Thread: Free JTL coming up

The NGE stuff crashes if you try to run SWG without JTL, so they basically had to do this. I don't see anything wrong with giving JTL away free at this point anyway--we've already had it a year, and I'd consider that well worth the $30--but considering this necessity comes from making space a more vital part of the game from the start, I'd say that's a good tradeoff. Gives us a bit more leverage, though we've still gotta be vigilant and all that.

I don't mind fresh blood. Too much insularity in a community tends to lead to inbreeding.

Of course, fresh blood also tends to bring with it a lot of ignorance, both real and perceived, but I've got faith this forum can handle it with a cool head. Have in the past, even with those Dead Horse threads.

Good on SOE, JTL should of been an intergral part of SWG from launch (if you go back all those years space flight was promised at launch) so its good to see it becoming part of the game, rather than just an add on.

Erm, Tomo just accused us of inbreeding....yikes!

Other than my initial grumyness, which has mostly passed (NGE still irking me), do you really think giving it for free with bring in that many new folks? Remember RotW brought new pilots becuase they either just bought the game or had to fly for a mission. My money would be that most long term vets already have it for the instant travel feature. We shall see though.

Like I said, I just hope it isn't a cheap way to fix space. What? Pilots need something? But we gave everyone free JTL, there should be lots of people in space now.

I am not sure just giving JTLS will bring more pilots in to space. IF it does fine but I am not worried about it either way. It would be nice to see more targets........err people in DS but I think those that are playing now either fly or they don't. You might get a small infllux if the NGE actually works to bring in new players.

Tbh i think people will view it as "We may aswell" now that it's free. People who weren't neccessiraly interested before might just decide to pick up piloting.

Its good that the option is there in my view anyway.

I doubt it. JTL differs from Rotw and ToOW in that it actually puts in an essential game mechanic for all new players. With the way the devs have intergrated space combat into the newbie start missions its actually neccessary now.

Indeedily. More meat for the table.

I'll be going out of my way to convince new pilots on Starsider to go Imperial too. If that fails, I might have to go Imperial. I don't like being on the side with more players so much and as much as I'm a pathetically retarded unoriginal fictional faboy A-winger, whe it comes to play experience, I wouldn't mind switching if it meant I had more fun ultimately.

As for having to pay full whack for the expansion when it came out in ye olde England, well I look at it like this. I (and others) have infinitely more experience and knowledge compared with the new guys who'll be coming in and we can use that to help them and mow them down on the battlefield. It's a win-win situation so I ain't complaining.

So if you went Imp, which ship would you go with? Would we see the big bad Leaph in a JSF to complete your conversion to the madness of the Dark Side, or will you go even more hardcore in a TIE Interceptor?
