Thread: Free JTL coming up

According to my Launchpad screen.

I'm a little put off. Does that make me a whiney elitist?

I paid good cash for this game. Yeah it came bundled with RotW, but at least you had to buy that. I don't like it when companies give out products for free to the masses that I had to pay for, not when it's a current game, and JTL is very much current. Not to mention - and this may be the bigger part - does anyone really think that giving out free JTL is going to boost pilot participation in space?

I may, however, still be bitter from the NGE. But this irks me!

Are you a pilot and not using Droid Commands?

I'm guessing some of the early quests require space content and SOE forgot, so they're giving it to everyone before releaseto cover the mistake.

Some of the stuff on the Ord Mantell space station (newb area) requires some flying. Also, in the tutorial, you need to head into the turret of the Falcon and shoot down some TIEs. That in addition to having Shipwright be intertwined with Droid Engineer in the Engineering sub-class basically means you can't seperate ground from space anymore.

It's sort of like accepting that it's as intergral to the game as the ground is (and not this cheap attempt to keep the two seperate).

hmm...whats the chance of SOE giving the ones that bought JTL already some credit on our accounts?

I know, I'm dreaming

Just jealous. It's okay. When you see how much better the game can be when EVERYBODY can do space and they can add stuff like capital starships without alienating part of their playerbase, I think you'll feel better. I mean, JtL came out a year ago and was already included for free with Wookiees, the Total Experience, and will similarly be bundle with the Starter Kit - so it's not like this is a surprise.

Don't feel entitled to something that came bundled free. I actually did pay for JtL (got a box and everything). If I don't feel entitled, you sure as hell don't have a leg to stand on.

Yeah, it really sucks when companies give something back to the playerbase that supported them. Those **edit**. How dare they do something nice like this! Screw SOE!!

If it makes you feel better, think that they are getting SWG for free and paying 19,95 for JTL.

Edit: just saw the announcement, getting it now.

Hrmmmm... Fresh Meat.

I wonder how fast I can drive the 1337 kiddies back into the ground. They'd be in for a rude awakening if they accept /duel in space and expect to P0WNZR as they do with their I R UBER template on the ground.

All I'm worried about is all the calls for nerfs that you know are coming. Once these new players get into pvp...and you know they will rush into it...they will go crying about how its so unfair and so on.

I'm more worried about how even less attention will be given to a *optional* and *free* part of the game.

Well from where I am standing the less they do with it the better...I'm sorry but I have no faith in them after some of the things they pulled with the ground change.

Unfortunately, SW is intertwined with Architect, and DE gets master artisan and 4404 weaponsmith. I'd be a lot happier if it was different, but I doubt it is going to be changed at this point in time. There's posts on how the skills break down in the NGE Trader section of the forums.

I read on another post that you need engineer to do the reverse engineer.. does it mean i cant be a shipwright and do the reverse thing on one character???

The idea itself is good - it allows more time to be spent on space, without alienating those who don't have the expansion.

But I fear that it'll have a bad effect on the people - as we witnessed with ROTW, when people are given JTL for free they feel entitled to everything. They often feel that current pilots owe them something - "Can i hav a ride in ur nova plz?". We will probably begin to see an increase in absolutly stupid, non-thought-through posts like "Teh ships hav too low mass devs u r sux!" or "Omg deep space is the pvp zone? lame!1!1".

At least it'll make a nice change from that force sensitive rubbish, however

Crixx, Xicrx and Crixxorian Darkmoon - Rebellion, Corsec and Imperial Ace Pilots respectively.
"When once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been, and there you will always long to return."
"If your pvp battles in space only last a few seconds YOU need practice. The game isn't broken, you just suck!" - Thik
"There's no sensation quite like learning to fly. Tounge-tied and twisted, just an earth-bound misfit, I." -Pink Floyd
"One/two shot PvP is good because this is a game of EVASION. NOT ABSORBTION" - Big mean heartbreaker.
"Sod implementing anything half-decent, we have SWG to make! OLOL!"
"We already have expertise in space. It's called a brain." - Leaph.
