Rifleman gets no area attack specials in the CU.
To get them you either need Carbineer for the area specials or Commando where the weapons have damage cones.
or even pistoleer ^_^
Pistoleer gives you /improvedfanshot, which is a nice aoe cone attack that works well with a rifle. But it's the other abilities from pistol that I like so far: /advancedstoppingshot (+rooted+), /intimidateshot (+intimidate+), /improveddisarmingshot (delay), improvedburstshot (+stun+)... lots of versatility picked up through pistoleer, plus the skill and defence mods (assumingthey make some sort of difference) stack nicely.

Aye, a nice mix of Pistoleer and Carbineer makes a Rifleman weep for joy in battle.I had 12 or more specials in my toolbar. 47 kills, 4 deaths so far in group combat on TC.

I've been playing with Master Rifle / Master Pistoleer / 4004 scout / 3000 Squad Leader. With this setup, you get the sniper aspects of post-CU rifleman, defense/crowd control/area attack etc. from pistoleer, and the ability to crawl nice and fast when under cover from scout + SL, as long as you (or another SL) are group leader (can be grouped with a droid/pet).
I've also tested Master Rifleman and 3000 SL with various combinations of BH, Carbineer, etc. BH gives good speed, accuracy, and defense mods, enables some weapon diversity, and would allow for jedi hunting (not something I've been particularly interested in). Carbineer makes rifleman more like the heavy-gunner of the profession as it currently stands; full auto area seems to have a wider cone than fan shot.

I got my area attacks back by taking Pikeman. Best move I made, and now I have an area KD. Very nice when you get slammed by some idiot who doesn't know how to group fight.

Pikeman is the only meele class with area attack ?
thought tka and fencer had one too, MEH.

Pikeman area attacks pretty much SUCK!!
Warcray is Area attack, and improved sweep - but both are pretty useless.
Warcry is nice to a point, it will force root/snare and other specials to stay longer.

PS..
As Master Swordsmen we should not have to take up any other elite professions for a higher "Skill" level, or to grant us other skills/moves

As all, or most of us know, before the CU every Lightsaber tree had an area attack at tier 4 and master, and double bladed had spin attack at tier 2 and 4. Since the CU, the tier 4 area attack was moved up to master, only spin attack remained in the double bladed tree.
A great deal of Jedi now just take x4x4 saber, or 4xx4 like myself. As master defender allows us to tank a number of mobs at once, I see it only fair that all saber types are rewarded with an area attack. The best way I can think of to implement such a thing would be to move the Spin Attack from double bladed, and into the techniques tree. Powers get area attack for the main offense tree, so isnt it onlyt fair that saber wielders get the same treatment? I do not intend on getting rid of my 4xx4 saber, because the animations and general looks of the style please me alot more
I know alot of people feel the same about an area attack, because now M LS is pretty much useless, and not many people use double bladed, I think it would please alot more people

If you get brawler 0004 you can have the area kd, which in my opinion is the only reason you'd want an area attack, seeing as how there are no area states like there use to be. (unless, you use commando)
