I think the additions of more weapons..both legendary and crafted would be great for every profession..including pike.

I would like to see some sort of meditation as welll... instead of hands on knees like tka..how about balancing on your pike for a long time to boost all secondary stats... that would be a real treat to look at while waiting for a shuttle

but definitely better weapons that do different things..and yes fix the block - EpiC

Wishlist:

1. Area Bleed - I don't know how many times I have wished that I could bleed creatures that gang up on me when doing missions

2. Mounted Combat - I've read through this fourm and thought that mounted combat sounds pretty cool.

3. New standing posture - Let's face it. Standing with a 6 foot pole stick out both ways can get pretty annoying to the people around you. I was thinking that, when standing, the polearm that was equiped would stand vertical, instead of horizontal.

4. New weapons - The pikeman profession has pretty limited weapons(5-6 to be exact) . I can say that I am not the only one that wishes for more staffs to use to wack beasts with.

5. More moves - It gets kinda boring gaining a new skill every other skill box in one tree. It seems like I am usingthe same move forever and don't have alot of combos to chose from.

6. Reduced HAM costs - Right now I am using a pretty average Long Vibro Axe. It's speed has been sliced so it is a bit faster than average speed. Although I am still doing 150+ on encrumb per move. I have been watching a friend(who is a Fencer btw) and he's encrumb does below 80. I know it might be my stats but, the only way I see to change that is either buff or get a operation to change my species. I can also understand that since a pike is bigger than a sword it would take more energy to accually inflict some damage on a enemy.

That's all for now.

My wishlist

Mounted Combat - Imagine, master pikeman mounted on a bol or mountain dewback. Initial attack gets x4 damage and KD if hits. Like a medieval heavy cavalry charge. AWESOME!!! (Should only be on a mounted animal, not vehicles tho. (How do you control a speeder or swoop with just you legs??))

Fix Us - Swing, miss/ Swing, dodge/ ActionHit1, counterattack and i'm dead.

Weapons and group mods - agree with other posts. Athrowing spear would be nice

Pikemen usually fought on foot, in fact they only fought on foot. They were great vs cavalry and even infantry but only in a tightly packed formation.

We are not that type of pikeman, why dont they change the name to Lancer??

The weapons seem to be mostly lances, VL and the basic lance. Also, this mounted combat thing ppl talk about would also require a lance. (But pets sux so bad now I wouldnt want it,one shot and there goes your mount, lol)

I do think more weapons and MORE ACCURACY would be great. The second phase of the "Art of Combat" should take care of that issue, I hope.

However, one thing I notice is that Pikemen have horrible melee and ranged defense. Why, if they are supposed to be great at defending (my assumption based on reading the forums) do they have such low MELEE and RANGED DEFENSE mods. Can they be on par with the fencers and the TKM's? That alone would be easy and greatly improve the pike class, along with greater accuracy.

Also, you skill boxes are somewhat empty. Fencers and TKA's seem to have some type of stat mod in all of their boxed, can we get that type of attention too?

As far as weapons go, how about a duel light saber like darth maul had??? lol, Actually, that is why I picked pike as my first profession. I had false (as I now know) dreams of eventually working my way up to be a master pikeman and then a padawan and would use that weapon. How ignorant of me to think I knew what I was doing. I still dont know what I am doing as things change so much. haha

We shouldn't be the most defensive melee - that much is clear from quick perusal of our skill tree.

Pikeman is SUPPOSED to be the most offensive of the melee classes. We have huge bleeds, huge hits, and all that - but we lose on the DPS game. This is a flaw, by the way, that has not been changed even a little since release.

Every MMORPG I've seen treats polearms as slow weapons, thinking you can't use a staff quickly on the offensive - this is totally untrue. In fact, in pure combat terms a staff is the absolute FASTEST weapon you can use in close combat. If you don't believe me, go to a tournament for armed martial arts sometime and watch a person who's good with a bo (staff), then look at someone who's good with a katana. The highly proficient bo user can swing that thing around so fast that it blurs in the air, and can tag targets far faster than any sword can. It's a highly accurate weapon with precise balance - far better than any sword could ever be.

