I guess a lot of this could be boiled down to "why are we the worst as so many things and the best at nothing?", but here's the extended version:

1) Exactly how is block designed to work? If it's working properly, what is the rationale behind it still allowing damage whereas dodge and counterattack do not?

2) Our two best weapons average about -55 and -35 accuracy, whereas the best weapons for other melee professions don't even approach this (the power hammer is pretty low, but no worse than the vibro lance's -35). Is this intentional or is it a schematic error? Similarly, are the HAM costs correct?

3) Since the class seems to largely focus on knockdown/posture change moves which were orginally designed without a timer, how is it going to be adapted to the current situation with timed posture changes?

4) Each class is supposed to have its strengths and its weaknesses. We have many glaring weaknesses, what are our intended strengths?

5) Why does polearmhit3 have a 3x modifier whereas the other melees have 4x at master?

6) Just what is our primary role as seen by the devs?

7) Other "broken" classes are being granted considerable attention (BE, chef, DE). Pikeman is seen by many as being broken. Is it being granted similar attention, or simply being addressed as part of the overarching combat pass?

8) We are the poorest class defensively of any melee profession (due to block allowing damage, low toughness, low state defenses, and so forth), and also do the most HAM damage to ourselves with our special attacks, yet we lack capabilities (offensive or otherwise) to offset this. How is this being addressed?

9) How is armor piercing supposed to affect damage, and is it working as intended?

10) Why are we not granted any weapon certification at polearms 4?

I have a few questions:

1)Why do our special attacks take alot out of our HAM?

Because of this I picked up Doctor just to buff myself so I can have a reasonable amount of cost for my specials.

2) Could we get a little more defense?

I was fighting a Fencer, who was 2/4/1/1, and I am a pikeman who is 3/2/3/3. Although we are about even, I have a slight advantage. While I was fighting him, he got in 3 hits every time I got it 1. What bothers me is that he HIT every time. I have almost mastered my defenses, and a Fencer of that caliber can kick my but.

3) Where are the new pikes?

I have seen a new pike on Kauri, and it looks very nice. I was just wondering when and if we are getting new pikes.

4) Have you read our Wishlist?

There are alot of pikemen wishing for area bleeds and Pikeman mounted combat. Please tell us if this is possible. I would love to have something just for pikemen.

Definition of "unfair combat situation according to dev."

-one person spends 250 skill points on melee combat and masters an array of defensive skills from all of the professions can beat a person that masters one form of combat......

Definition of "unfair combat situation according to everyone else"

-one person spends 250 skill points on melee combat and masters an array of defenseive skills from all of the professions has no better chance to beat someone who masters one form of combat.....

I'd love to know why the developers decided that stacking defences(yet one more solution people have found to trying to overcome the gimpness of pikeman), is somehow unvalid.... perhaps they should take up fencer... JUST fencer.... and see what the sum total of JUST their melee defence is.... NOT THAT MUCH.... given that no single professions defences are enough to make a difference, why are they surprised that people are stacking them, and coming up with good combinations.. heaven forbid we go beyond the cookie cutter of one profession... if this is the case.. just give us 150 skill points.... the other 100 wont affect the first 150 anyways..there ARE ways around good defence, skill attachments, ranged support tree to get more 'general accuracy'.....

Why is it the developers keep telling us "every profession affects the other, that's why these changes take so long", yet fail to realize that "having multiple professions under one character should make that character better".... people will be forced to and already do stack OFFENCE.... EXAMPLE, the tk/commando.... I knock you down, dizzy you, then flame you..... is THAT ok??? Was it "intended" that I be able to flame you on the ground when your defenceless??? can't run to water too quick when your lying knocked down on the ground... well that's not fair... from now on, no using 2 kinds of offence in one round of combat.... that's just UNFAIR!!!

(ok I"m done)

I refuse to bend knee and beg for scraps when I should be sitting at the table.

