I realy think a SPEAR for pikeman would be a cool new weapon ,that we can throw from a good distance and/or from a mount. And to be able to pull 1 MOB at a time from a group ,like rifleman can. What do u think Pikeman?

One, they would usually line up side-by-sideforming a sort of thorny wall. To get around one Pikeman's defenses basically meant impaling yourself on his neighbor's weapon. Essentially, your partner's offense becomes your defense.

If two or more Pikeman are grouped together, the group gains a defensive bonus relative to the number of Pikeman in the group. Perhaps something along the line of each Pikeman granting +10 Melee Defense per Pikeman in the group. You must have a polearm equipped tocontribute to the bonus, but not to gain from it. To me this would be the beginnings of an interesting role for Pikeman. If you see a line (group) of10 Pikeman (+100 Melee Defense) charging you on the combat field... you had better run the other way.

The two above bonuses would be stackable. Therefore a group with 3 Pikeman, 1 Fencer, 2 Brawlers, 1 TK,and 1 Swordsman would have a groupwide +30 Melee Defense (woot! I want Pikeman in MY group!) and the 3 Pikeman would have a +50 Accuracy bonus.

I realy like that.Shoulder to shoulder with another pikeman creating a wall ,its cool for PvP and group hunting.

OK, my idea is this - not highly original but someone mentioned a /focus command to lowerHAMcostsDRAMATICALLY (emphysis on the word dramatically) for timespan of say 5 minutes.. this command can be used as often as it likes but has a come down time... which reduces the strength/quickness/focusto 200(or less?)for 2-3 minutes which works similar to a spice

.. but obviously neither my ideas or any recent ideas will be taken into account because they are busy reworking the Pikeman skills (right? )

How about a retaliate mod- say a 20% chance that a blocked attack is retaliated. and a succsessfull retaliation would result in the pikeman pivoting aound the attacker, sweeping the legs for a knock down resulting in a dizzy effect..or pinning the attacker to the ground after the leg sweep.. and this could only happen in a melee attack situation.

My ideas... comming from one of the VERY few pikemen on tempest...

1. More weapons... Theres a ton of pistols and such, why not polearms? Possibly make the novice weapon something where you can add attachments to make it more powerful or to add different damage to it... Like add this and you get acid damage and poison dot, add this one and you get energy with burn dot. Looted ones can range from amazing to junk depending on the lvl of the mob killed. Manu add ons (by weaponsmiths) dont have a dot.

2. I like the idea everyone else had about area bleed. Not a good pvp skill but a great pve skill.

3. I cant hit ANYTHING! fix that please

4. for all brawler classes. Ranged combat classes just run from us and we cant hit them.

5. The vibro lance is almost worthless, I dont know any pikemen that use it... They all use the Long Vibro Axe for the AP2 and larger damage. Once you get it speed sliced its much better. And its proven that the range can get into the -27 range not just -55. (my LVA is -27 @ 0)

6. Standing animations would be nice just for some small amusment

7. There is a catagory for "thrown weapons" but none exsist. Could possibly tie this to pikeman

8. There needs to be a bonus for being a pikeman because next to jedi is the rarest profession. Toss in some amazing defense or change the Vibro Lance to AP3 (heavy ap) and we'll see more pikeman about.

9. Lower HAM costs on pike weapons. I cant go hunting unless im fully buffed and on a Muon. I kill myself before the MOB does.

and finally

10. Give the master box some goodies! Some more offense and defense bonuses, more attacks other then polearmhit3, a new weapon, and/or dizzy knockdown combo attack.

Those are my thoughts... expand on them if you like...

Hey Gunman i hope you read this. I was thinking of some ideas for Pikeman specials. Since are specials are mainly on area attacks. I was thinking of a a move where are (kinetic/electricty vibro lance/axe) hits the ground instead of the person sending a shockwave affect in a radius of 15m or so hehe. Maybe this is more of a animation affect, but i think it would be a awesome move. And when they come in contact with the shockwave it knocks them down, and has some kind of certain affect. I think if we rhad moves where you cant get close to us , we would finally be an elite profession and it would be how a pikeman should be .