A lot of it has to do with the fact that you have 2 viable striking arms, instead of just one. So with some wrist agility, which anyone proficient will have, you can hit twice with a single motion whereas a sword can only strike once. A sword must be drawn back by the arms to strike again, or at least pulled with some force to the side on a slash - a major shift in the user's balance. Yet a person wielding a bo can literally render a full-force strike by simply shifting their posture and making small movements of their hands.

Don't believe me? Watch the duel at the end of Episode 1. I'll grant you that the fighting there is highly stylized, and shouldn't be taken for reality, but it's based on very real martial arts styles. The Jedi are using combined forms of Kendo and Epee-fencing, with a touch of something else I can't identify. Darth Maul is using an eastern bo style from Japan crossed with a spear technique from China. See how fast and effortlessly Darth Maul moves by comparison, and how fluidly he moves through the stances of the kata? Look at how little actual motion his body takes along the way to achieve his ends, and how fast he transfers between offense and defense.

Really, there are only two ways that Polearm should properly work in SWG, and both involve fast weaponry. One would be designed so that we block just about any melee attack coming in regardless of our opponent's accuracy, when both are at master level. The other would be a highly offensive construct where we can strike quickly and repeatedly despite the active defenses of our adversary, when both are at master level. At no time in either case should we be waiting as long as any other profession to land hits, let alone longer...

I agree in part, good post.

But with all the aggro we are capable of grabbing and the fact our dps and acc is soo far off it leads to beleive we were designed as a tank. So In saying that I'll reiterate the wish to know exactly what a pikeman is to be in SWG.

I've been a pikeman for a couple weeks now and loving it, 4133,but one ofthe biggest disappointments with this class to me (aside from the accuracy, HAM, and defense) is /sweep2. Don't know about anybody else but it is extremely rare for me to land a KD on multiple targets, usualy I only KD one target. Now if I KD only a single target /sweep2 is virtually useless since if I use it again I have a chance of allowing the KD'd target to get back up. Also, hunting in a group that contains professions that also have a KD move is a pain since a KD is usaully the first move executed on a target, and if two people land KD on target we know the results. I know this can be alleviated by having a designated KDer but whomever gets stuck with that role loses out on ex. So I guess my wish would be to remove the posture change to standing from applying multiple sweeps, lunges, etc. I mean, how can we be the crowd control specialists if we can't keep multiple targets from attacking? Maybe this is as simple as fixing our accuracy which hopefully will get done with the combat pass.

BTW, there are numerous great ideas on this thread. Hopefully the Devs don't just brush them aside. Thanks for listening.

It is tough to get a good area sweep in.

You know... if they did make us defensive tanks I have a pretty interesting idea for a unique ability.

Marksmen get the Tumble skills from their Ranged Support line. Almost nobody uses them because they really don't get you much in battle...

But what if Pikeman got a Tumble to standing skill that ignores Dizzy? In other words, if someone hits us with Dizzy/KD, we can get right back into the fight despite the Dizzy at a slight action hit for the special. If they make it faster than /stand and include a normal-damage attack on the end, similar to the Marksman tumbles, that could be a tremendously effective unique meleeing skill for the class...

After all, when you're dizzy, you lean on something to get your balance. And what better weapon to lean on than a big stick?

Not really a wish, but more of a how it should be. I always hear that were supposed to be the biggest damage dealers, if thats the case they have a bit to fix, as swordsmen leave us breathing their dust in terms of accuracy in pure damage, and bleeds.

(1) Useful tricks like TKA has...I mean they get meditate and powerboost and force of will, we need something fun like that

(2) I'd like to see pikeman as a better crowd control class, better area KDs

(3) Area Bleeds sound good

(4) Ranged javelins also cool

(5) mounted combat sounds good too, I like the idea of having it on mouted critters and not vehicles.

Right now I like pikeman a lot but I may have to drop it because they are so uselss in pvp...the ham costs are ridiculous..I miss 6 times with a special and bam I am incapped...not cool...my main concern is having them good enough for pvp.
