I'll be honest. I haven't played with COB since it first came out and I wasnt' very impressed with it then. But I've raised my defense line and I'm wondering how useful COB is to everyone, and how often people use it.

BTW *ding* I think I just hit form veteran

COB is my best friend since we only get I think around 20 melee def points. So if you dont want to get hit I suggest you think about using it more often. I know it's saved me more times thenI can count.

CoB is one of those skills that really isn't incredibly useful until you hit master.

It becomes even more useful w/ master brawler.

I disagree. I used it all the time while leveling, and I still use it at master. It will increase the effectiveness of your defenses, and you will see counterattack firing more often when you use it. Undeniably, Erryk is correct that it is more useful at master and even better when stacked with Master Brawler bonuses, but thena sword is more effective than a knife, but if I am being attacked and all I have to defend myself with is a knife, I do not discard theknife because it is not a sword.

I didn't mean to say that CoB was useless until master--because it is definitely very helpful in certain situations. I guess i meant to say that you don't really get that "OMG i'm invincible" feeling until you get master.

Hey, guys, I'm hoping to finish up my Armorsmith orders this week, then start the road back up Pikeman (started as Pike/Armorsmith hopes). I have a question about the Center of Balance.

How does this work? Do you turn it on, and then just sit there and hope? Do you fill your queue with CoB CoB CoB PH3 CoB? I've been a Master Carbineer tank for my friends to help them level (80% kinetic comp tank--not using my counterattack that much...heh). What I really want to do is start doing the bigtime content with my friends/guildmates. I'd like to get me a nice NS Lance/Vibroaxe. Maybe even get me an Energy Pike.

What are y'all's experiences with CoB and does it help for PVE only, or can you use in PVP as well?

CoB is a must-use (once you get enough efficacy and duration, otherwise it's not worth the mind cost) in pvp or pve. You will find yourself blocking (with pikes) much more often and will save you many times. You hit CoB, then continue with regular fighting, it does not go in the queue, gets executed the very next move after your current delay and can be used again immediately after it wears off.

I heard using CoB as a master pikeman would be as committing sucide. When you swith it on, you'll start blocking every attack instead of avoiding some of them, which means that nearly every shot will hit you with 1/2 damage.

I was told never to use it except against a high defense/low attack oponent (like a fencer)

I can't say I've tested this empirically, but in my experience it seems to help more than it hurts.

However, I sort of hope you're right. Block seriously needs to stop giving 1/2 damage, and if we could prove it's actually more harmful than it is helpful maybe we could get it fixed. Time to start testing, I guess.

Hi all,

I've recently reach TKM and have notice that COB 'seems' to aid my defence. I say seems because I haven't really investigated the numbers (it's not my thing) but I don't take as many hits when its on (at least I think I don't - must play this game sober and check).

I know Fencer COB is a must but does TKM COB actuallydo anything?

Thanks in advance and apologies for what I'm sure is yet another COB question but I didn't noticed any posts about it.

ive just gotten TKM recently too, and ive noticed a big difference in the way CoB works. i dunno if its my belt with +10 counterattack but when i hit CoB i counterattack alot more than without. before i was TKM everyone told me it was broken... but they were wrong it really does work and it works nice for me
