Defiler....no one is saying you can't ask questions here. Just do a better job of it. Making a post saying "What is melee toughness and how does it affect melee? Why did you say that pikeman have the lowest defenses, when it looks to me like they have some high numbers in status defenses" would have come off better than comming here and through assumptions saying flat out that we actually don't have the lowest defenses.
Defiler, do not come to our boards and insult our correspondent who has done an excellent job thus far because you dissagree with him. You are the one being rude in your post. Opeth had every right to respond to you the way he did and I commend him for it.
Opeth is doing everything he needs to be doing, and he's doing it **edit** well. You have not ever been a melee, you do not know that resistances are working, or that a lot of TKA would switch toughness for resistances....because the fact reamains that any experienced melee person will tell you that toughness is one of the most important modifiers a melee player can have.
You also -assume- that we haven't taken all of the mods from each melee and compared them. Find antares' post and look at the chart....you will clearly see that we do indeed have the lowest mods of the melee classes...you may remove your foot from your mouth now.

I didn't come here to earn brownie points from anyone. At the same time, I didn't come here to upset anybody. My original post shouldn't have (there I go making assumptions again, let me get ready for my next lynching) offended anyone. I simplystated my questions and my points, and provided the reasons for my points. I did so in a professional manner and expected them to be answered in kind. I made assumptions based on my limitedknowledge (which I admitted), but I did not simply make assumptions and leave them at that. I knew there had to be some reasons behind what was said, that's why I asked.
Now, I did know that my replies to the correspondent would generate some ill feelings towards me. I understand everyone is going to defend their profession and correspondents when they feel they are under attack. I just don't see how anyone can read my original posts and then the correspondent's reply, and feel that I came here with malicious intent. I expected a friendly discussion, next time I'll just make sure to lower those expectations when I visit this forum.
Aside from that, I appreciate your answers. I feel enlightened. I have already achieved Novice Pikeman, so I may not be a heavyweight with experience but nobody can say I haven't played melee... lol.
Sorry Opthe..Kinda have to agree with defiler...You were a little rude in your respones to him, and he is going for master Pike, even thoughi it is a Holocron order, he is still one of us for the time being. More of us=more Dev attention. You are doing a good job for but you shoul not let your emotion enter in to your respones beinga Corrospondent.

Hello, Defiler! I'm glad we will have another player who was forced to join our ranks! We certainly appreciate that you are willing to grace us with your presence for two weeks while you grind out master and then surrender it for the next profession on your holocron!
It's as if I went into the chef forum and said, "Hey your profession is great! I just looked at your skill tree and you can make a bunch of different foods and drinks n stuff. You can make more things than weaponsmiths, so I think youcan make more money than them. You guys are a pretty good profession!"
I didn't pull that report out of my ass. It was gleaned from the contributions ofall the pikemen on this forum. When we say we are outclassed by TKs, it's backed up by actual experiences. We've grouped with TKs. We've dueled against them. We know how we compare. And it's simply arrogance when someone who has never played a melee profession--who doesn't even know what toughness is--comes in and starts says we have superior defense.

Alright, so my decision to become a Pikeman was holo-induced. Who is to say that it won't be something I keep? I looked at the profession, I did all the homework I could and asked questions where I needed clarification. There is nothing arrogant about asking a question. You are the one flaunting arrogance by saying things like "You obviously have never played a melee character" - well, duh. Instead of a welcome I get trashed by the correspondent, heck of a way to do things.
You are also good at completely changing the subject of discussion. I never said anything about Pikemen being superior in duels with TKs. I asked how you could claim inferior defensive mods compared to "other" professions. That does not mean just TK, you were referring to all of them.

I gave evidence to support my views, and asked you to explain yours. That's all you had to do. Instead you decide to take on a really sick attitude towards me, there was no reason for that.
If I had tocome up with a list of qualities I would not want my correspondent to have, it would be:bad attitude,immature, condescending, ignorant, and rude. That's about all the qualities you have displayed so far.

I apologize to the rest of the players reading these forums for this turning out the way it did. It's not fair to you, and it's my fault for not just being the bigger man and walking away. I displayed my own bad qualities here, but I'm not representing an entire profession. I probably would have completely ignored him if he wasn't the correspondent... because those are the types of posts you get used to.

Well said my friend, but lets face it. The DEV's care little about us few, proud pikemen. They have repeately ingnored us in every aspect of development. I think you will see fewer and fewer pikemen in the future due to our compltely substandard class. We are by far the worse fighters in the galaxiedue to the DEV's. I had a novice TKA beat the crap out of my master pike on sevral duels. we all know the problems. the Dev's know te problems. But the just don't care about us. They will not spend the time to fix our class because its not usefull when so many other classes are more popular. All the grinding you did to make master is for not. Best to head to the nearest nightsister with your pike held in offering and let her take your head off. you have little chance of holding your own as a master against anything but meatlumps.

That's a very constructive post, "mate." I don't know where I would be without your insight.
I've realized my mistake, or mistakes rather... and I have learned from them. I thinkwe might have aslight disagreement on what my mistakes were, though.
Show me anything in my original 3 posts that comes close to being cocky. I was pretty **edit** humble and polite, and I was 100% honest. I presented my thoughts and backed them up with the information I had. I requested an explanation, some information and some clarification. Insteadof providing that for me, look at what was done. Truly it is quite sad.
Again, thank you for your post it really means a lot to me. It's a good measure of who I need to learn from and who I need to ignore. It'slike the dog barking next door, every now and then I've got to yell at the stupid dog to shut up.
This is my first time reading this forum and I have to admit that I am a little disappointed. I agree with Izdefiler. He may not be a hundred percent accurate when it comes to his comparisons, but he does notdeserve to be insulted or yelled at (especially by the correspondent) for asking questions or attempting to contribute to the discussion at hand. We all acknowledge that there areconcerns with our chosen profession, but without a proper discussion of those problems (whether you agree with someone's opinion or not), we will never be able to adequately inform the Devs of what needs to be fixed.