Peiced together my topic... get ready, its lengthy...

Lengthy, but worth the read...

Name: Equilibruim Ieveceaga

Server: StarSider

Skills: 0/0/3/1

Other Skills: Scout, so I can sell some frakin hides to make SOME kind of money...

3/3/2/2 Medic... A neccisity for pikeman along with crates of moun and fishal and glucose...

Almost Master Marksman... for the sake of a badge and some chance of winning in extreme PvE Situations...

Novice Artisan, again, to make money...

I see pikeman as a godly class waiting to be unleashed... by simple physics, and blade swung on the long end of a pole multiplies the force of the swing, therefore allowing more output power than input, or, increasing its efficiency by the equation WORK IN/WORK OUT= efficiency... the polearm would be classified as a class 3 lever, like the baseball bat, and that states that more work can be output by the staff than input... combined with a vibrating blade that cuts through flesh with the smallest amounts of force to begin with, plus our RANGE, and our ability to block swords with the pole and still be able to attack quickly afterwards should make us the highest damaging melee class there is... the advantage of polearms in real life is simple... they can swung very fast, and you can attack very quickly, especially off a block... Think about it... A swordsman faces a Pikeman, the swordsman swings, the pikeman uses the middle part of the polearm to block... now that the sword is against the pole, the pikeman can rotate the shaft to bring his blade down on the opponent without ever opening himself to attack... however, if the swordsman wanted to attack, he would have to pull the sword back, and start a completely new swing... The strength of pikeman lie in balance, technique, and chaining together blocks and attacks to make every block or attack look like one fluid movement, which it is...

I hope I haven’t lost you in the above monologue, however, that is the hardcore facts... And NONE of it is reflected in this game... We are outdamaged by inferior swords, while faster, have to recoup after swinging by bringing their sowrd back if they are blocked... However, since you only swing one end of the pike, if youget blocked, down comes the other end, without delay... its truly hard to block a pike with a single sword or other weapon, because if you stop one end, your completely vulnerable to the other end... and even in light of the above, we are still outdamaged by fists and one-handed swords... We should have extremely LOW ham costs, due to the amazing amount of damage applied with so little force... once again, this is not reflected in the game whatsoever... Pikes are the slow, terrible accuracy weapons, which is so far from the truth its rediculous... they are very fast weapons that are hard to master, but are deft in the hands of knowledge... real pikeman chain attacks together (Watch some master fight with them and observe... they use the length of pike to their andvantage by constantly hitting or interfering with the attacker... WE should be outdamaged by a powerhammer, the crushing force under the weight is enormous, however, they arent nearly as fast... yea, you can whisk a sword around real fast, but in combat situations, your gonna get blocked an have to pull back... your not gonna do some whisking BS...

However, we see ourselves being damaged by swords that attacker far too fast, and never being blocked when they should be, the easiest thing to block with a polearm is a sword since you have the whole pole to block it with... however, we see none of high-damage, low HAM cost stated above... although I do agree our accuracy should be lower if target is right in front of us ( IE within 3 feet) because its hard to hit a target that close hard, because of the lack of the lever arm (Meaning you would have to "choke up" on the pike to hit him), however, thats not feasible, since all NPC enemies go toe to toe with you... our accuracy should be a tad less than other melees, but we are so fast in chaining attacks that it makes up for it...

What I would like to see...