I will accept no less than devoted attention to our profession followed swiftly by positive change.

they should bethankful anyone is willing to pick up a pikeever again after the "attention in 3 days after they got the jedi issues"..... this is about a total lack of respect the dev. are showing towards a small community in the game letting pikeman issues go unattended since september.... Until they realize that "our community is small not because people don't like pikeman, but because our profession is in bad need of a revamp", we should stuff that statement in their faces. TH recently said that attention to a profession is based on it's player base.... well here's some news... people play with what works, people tend not to stick with something if they get their asses handed to them when they stick with that profession.. so WHY aren't they fixing professions that are broken and/or uneffective

TheHeadMunky thats very very flawed way of saying that, are you saying that a person who is playing this game, and maybe enjoys parts of it, doesn't have the right to complain about parts that don't work right are imbalanced or makes some of it unenjoyable.

its like that cocky thing about america that usually you hear redneck people say

"If you don't like it, leave."

well, maybe they do like it just not parts or, they don't like it at all but its the lesser of two evils and finally maybe (and this doesnt apply to SWG obviously) they can't leave yet IE too young.

Pikeman is a fun class, but there are alot of things holding us back and the devs have stated that ALL professions should be fun and enjoyable and that is why they are working on them, as far as their priorties go with Jedi coming first I can see why that happend but still it does suck nonetheless, especially when we and many other professions have had the same issues since day one.

honestly i think we should speak for everybody when we do ask

"Why do you think stacking defenses is unfair when it is done by using skill points tha EVERYONE has the same amount of? Should I not have the right to spend the extra points I have to counter some of the problems in another profession IE Low Def.?"

i just dont think it's that bad of a class... just get buffs and you're set. a round of buffs costs ... what, 6k max? you make like 9k per mission... just go out and get a bunch of credits. it's not hard. i'm from new jersey, so i'm not a redneck. but good call.

Well, in all honesty I love pikeman, the look and the potential. Saying our class is fine with buffs is an argument many carbineers have been using for months with their high HAM costs aswell, and if high HAM costs were the only problems I saw with pikeman I probably wouldn't "complain" at all. But I only "complain" because I want this profession to be better.

You should've seen fencer before our coorispondent got a hold of the developer for the profession, "why did it get a massive defence increase while pikeman was left swingingat air"? because the coorispondent showed an amazing ability to show the developers what was wrong with fencer, and why fencer's defences weren't working, and you can thank that coorespondent for having working state defences now.... because they sure weren't working before.

The developers have shown again and again the the people who whine get whatever the hell they want, a dangerous framework to put in place, but would you have told the commando that couldn't hurt a fly to "shut up and leave commando if you don't like it"..... well the commando, like the fencer, like even the tk who was upset about a crappy powerboost, bitched to high heavens, had the player support and the technicial data from the test center to get the changes they deserved NOW.... not 5 months after a completereconfiguration of everything... can you imigine the commando profession if thedevelopers put it offas long as they put off our issues??

So now that we're given a chance to be heard, and can really ask/put the development team on the spot for the less thenaverage attention this profession has gotten, why should I hold the attitude that they are doing ME the favour. I'll say again, we are the weakest, slowest, least defensive, least defined profession in all of melee, with high costs forbelow average modifiers, and poor weapons to say the least. If this is alright for you, then why are you even on these boards.. to congraduate thedevelopment team on their outstanding job on pikeman?, while you look for a doctor so you can go play, or even better, are forced to becomea doctor to make pikeman work for you. Well I love this profession, and I want it better. If it can stand on it's own, even better, but since it can't right now by your own admission, I will also "complain" if they take away stacked defences, thus once again making all melee artists be forced to be doctors to get a working defence.. "isn't melee suppose to be the new tank in the game anyways"??

we shouldnt need buffs to be viable, beileve me other classes dont (some do but hardly any) so why should we have to rely on other classes to make ours even decent
