although his weapon still needs to be RE'd.

I'll try to do the Interceptor Project......

RE'd 6, MAYBE a 7. Skimp on the booster, Lower shields, Re'd lowmass lvl 6 Engine. Be fun to try

Heh that is a pretty nice A-Wing. Indeed, nice enough that I wet out and made one nearly identical myself with my shiny new alliance ace!

The only difference in loadout is a lvl 7 re'd ionic pulse blaster instead of the tri cannon, with a bigger lvl 8 shield (29k mass, 2555 hp, 14 somethingregen)in place of the lvl 7 crafted. I have a protecto net with 17.7 regen waiting in the wings for re'ing too, so once thats done I'll swap out the shields and put in a nice tricannon as well. It's pretty much the optimal A-wing loadout.

im guessing u dont have a lvl 8 engine in there, and at least on most servers, id say anything less than a lvl 8 is not the optimum setup anymore

A lvl 6 engine with 70-72 y/p/r is adequate enough. 82 top speed is a limiting factor though. The smaller engine leaves room for the bigger shields or bigger guns, its always going to be a trade off (least it should be). I went for the bigger shields on my current setup which are extremely useful in pve - as I use the ship for both currently this had to be taken into consideration.

I am also working on a B-Wing for Pve, once that is finished (waiting on 1 more lvl 10 engine with 79 + pitch, and some more lvl 10 guns) then I will chuck the QID in the A-Wing and switch the lvl 7 gun back in. All I really fly in PVP is my TIE advanced at the moment anyways, just can't go past that ship

Green: Good to go.

D. Green: you can improved "Alittle"

Yellow: May want to reconsider heres why.

Red: you can do WAY BETTER!

You can do about 100 points better on the front and back hitpoints of the shield. The weapon is "ok" but get you a inonic pulse weapon (heavy X-wing mission), they RE into about 3100 damage, for about 2 -4k less mass. The ordanance is "ok" also, you could (in my opionion, SHOULD), go for Mark II Image-Rec missiles. they have the fastest launch time, and with a well made Image recmissile launcher you can shave a few houndred Mas off also.

You can do wAY better on the capacitor. I have a level 1 capacitor with a recharge rate of 41. You only need enough cap power/recharge that will allow your gun to shoot and continue to rebuild energy at the same time. Idealy you would want it to be back to max energy before the CSS macro bumps, but thats not always possible. MAss is your enemy! not the IMperials lol!

Good luck!

P.S. I've been flying exclusively an A-wing for the entier time JtL has been out ( and I think space is better then the ground!)

Cap stats are very important my friend. Not to have a constant flow of energy to your guns, but to be able to use cap to shield shunt as soon as your droid is ready again, and have at that time a fully recharged cap, so most of the energy goes to your shields

Point, but most of the time, if I get hit, and shunt, if I get hit again, I'm gone lol.

If I get hit, I'll usually break out of the turn and go VERY evasive, if not purely evasive for a good half a minute so as to shake my opponent up and try to remove their lead advantage from them. As of late, I havn't pvp'ed all that much against an equal opponent and many of my kills have been made on the initialpass. I find that flying an almost wrecklessly aggressive flight pattern in pvp can really disturb some opponents to the point where they'll try to escape. I think thats howHarotak worked a lot of the time when I dueled him because often, I'd really try and make space between our two ships but the guy was always on me forcing the fight to be fought how he wanted until one of us made the final mistake and got destroyed.

/sigh. Good times...

As per the Note I wrote after the name, Have a QID on the way for it, stats listed at the top of this page. Just got ahold of a pre-nerf lvl 6 reward engine, so that might take presence here. 98 Speed out of 8k mass will be very happy Especially if I can get the YPR to 73+

I could get a better crafted, but with a Protecto RE on the way @ 2300 F/r for a few k less mass, I'll wait.

Ship was built around the Idea of using an RE'd lvl 8 reward weapon. This stays, but may get improved.

Ordinance - Mark 3 Proton Crafted

Energy Drain: 981.8

Mass: 5479.2

"Final" Build won't have launchers of any kind, if I have time to get a lock in pvp, I have plenty of time to strip thier shields/armor away with my lvl 8 gun

I'm still jealous of the A-Wings, being an imperial, I had to do the next best thing.

Load out my TIE Interceptor.

So, just started my TIE Interceptor Project, and so far I have:

Level 1 Reactor - 1188 Energy (Crafted)

Level 6 RE'd Engine - 69 Y/P/R 70 Speed (Starter RE Engine. Slapped all the level 6's I had, will get better)

Level 6 Blaster - Don't remember the stats - okay damage I don't have computer running but will post later.

Level 2 Capacitor - 800 Energy/20 Recharge (Looted)

Level 2 RE'd Booster - 30 Accel/23.3 Top Speed (10 Second Burn)

Level 6 RE'd Droid Interface - 15.7 Sec

Level 2 Shields (Paper thin...)

Level 1 RE'd Armor (sneeze and they're gone)

Chaff Launcher

So that's about 50K mass I was a bit under wtih 300 Mass to spare... I'll play around a bit to get more optimal loadout, again, I just wanted this up and flying.

I tested it out. And it was a blast! First did Evil Raider Spawn in Endor. Easy as Pie. Then did the Chiss Poacher spawn in Kassyx. And it was great. After that I went to Kessel, but everyone cleaned out all the spawns. So, I went up to Deep Space. The TIE Interceptor Rocks! Able to take down A-Wings no problem. The slug formerly known as the TIE Oppressor might just collect dust! B-Wings, X-Wings and Long Probes were easy target. I can go into a swarm of fighters and not get hit. It was just a lot of fun. I tried to do gunboats although got blasted when all 3 gunboats decided to turn on me. Gotta fly with a little bit more finesse, as I'm used to "Tanking" damage withmyTIE Oppressor before. To me the TIE Interceptor is just a true nimble fighter. It's the definition of a Fighter. Alas, I had to go land to get some shuteye.

Anyways, I've got the speed and nimble bug. I'm going to search high and low for more TIE Interceptor parts. Too bad I didn't know about the TIE Interceptor leveling up. I would've used and kept this from Tier 3 and on up!

Overall, the TIE Interceptor is the Imperials answer to the A-Wing.

I'd be very wary of trying to make do with a single L6 gun for PvP. Unless you're a wunderkind pilotAND all that gun-mass savings went straight into your engine, you're going to meet an insurmountable wall in the form of Senor Adjust Front Extreme.
