Thread: Pikeman truly sucks in PvP!

I was so dissappointed with master pikeman, Ive tested PvP all week with it, needless to say Im glad I only dropped swordsman to 0444, well now Im master swordsman again. Pikeman was great to look at, but really didnt know how bad they were in PvP, what a let down. I hope they fix u all soon.

lets a tka that has not made master kd me and i could not get up. (i am master pike and 1,1.2 4 fencer) a tka can meditate and stand there with no armor and not use any specials and beat me in pvp. what could possibly be wrong in this? lets try this in real life meditate for 10 years and give me a sharp pole to hit you with and i'm sure it won't hurt a bit.

Sorry that you ground out the profession for no reason... but: If you'd spent 10 minutes looking through this board, you would have found out that we dont just suck in PvP.... we realy suck.

Pikeman is all about the DoT's. Sorry to say but without them we arent that great.. but with nice DoTs you can be awsome

Gee Mavarus, thanks for pointing out something the entire Pikeman community has been saying for some months now. We suck in PvP, right, who exactly doesn't know that? We have crap speed, crap damage, crap defences, crap toughness, the only thing that does look good is the special animations other than that, fencers have higher DPS with their gaffis than we do. Unless of course you spend hours to find some speed tapes but that does negate the fact that a profession needs to be playable on its own without addons from other profs.
Anyway...

Yeah, I made a character on another server, because i always wanted to try pikeman. Well Im 4043 right now, I dueled a 2121 or something TKA... I could barely hit him, And when I did, with hit 2 it was rarely over 100 damage, and thats not a joke... I dont know what was with the crap damage, he wasnt wearing armor or anything. I was using a NORMAL pike. 375 max, sliced for speed. Oh yeah, thats right, in order to beat a freaking novice TKA I should have to get a 900 max damage pike and +25 speed skill tapes. Maybe i shouldnt test pikeman at my level, but still, a TKA that I have twice as many skills as murdered me... Really sad..
Sorry if that post sounded completely retarded, 4:30 am here.

No wonder you got battered if you were using a normal lance.
The minimum damage on those things is so low they get murdered by melee mitigation.

Before I decided to go back to swordsman, I dueled a master swordsman with my master pikeman, I swear I did not hit him once, all I saw was counter this and counter that. Its sad really because the swordsman are complaining how gimp they are in PvP, i wish they would all just look at pikeman for a second and maybe they would hold their tongues and feel lucky they arent as broke. Pikeman deserves some love more than anyother profession, well, along with MBH. SRy if I stated the obvious, I was just really excited doing pikeman, it was fun and cool animation, just didnt realize how it could be so good in PvE and suck in PvP.

**edit** you guys talking aobut? Pikeman is good in PvP if you know how to use it. Sure you have to use different' profs ALONG with it. Pike is the shiz cause you use your disease, poison, then fire.. and if they are unarmored then just smack them. If they are then you simply switch and like me hit them with swords or TKM... You just have to know whats going on and how to use your prof. I sometimes will dizzy my enemy with TK and them use lunge with pikeman and they stay down so I can slap on 4-5 Dot's.

We are DEPENDANT on OTHER PROFESSIONS to be COMPETITIVE.

All professions more effective combined with others, some are unfortunately inherently weaker than others.
As a MHS I inflict far more damage than using my pikes, however pikeman gives me 3 things I dont get as a swordsman.
DoTs
Knockdowns
Status Effects
I can area Blind and Dizzy with fencer, area knockdown with my LVA and then start slamming area 3 with a scythe or powerhammer.
Each on their own is FAR less effective than the combination. Swordsman lack state effects and defence, fencers lack damage, Pikeman lack defences and while the damage is good, its still a little on the low side.
If Im playing solo I want my opponents blind, stunned and, ideally, lying on the ground dizzied.
3 three weapon melee professions compliment each other nicely, we have 250 skillpoints to play with. Any one profession on its own will be owned by a stacked character, with multiple melee masteries.
Pikes needs attention, but it's not totally broken - it has it's good points
Plentiful Loot weapons that are worth using
Area status effects
Looks cool (IMHO - I always carry an LVA)
I've been comprehensively outdamaged by a pikeman slicing through a big pack of tough nightsisters like a red-hot chainsaw through warm butter, however it did turn out he was speedcapped and using a trulysick LVA.
