hi gunman, just wondering how combat medics are gonna weigh in against pikeman now that we don't have dots.... i was looking at the combat medic threads and by the looks of it they aren't losing their poison, in fact at first glance they look like they might have more attacks than before, and their offence rating is rated STRNG. i'm a little worried, you know anything....

How is speed calculated? AT master pikes + master brawler (plus a few "general melee speed" add-ins) +21 in pike speed tapes and usign a 2.4spd LVA, how do i become speed capped??

So far I do like the new look to CU. I wish pikeman were going to do more damage but saddly we are not. Still I am hoping that we will have good NPC drops to make us more useful on the battlefield. I do like that pikeman are going to be one of the best defenders. That really is the role of a pikeman to defend. Would have been nice to have gotten a couple of new specials but I guess intimidate and warcry will do. Other professions are really going to miss those two specials. Pikeman bounty hunter will be a great combo. Jedi hate nothing more than being intimidated, warcried and knocked on their force sensitive backsides. I will however be keeping my same template of pikeman/doc. For me the new defences of pikeman will serve me greatly as a doctor since a doc is mainly a single target healer. Also, being able to heal myself will keep me in the fight longer giving me the ability to outlast more damaging professions.


Many of you are missing the combat que. I am with you is missing it mainly for its ability to let you know when you are being attacked and when you have been successful in making a stratigic withdraw, (ran your bum off to break agro). I am sure that we will all get used to watching the icons instead of the que but we really do need to know when we are being attacked and when we have broken agro.

The abilty of warcry gives some opportunity to pikeman.

If the cooling down of warcry doesnt inflict healing state (like dizzy or stun), it gives an advantage in pvp (like duelling) i think. Someone dizzy you, and react with warcry/heal dizzy.

Its pretty difficult to determine that right now. Since last time I checked we couldn't train in elite skills we have no access to the higher level weaponry, armor and specials.

Its pretty tough to test damage potential with a metal staff.

What would be the thought on a fencer as a secondary to pikeman? Being able to tank, switch weapons for occasional high damage and back...


I haven't been on TC so this is just using thought.

Oh and another thing. What has the experience been with Novice medic? Is it still as viable as it is now? Or have they significantly reduced healing?

I was wondering if anyone knows true data on the respec (i think that was what it was called) thingy. Like would I have to take stuff out of pikeman to get unarmed skills or could I take skill points used in the medic prof (which I am dropping) to make up for the missing bar.


Just an idea, wouldn't it be easier if instead of rearranging the skills you already have you would have you skill mods and certs for the pikeman bar disabled until you ground out the unarmed line that way the grind to get the skills you have now wouldn't be a waste.

You can get higher level weapons from the blue frog, pretty decent stuff if you ask me and if you keep in mind that players will be able to make better after a time, we should do pretty good. We now have a wider range of damage types which I am personally really thankful for. No longer are we stuck with just kenetic and electricty or paying a bundle for energy that really isn't all that effective. In large pvp before the CU pikemen were just another body on the battlefield. If we could go one on one with someone we are a really great class do to DOT. We are exceptionally stong against Jedi. Except for a decent knockdown large scale pvp just isn't our calling. Hopefully that will change.


There was a question about CU medics, this isn't really the proper forum but since we are talking about other profs to combine with pike, I don't mind at all. Alot of work needs to be done on medic still. The heals aren't bad at all and except for the time delay are unlimited. At 2/2/2/0 I can heal from 250 to 450. Not bad if you ask me but at low levels you can really use up your action pool. At low level medic is a must unless you are in a large group and still is recomended. The area heal at this time is not working. There is a real problem with gaining exp for medic. You must be in a group and fighting. Your exp comes as part of your exp for killing the npc. In otherwords, if your group kills an NPC for 2000exp and you heal another player you might get 1500 prof exp and 500 medic while everyone else who doesn't heal gets 2000 prof exp. If you ask me they really need to rethink that concept.

pikeman i believe needs some adjustment. i had polearm 3 dueling a novice pikeman, he had lance i had reenforced staff. we dueed for 10 minutes of course using some heals he had no armor on and neither of us were makign any headway. a novice pikeman should with out question own pole 3 player. sure he coudl have worn his armor and we tried that too i couldnt dmg him but he couldnt kill me either with only novice medic to heal myself. something is wrong here. ignore typos

i'm 1/0/0/0 pikeman on TC-EP3 and it's going good so far. sugestion for all don't bother with the lance. go to the night sister lance. does way more damage. the armor is cool i have bone as my basic (it has 0% to all the decreses) padded as my medium( has 8.5%) and Rebel battle as my heavy (has 15.4%) did a test on a gufdrolg. the medium resisted 37% of the kin dmg and the heavy resisted 44%. a problem i've found is with double dmg weapons (eg laser carbin) the resisting is messed up on that. but atm were doin good. at first i was disapointed that we only got battle but now that i think of it. it's good. it has balanced kin/energy resist. which is good b/c tka VK is energy dmg.

i dueled a TKA, Swordsman and Fencer. as well as a pistolere. all my level (swordsman was 26 i was 15 at the time) and i KICKED ALL THEIR BUTS!!!. hehe. we rock.
