Thread: State of Pikemen.
I recently moved to pikeman after seeing one of the Jedi on Bria. I realized I was going to need something more powerful than a pistoleer to kill him and an acquantaince of mine told me about his percieved strength of pikeman. Well, you guys have completely disenchanted me to this.
Now I'm a man with no profession.
Sorry to turn this into more of a story, this is my first time posting in this forum, but I think it's a good morale booster 
. I have a 0 1 3 1 Twi'lek TK/master musicianon Flurry, and he was created as a 2nd character. My main char on Starsider was a carbineer, medic, squad leader, until I became so disappointed with SL I pretty much stopped playing the char. I was having so much fun with TK, but was just completely bored of carbineer by itself, and SL *cough*. I didn't want to just make another TK, so I researched melee classes and decided to be something a little more unique and rare.After speaking with a master doc/ master pikeman, and watching him fight, I decided this was the path I wanted to take.
Since then I have been moving up the tree at a pretty decent rate mostly fighting while buffed near Anchorhead and north of Coronet. I am now 0 0 3 1 pikeman and I have to say, despite all of the bad things I've heard, the noticeable inaccuracy at times, and the decent amount of HAM used, I enjoy it. The /centerofbalance (i think) seems to make a noticeable enough difference in defense, as well as I do notice I'm taking less damage since blocking has been enabled (or it could all be in my head :-p ) I also enjoy the fact that the vibro lance does electricity damage, so I swap them out after verifying the creature's weaknesses and I've been doing pretty well.
One trait of pikeman which I thoroughly enjoy isthe fact that the class is designed not like the TK to inflict damage at amazing speeds to a single target while adding a ton of status attacks, the pikeman is designed to take on multiple targets, while doing great damage. I mean, an example of how I think pikeman does hold up, is last week on my TK with my pet cowardly gurreck I (stupidly) attempted to take on a wrix and was immediately surrounded by 4 and 2 mottled and even with my stims and knockdown, did not make it out in one piece. Last night with my pikeman, I was feeling frisky and decided to take on the same size wrix lair with yet another cowardly gurreck. I shot at one with my carbine, and they all charged me, I turned on my /centerofbalance and awaited the coming onslaught.. As soon as they were in range I did my pike sweep 2 kd move, and dropped 5 of them at once.. now I'm sorry but that just plain rocks! I then did the basic area attack move like 3 times and had taken out 4 of them by the 3rd swing.. That feeling alone is the reason I know pikeman was meant for me, and I'm a lifer...
Another point to bring up from that, is all the bonuses I have in my TK tree with the other char are speed and damage, while my bonuses so far in pikeman are only defensive.. I haven't raised accuracy or speed, and I was still able to take on those odds. I then took on war grondas which I got pummelled by with my TK because of their 60% kinetic defense.. but much to my liking, they have 0 defense against electricity, and I was able to do tremendous damage withe my vibro lance and knockdown to collect 2500 or so experience quite easily soloing a war gronda with only stimming twice.

My goodness this thread has gotten out of hand. Defiler started with a very reasonable post. He was incorrect through ignorance and asked for clarification. All I have seen from most of you is insults however, even those of you who actually did clarify for him. Pitiful.
These boards are intended for constructive use, for questions about the profession. But you have all turned this into a bitch fest, and whenever someone says otherwise you pile on. If you want that, fine go make your own board to bitch on. I would rather see constructive conversation so that we don't convince the devs we are all slovering idiots, who are just complaining because we aren't mini-gods.
Defiler, I apologize for the treatment you have recieved on these boards. It was unjust and quite honestly sad.

Just to set the record strait this section is for posting known problems with the pikeman class. We have a section for newbie questions defiler failed to use it. So fine he asked a simple questionin the wrong place nobody’s mad because of that but if you read his posts he wasn't even Novice Pikeman yet and decided to post the problems we pikeman have aren't as bad as we say because based on howour class is supposed to be we're fine. NEWS FLASHour class isn't even close to functioning to the stats we're supposed to be.To fight anything we need to be very close no problem but being close we become the primary target so when we're supposed to be able to defend against dizzy and blind and we never do that’s a problem. We're not the least popular class because are abilities work and they suck. We're the least popular class because even the few perks we get are completely useless. I've been a pikeman for five months now and I can remember a time pre-nerfs that my moves were almost useful before they messed with the moves (KD good example) based on other classes. And most people here are just hanging on hoping Sony will eventually give us some form of attention rather then pissing us off on every patch. Personally I almost popped a blood vessel when I saw every melee class except us on thepatch list. So whensomeone posts hey this class is fine and doesn’t need fixing as defilers post did. Then insults the oneperson who volunteers his free time to helping us get some attention on these boards. I'm sorry he picked the wrong group of stepped on people to mess with. For a lot of us he struck a nerve maybe your situation is different than anyone else’s but I'm sick of not getting XP in a group because the classes that get attention can kill most creatures before I can get in range, and yet I can't solo anything because I can't hit half as much as any opponent I fight, leaving me stuck bleeding my target and running (just not fun). Anyway I'm venting.
Lets stick to what needs to be fixed in this forum and save foolish notions for the FAQ section.

An important positive post, hi-jacked rather severely, went waaay astray. Apparently I was under the illusion that flame wars only happened in the twelve year old forums.

I love the pikeman class. But the calibre of people I see on this board sickens me. I haven't posted much. But I doubt I will bother to post again or read this board for a long time.
You know, it's easy to blame one person or another when a fight breaks out, but you know what?
We were throwing punches at defiler and he was throwing them back (who started the punching is a useless fact if both sides were doing it in the end)
I claim no moral victory because in the end it dominated a post that was supposed to be about fixing us, too bad, i guess next time we should just correct the guy and then ignore him/her if they start flaming in a post like this.