I would like to see everything above considered and implemented, along with the ability to chain attacks into one large move... IE certain Certs could be placed for combos along the combat XP line ( the slowest of the lines) For a few different chain attacks, the first might be Polearm lunge one, followed by a regular strike right after... Then polearm sweep 1, followed by a regular hit and polearm hit one afterwards.. I dont know.. we'd be vulnerable during that time though, suffering 2x damage in the duration of the chain... Or just make a polearm chain one attack, that the user suffers 2x ranged and 2.5x melee damage to perform a damaging, two hit (Each hit costing HAM and doing in about 600-700 damage each hit) for a total of say, 1400 max damage… then you get combo 2 on the second tier of pole arms support, you get combo two, which might include a posture changing move, other than KD, just to make the oppenent kneel… this would go up to support 4 (we’d still get our bleeds and accuracy mods) where combo 4 might have 3 hits and a KD, but would cost 4/6 of your HAM… and at master you’d see a KD, bleed, and 2 hits fro ¾ HAM… anyways, Im just throwing out ideas… and I don’t mean to shamelessly make pikeman Uber, we need some love and all, but I propose a similar logic be applied to ALL Professions, throughout SWG including JedI, cause the for all the hype you put on it, your JedI community seems to think the system sucks… I mean seriously.. Hwy the hell are LASER SWORDS doing KINETIC DAMAGE! And how lame… using polearm anf fencer animations.. For the amount of hype attached to the profession, you could have at least made it original… Pikeman need more weapons and more moves… in fact most classes do… Just that pikeman has been shamelessly ignored by EVERYONE since day 1...

My thoughts..

(second post)

There could also be bonuses, like Chain Attack Effiency + 10 scattered throughout the profession...

A PERFECT example of my reasoning above is the battle between Darth Maul, Qui Gon, and Obi-Wan...
Darth took on two Jedis, and almost came out the victor, had it not been the movies... look at the way his attacks and blocks are fluid, while the jedi have to pull their sabers back to swing again (However, since this is star wars, they dont completly pull back, they kind of ricochet off and they make that into another swing)...

Hope devs catch a glimpse of this...

(third post)

I am talking about the "Asian" technique, which is also implemented in star wars, in the use of the double-bladed lightsaber and the way it is used... that is the way I believe polearms should be used... the only other methods I could think of would be the pikes used in the initial onslaught, but they are too large for close range combat...

WE should seriously be on eof the best melee classes, however, Im afriad it will ruin our individuality as pikeman, since people wil horde the profession... but its something we must give to recieve…

(Fourth post)

They should give us a choice then... one skill tree for heavy pikes, and the other for meduim ( I doubt there would be light as those would most likely be bamboo branches... Id like to see those against mereks =))... it should be like that for all professions, like pistols would have light and heavy sidearms, etc

As far as the stacking mods, gained from grouping with pikeman, i think this would be nice, and maybe every class in the game would contribute to a colective group mod.

And who knows, maybe we could have pets that give special bonuses by being grouped.

BUT i do not think this should be our strength.

As it is people argue that pikemans strength is to take on multiple enemies, and if nothign else keep them busy, even if we don't do all that much damage whilst doing this. It seems like the exact opposite for there to need to be multiple pikeman to effectivly fight any thing. I have enuff trouble finding another one as it is. I know you probably didn't mean it this way, I would just like to make it clear that you didn't, so the next patch when every one else get huge boosts, we don't just get some groop mod that would make us awesome if there were 20 of us.

Cool Group Mods-

Smuggler- +10%Credits for all

Pikeman- +15 Block

Pistoleer- +15 Cover Fire(the equivilent of a dodge move, just a name change to suit the situation)

Brawler- +5 Melee Damage/Defense

Marksman- +5 Ranged Damage/Defense

Swordsman- +10 Melee/Ranged Damage

Fencer- +10 Melee/Ranged Defense

Teras Kasi- +5% Power Boost and +5 Meditation for every person in their group(only works for them)

Rifleman- +5% accuracy and +5 cover for every person in their group(only works for them)

Carbineer- 5% HAM reduction to them and their group.

Bounty Hunter- N/A

Commando- 5% increase in EXP for all.

and they only can do these skills at master....and may or may not require promting and HAM costs to use each battle, maybe they last 5 minutes, and if a character amster multiple proffesions they can use the bonuses from all of them at once, and with the same "move."

My vision for TKAs....
