Thread: Were bleeds nerfed?
Meh. Don't really care. Never used the bleeds anyway.
*waits for evil and hateful flames to follow remarks*
I think this is the big change:
Correct me if I am wrong, but didn't the pre-patch bleeds cause no initial damage? You would see the hit in your spam & floaty, but nothing would be deducted from their bars for about 15 seconds.
Now, there is immediate damage (which appears to be pretty high) and a lower DOT. So I guess in short battles that is fine, but over a long battle it sux.
But I think I understand why.
With the upcoming change in which DOTs from one person do not stack, but DOTs from different people stack (10 pikemen hitting action hit 2) they HAD to lower the damage over time. Otherwise, with 10 pikemen, you could have 15k (or better with more people) worth of bleeds on one target, on one HAM pool.
Sounds great to me
But like I said, I can see how the devs would see that as a problem.
You would still get damage off an initial hit. They said it was supposed to be raise to compensate but it doesn't look like it. Anyone can confirm this?, I wouldn't know I'm at work now and was mostly PvP last night.
It does hurt and requires the assembly of very large groups. Otherwise bleeds are essentially useless. I feel bad for the swordsmen, must be pissing off a few carbineers too, I used to be able to place some good bleeds with my carb and add the pike bleed, loverly
Not no more, I don't mind everyone being set back a lil, but I think the reduction was a lil harsh. I wonder ifthey could make the bleeds operate off a curve, ie. 1 bleed of 300, 2 bleeds 400 total, 3 for 500 or something along those lines. But to be fair they would have to scale down initial bleeds as more stacked...I just don't see the take, replace the effects almost 10:1? What one man could do now needs 10 individuals? Thats a lil much.

Not to parrot the Devs, but with the HAM changes comming up, I think bleeds will still be effective, if Im right as you battle your over all HAM numbers drop, say you star with 1000 action, do a few specials it drops you down to 500 Action, meanwhilethe 50-100 point bleed you were hit with at the start will be a real pain as the battle wears on...
Sure, but if that's the case, they should wait until the HAM changes hit before they nerf bleeds. As it stands, all they've done is curtail my ability to solo.

It seemed like it. My actionhits were doing like 1500 initial damage.
Oh, and regarding Iodan's post- didn't DoT's from multiple people already stack? I haven't tried this in a while, but myself and a Carbineer friend used to hunt on Endor by stacking our Action bleeds. Did they nerf that sometime recently?
No, I am pretty confident that you could not stack the a bleed from multiple people of the same profession.
For example: You could have a Carbineer (Action Shot 1 & 2) land two bleeds, and a Pikeman (Action Hit 1 & 2) land two bleeds on a mob's Action Pool (4 total). But, you could not have two Pikeman land Action Hit 1 & 2 on the same mob for 4 total. Long story short, you could never have more than 4 bleeds on a pool at any given time.
With the upcoming changes, now you can have 2 (or 3, or 10) bleeds on a single pool as long as they are from different people.
I am 95% sure that DOTs before yesterday's patch did no damage until the first tick of the bleed. I had many instances in which I would pistol bleed a target from range or start a fight with my Action Hit and not get aggro (Unless I missed
). The spam box would tell you that you "Sap Shot for 560" but nothing would come off the bar.
I say 95% & pretty confident because I haven't figured out how to go back in time and test it.... Yet. As soon as I figure out time travel, I have some things to say (and do) to a few old girlfriends of mine before I test it out.
I will let you know

I'm having a very hard time imagining a situation where doing 200 damage every 20 seconds would acutally be useful. I suppose if one wanted to inflict a slow, painful, death on every gnort, chuba, and kreetle one came across, bleeds as they currently stand could come in handy...
yup, I just signed on this morning and noticed my bleeds were borked. Looking in the combat spam I see that I still get the message "you use limb-smasher for 500 points" but when the damage actually ticks over the MOBs head I see "50". Which, as you said, makes bleeds completely pointless now. Another good job SOE - lets all go back to attacking chubs outside Keren.
Now as far as I knew, the only thing happening to bleeds were that you would be unable to stack them (which was fair enough to me). Was this a last minute change that SOE forgot to tell us about? (again). Sometimes this *edit* game really *edit* me off.
Also, on an unrelated note, I thought this patch was supposed to allow the calling of pets/droids/speeders etc without the use of a camp? If it was, then it isnt working (for me at least).
boy sony has just about got me to the point where i just dont want to play this game anymore. The bleeds were the only thing i liked about pikeman. Because the rest of the profession sucks. TKMs can kill us in about 10 seconds and now are bleeds are gone. Ridiculous. Then i get master merchant for my next holo profession. What the hell does merchant have to do with Jedi? This game is starting to lose its appeal to me. Im just about ready to cancell it. Annoying. Nerf the damn TKAs and Commandos. There like gods. Commandos are about the only professions you can PVP with it seems. Boring.
