The unarmed pre-req has been replaced with 2-h.
I've ranted elsewhere already, so I'll leave it at that

I have a master pike/TK 0 4 0 4 with some medic. She'll be fine after the CU, I think. However. All pikemen need to be aware that you'll *really* probably have to have some TK after the CU.
My other account is a Master Armorsmith and they are seriously breaking armor and armorsmithing. Here's the bad news on the armor front:
1 - You're going to lose all your AAs. So far, none of the schematics have sockets. And even if they do add them back, there won't be any sockets in gloves or boots for sure (where many people keep their tapes).
2 - Armor costs are going to go up 10x - 40x depending on who you ask (armors now require FAR more exotic resources which will be harder to accquire after the UpNerf)
3 - Armor will be harder to find. There are so many angry smiths, there may be few left after the UpNerf hits.
4 - Armor will be stupid. The ammount of protection armor gives is now directly related to its encumberance. So if you plan on "tanking" as the combat chart suggests, you won't be doing any attacks, because high protection armor *always* has extreme debuffs and hinderances now.
Read the Armorsmith boards for a more depressing view of the Post-CU world.

Its pretty difficult to determine that right now. Since last time I checked we couldn't train in elite skills we have no access to the higher level weaponry, armor and specials.
Its pretty tough to test damage potential with a metal staff.
I bet, even though our offense is said to be "weak," we'll still have an easier time doing damage than we do now. Go duel a fully armored fencer-stacker without DOTs and then tell me you disagree.

Two-handed makes vastly more sense.
not when the lva cert is in the commando skill trees(which requires unarmed) seriously though, whoever said pikemen rule is crazy, or they dueled some horrible pvpers. anyone who does not want to play a ranged character will cancel their subscription once the combat upgrade goes live.

Pikeman concerns:
The Long Vibro Axe as a commando certification doesn't make sence IMHO. Especially the Heavy Acid Weapons branch. Unless the LVA is going to squirt acid, polearms should be a pikeman/polearm(Brawler) certification.
The pikeman moves are pretty nice. The sweeps in particular. Though I fear it will basically be the same way as always to win a battle. "Sweep" "Stab" "Stab". Instead of the "Dizzy" "Sweep" "Stab" "Stab." Did a little bit of dueling on TC-Bria and only lost to the jedi, most likely because no one knows how thier profession works anymore. Either way none of the battles lasted more than 10-20 seconds or 3-5 moves.
General concerns:
I'd really like to see the Combat queue back, watching the toolbar to see which little box is highlighted to know what move is next instead of your health or opponent's movement is not helpful in the least. Let alone memorizing which overly decorated icon does what. They are pretty though, but not necessary. Having the combat queue would be much more benificial, even if it only hold 2-3 moves at a time. Being able to clearly identify what you selected as a move.
I wasn't able to figure out the Armor refiting thing. I read some where you have the option to modify your Composite into Battle Armor? I Crashed when I left the city to try out some NPC missions. Ended Testing here

from looking at some forums, this may be the stupidest Q of all time, when CU hits do we have to Re-Grind our profs? im hoping not

the devs told us pre-cu good weapons will still be good after the cu. my 1.2k pike is around 700 max dmg now. i think the lva cert should be moved to the master box and the max dmg should be higher, like it was told before. or do you want to tell me ive spend 40mil for nothing?

You shouldn't need to regrind anything. They will have a respec. Basically, you will be able to switch your characters skill boxes around to other place. So if I was a master pike/master sword before, I could respec myself to a master pike/master TKA or master pike/master rifle...we don't have that many details on it though.

I've been testing pikes on TC-Ep3, fighting lots of different professions. I like the fact you can use states from fencer with pikes/ stronger moves from swords etc. But the poor animation and lack of uniqueness and different moves makes it feel so sluggish and boring that fighting just doesn't feel exciting, or invigorating as it does on live.
May name on TC-Ep3 is Tel'darsa if anyone is around on there and fancies having a spar or two.

Right now there is literally NO POINT in using polearms. I am Master pikeman/master fencer/master brawler/tk 4000/swordsman 0402 and I can use all the pikeman specials with my fencer weapons.. and when I have a fencer weapon equipped I only have a little less defense than when I have a polearm equipped, not like those mods make much of a difference anyway. The fencer stun baton is a much stronger weapon than any pikeman weapon, I can use pikeman specials with it, and I have nearly the same defense when using it, so why bother using a polearm at all? Thats the one thing I really don't like about this CU, it seems like most ranged moves can be used by a ranged weapon, and same with melee.
