Thread: CoB Question
The you need a macro that will loop COB:
Eg call it centre (Being English this is my way of rebelling against the SWG spelling!)
And simply add these 3 lines:
/center;
/pause x;
/macro centre
Where x is the duration of your COB. When it runs out, you will automatically COB again
I'm not having the problems you're listing. The main issue I've encountered is that you must be stationary during Center of Being in order for it to have any effect. I finally settled on the following macro as a reasonably-reliable way of doing CoB, and I cease all activities during the warm-up stage.
macro CoB:
/tell [My character name here] Center of Balance;
/pause 1.75;
/ui action clearCombatQueue;
/pause 0.25;
/stopfollow;
/pause 0.25;
/CenterOfBeing;
/pause 10;
/follow;
/pause 28;
/macro CoB;
I normally use /follow to stay close to my intended targets ( those pesky Imperials tend to try to back up ), so my macro includes statements to stop following, and then follow again after enough time has elapsed that I'm pretty sure CoB has fired and is complete.
I use the /tell Oswe Center of Balance; at the top of the macro just to send a tell to myself that CoB is getting ready to fire. I get the "new tell" beep-beep through the speakers, and it helps remind me to be "hands-off" until CoB has a chance to fire.
This can be done better by hand than by macro, but I'm too busy waffling between what attacks to use to take advantage of it. The above macro works well for me 90% of the time or more. The long "hands-off" time ( usually about 5-6 seconds ) used to irk me, but I've come to realize that by the time it loops around, I normally need a little break just to recover mind or action points anyway, so it all works out in the end.
I have found if you move at all while it is firing it won't stick. I have found that if you hit it and hit a special right after it doesn't always stick.
This actually makes sense if you think about it. In order to achieve this skill a person would have to stop and focus. They wouldn't be running and hacking away at something.
Is it just me or does it just seem wrong that you should have to put together a macro like that to get CoB to work as intended?
Furthermore, as Master Doc / TKM I have found that looping CoB macros interfere with my ability to heal others in my group during combat. I stopped using my CoB macro.
I still have problems with CoB not firing before, during, and between combat rounds. Often, in the middle of combat when CoB has gone down, I have to Heal / CoB / Heal / CoB / Heal / CoB / Heal /CoB before it gets going again. Other times I am able to CoB as soon as I see the icon fade out and it works. It is just extrememely buggy - no ifs, ands, or buts.
If, in fact, there is a requirement that you be absolutely still to invoke CoB, then it is nearly useless in group combat because there are frequently mutliple targets to fight and there is often no gap between one fight and another. As a tank, it is my job to taunt as much agro onto me as I can to defend the other professions... I often have 2-3 mobs on me at the same time. There are very few moments of 'absolute stillness'.
But, ok, there are moments before battle begins and we should be able to invoke CoB at such times... except that I find that CoB often doesn't work at all until I have struck at least one blow -- in other words, until I am in combat. I almost never get CoB to work before attacking an enemy. Like I said, it is very, very bugged.
