I remeber those post the Devs put up a few months ago asking each profession what role they felt they played in combat.

I guess the melee characters wrote that they wanted to have no defense and no ability to fight high end creatures.

"Mr Swordsman, what do you feel your role in a group should be"

"Well Mr Dev, i wanna be killed constantly with absolutely no way to prevent it so that Docs can get exp bringing me back to like"

Your wish has been granted.

i keep telling myself things are going to get better i havent used bleeds or warcry in nearly a month now whats up with this i picked up a crabine the other day maybe it will help with a few things .... but i have noticed scythblade is very effective in pvp in comparasion to the hammer or the curvedsword aside from ppl and their 80% kinetic

I just want to know what the point to being a swordsman is. We certainly don't have the best DPS. We lost the one good thing we had, bleeds. But we were still able to survive thanks to warcry 2, intimidate 2, and defense stacking. Without those, what is the point to being a swordsman? We are going to be the worst PvP class, even worse than a pikeman.

Am I going to quit swordsman? No. I've been a swordsman since beta, and I have no desire to change classes. But, I'm definately going to have to rely on other classes just to survive.

I have a plan for a very nice template post publish 7, but swordsman will definately not be the best choice of a class. I'll merely be trying my hardest to make the best of it.

Doomsayers... pathetic.

I'm amaster post bleed nerf, so admittedly i don't know what i am missing, but so far everything is great in this class (barring issues such as toughness and wasted specials)...

Now, lets all say this together- WARCRY 2 WAS OVERPOWERED. Come on. I'm using it right now to wipe clean the gen caves... the new warcry 2 DOES need to be AOE though. Since when is a yell only projected in a cone??

Nerf to intimidate- now this is ridiculous IF TRUE. Intim is already commonly resisted. Not nearly as powerful as WC2... As a master brawler, w/o bio clothes, I was constantly not landing this.... Leave it alone or increase its ability to land.

I take it you don't PvP?

I also take it you haven't done PvE with a rifleman who has a good T-21? Or with a TKA who spams his moves with a good VK? Both of them will outdamage us.

Swordsmen have almost always been sub-par to other combat classes. But we were always able to compete somewhat, thanks to our awesome bleeds, plus master brawler skills. But now we had/will have them taken away, which means our backbone will be torn away.

Just wait till after publish 7, when our master brawler skills and defense stacking are nerfed. I'm willing to bet all the old "TKA vs. swordsman" complaints will rear their heads once more. Dizzy/KD will again be the end all PvP move it once was, and we won't even have our bleeds to support us anymore.

I ask again. What will swordsmen have after publish 7?

Retraction: intimidate isn't seeing any changes. This was just a bug.

People were stacking defenses because it made them near-dieties in PvP, not to solo Krayts. The Krayt's accuracy was such that even the best defense stackers still got hit.

Yup, this is absolutely correct. In PvE you will find that stacked defenses do help against say, Geonosians, but not against NS Elders or krayts. Anything above 50k or so HAM probably has enough accuracy to hit you 100% of the time reguardless of your skill mods.

Which is actually a problem. None of our defenses actually work against that stuff outside of melee toughness and mitigation.

StGabe.

These changes do nothing to address the real problem- the over effective player armor and 2k buffs. As a player the relies on neither I will now have to rely on both to fight anything that takes me more than a few seconds to kill. I've already written off PvP because of the disparities between players with buffs and armor and those without. Now PvE has the potential of being off limits as well.

Seriously, what's the base point for their balancing going to be? A regular master class or a master class with 90% resist armor, 2.5k buffs, entertainer/dancer buffs, with a full stomach and on spice? How can you balance between the two when one is so outragously overpowered compared to the other? SOE has a fundamental game design dilemma on their hands.

They say they are getting rid of some state effects because they are no fun for the effected player. Well having to run around begging for buffs while replacing a full set of composite armor every other week isn't particulary fun either. Especially when your one of the rare few who only have one toon so you aren't making money hand over fist to pay for 10k buffs and 100k armor sets.

Ha, 100 k sets of armor? Try 500 K to 1 million for a set that actually has decent stun resists. The devs must think brawling is unstarwarsie and would rather have combat medics uber with area 2,000 point mind poisons to balance the game.

Heh, 80% composite with Stun resists on Chilastra is atleast 3million.

It boggles my mind to find that they continue to nerf a profession that is essentially useless in PVP as it is (honestly, can anyone really hit witha -31 PH?, and don't get me started on 80% kinetic comp)....yet continue to leave (and in fact ENCOURAGE) a profession that incorporates poisons and diseases in their arsenal. Are the developers in fact encouraging the use of chemical and biological weapons? If so, please let me knowwhat profession willhavethe orbital bombardment or nuclear strike ability please. I'll take that profession, since I have no defenses, and I can't get even remotely close to any ranged target without getting whooped up on.

So at this point, I will remove intimidate, warcry andbleeds (wait, I already removed bleeds), etc from my toolbar. Are there any other status changing effects that actually work that they want to take away? What a freakin joke.

I want to know what clowns are saying nerf brawler classes? Rifleman? Heck, how does a rifleman have better melee defense that I do? Why not fix what awful stuff has been done to the game so far, then try to make changes?

You have the potential for a great game, but morons are in charge. Who the heck wrote up, or told TH to write up, the article on armor attachments? As far as I can read, it's wrong, and will result in a lot of people losing SEAs.....

Obviously not a dig on you StGabe, but for the love of GOD, please go tell them to get their heads out of their keysters!

Ugh, intimidate is nerfed too.

awww, don't use the word "nerfed"... "balanced" is the word, yes.. balanced, as all skills shall be. I really hope this is to change from test center before it hits live. If we can't have intimidate or warcry usable, I fear we may have seen the last master brawler

I'm not disagreeing with your point. I took up swordsman at the same time I gave up PvP for good. I do disagree with KD being the uber move now, however. My local chef makes food that gives you plus 81 to your KD defense for 14 minutes.

They are slowly taking out all the state effects. It seems that the combat rebalance is heading toward an EQ-like war of attrition where characters click attack on each other and watch until one or the other is standing.
