Ex you are right...and I did not even say Dixon was wrong...only that it was missing the point.
I play 2 chars....one is MHS/MCH and as Jalia I am DOC/PIKE and YES I can outdamage my swordsman anyday in PvE.
Sure we are gonna combine the best traits for effectiveness...but that is not the point.
I can play my MHS/MCH and not pull out a pet....still i can hold my own in battle.
If I as a pike fight a straight fencer, they are gonna win unless I have uber looted DOTS (which I do but thats not the point, we are again DEPENDANT, this time on loot)
Any TKA, FENCER, SWORDS, RIFLE etc can hold their own even though their skill are also better used in combination with other.
They can use crafted weapons and still be powerful. They can use their skill points for a crafting profession if they want and STILL COMPETE.
A Pikeman with only crafted weapons and no secondary combat professions is TOAST in PvP and thats what I call broken.
Dont get me wrong. I am patient and dedicated to my prefession. 6 months from now I will still be a loyal pike-wielder.
I bet 90% of the people who pick up pike for the DOTs learn the hard way what a tough professions it is and move on in short order.
Pike is broken, just look at half our skill mods that people try to sell us on crappy looted junk pikes. They are BROKEN (pole counter, damage, evasion, you get the idea)

PvE = Pikeman Rule
PvP = Pikemen Run
And PvP is according to SOE the pinnacle of the game and it's highest level of entertainment. (ie: GCW hahaha)

You could always get a nice mindpoison/mindfire lance, hit them run, and have anyone else that hits mind come and finish him off hehe.

ok i know pikeman got issiues but....learn how to make the best of the prof for god sakes 
were riot controll....meaning...go in the middle of the group and aly stats to severla ppl (blind, dizzy, stun, kd) at the same time and let the single handed ones do the rest
we do the fulcral support, yes we got loads of stuff to work out but were not that bad
if we are....explain how i beat a fencer....i was unbuffed, no armour, (so was he).....intimidate first, then blind, then dizzy, then sweep (done with a mind dot lance) hes on the florr, cures dizzy and heals health, his mind drops by doing it, already with the tik, blind and intimidate wont let him dodge, hit3 hit3 hes defeated

well yeah i got lucky all the stats stick but if you do intimidate, lind stiks for sure, a fencer is useless bling since his dodge and defences drop to almost nuthing
yeah pikey has all the problems of a brokes prof, that least to be underestimated y others and with a bit of cleverness we may actualy make a diference
you may say "if fencer was unbuffed and armoured you wouldnt win" never know, probably not but...nerf is on its way, im afraid we might be the ones feeling it more but....well see

You explained it yourself
You hit him with a mind DoT, he foolishly made it worse by healing, he lost. The rest is just a way to pass time until the DoT kills him.Admittedly, DoTs are a tool we can use (and are utterly reliant on), but I'd hardly call them a strength of the class itself. If the loot tables governing Nightsisters broke tonight we'd all be back to square one once our weapons decayed out.
I dueled a 1/2/1/2 fencer with both of us buffed but unarmored, normal crafted weapons only. I had her constantly stunned, intimidated, dizzy, bleeding, and often knocked down. I only barely won, and if my last kd hadn't stuck I would have lost. That's with using every skill and state in the pikeman arsenal against a low-level fencer. The number of times I've been able to beat a master of another melee profession without using DoTs I can count on one finger.
Poison wins fights, not pikemen. If any other class had the DoTs we do they'd destroy us easily.

poison was a perk...i won by exausting his health....i used poison to keep him worried aout something wile nglecting the other.....poison didnt win, me the pikeman did

Should of just asked another M pikemen how bad Pike is in pvp. Dots are just retarded save against CM's. Mind Poison/Desease/Fire on a CM and then not DBing in my opinion is what a CM asks for when they whip out the overpowered desease/poison. If they want to **edit** and whine about it they should change their profession to be treated more fairly or just stay out of pvp till their nerfed to bring them back in line to avoid being griefed cause until then. Everyone knows as well asthem you DB a CM 1 thing will happen they clone run right in tossing poisons and desease all over again. I used to laugh @ people that DB'd me when I was a CM. Muttering to myself idiot. You just stopped the mind dease on me and gave me the ability to come right back and reign down my overpowered death.

i use poison as a diversion has it doesnt do actual damage unless uber poison or panic, the lance i used did 122 for 40 sec (crap) but enouth to create panic, as a "riot controler" panic is my best friend
yes CMs overpowered in pvp cus theyre PVP mods not working, same damage in PVP as in PVE....one thing to say to that, let them have theyre fun, the nerf is near

If you have tactics and a fairly good DOT lva/vl its not that bad.

Ex TKM, MHS, Master Brawler, Mstr Rifle, pistoleer, smuggler, BH..blah blah. to many. here
I am 1 combat box from master pike and its had its ups and downs to say the least. I have done well in finding/buying good pikes.
The most valuable leveling food award goes to Citros Snowcake. +40something to accuracy.
other things of note: I have +11 is speed tapes and +11 is accuracy tapes. boy is it a difference.
I will also be master rifle again, master brawler. +5 speed, intimidate2, warcry2 nice adds as well as some more toughness and things Rifle helps melee and ranged D,added block,and quite a few others. blah blah...techie
I have every main type of DOT lance cept health fire which I am searching out now.
Here is PvP duel I will be testing soon. opinions welcome. compliments loved. flames I will take too 
prefight prep:
buffed fully
Enable COB loop.
eat citros snowcake (accuracy )
eat synthsteak (-42% damage for 26 attacks)
hopeully get a vercupte down (1000 to all 3 bars), may have to come up with something else here(think I could down a syntheak 20min ahead of time)
drink 2 brandys (400 to mind, focus, willpower each)
fight:
intimidate2 (if I get dizzy/kd'd that will 1/2 thier dmg)
dizzy, sweep(maybe) (I don't plan on this working though)
stick 2-3DOTs
warcry2 (to wait for ticks)
peace
hit3 if health dots
leg3 if action dots
kite with jawa an headshot3if mind dots
rinse and repeat as needed.
What do you all think?

guess what, if you have no skills, don't come prepared, have a crappy template overall, & are a retard, YES, PIKEMAN Sucks.
just because you can't spam your favorite special fast enough to hit the "I win" level doesn't mean any prof sucks
learn to use the skills you are given, if you can't, get new skills, if you can't figure out how to do that, go back to playing The Sims
