I find that COB works great if I start right before combat. I have a 99.9% stick on the first try. I stop for a good second, then fire it. It might be one of those things like the old travel ticket bug where the system thinks youare stillrunning

As far as keeping it going in combat...As a tank I generally can stand still most of the time. As TKM/MD if things go well my ranged folks should never even get hit. I should be keeping the aggro on me. Ihave found that when I hit COB and immediately hit a special before the yellow bar was done it fails sometimes.

If I have to move to heal someone, and sometimes if someone pops 3 or 4 critters at a time it isdifficult to hold aggro since we have low dmg output, you may have to move around some. Then it becomes a timing issue. I would say taunt, COB, heal other player.

most ppl know that the bar that u see when u innitate CoB is the warm up bar...no matter wat you do the warm up bar will always go to completion (not sure if this is a bug) but if you move or are hit hard enough during this time period the mod will not stick...so just becuz u see the bar go to completion does not mean that the mod will stick.

As of last night (Aus time) I could get CoB to restick before it dropped, same with doc buffs

Don't get comfortable with your looping macro's, they'll be going away. May as well learn and get good at firing it off when you need it.

Any chance you'd care to share the source of this information, outside of rumor or speculation?

If they go away, it's no problem for me. With the new state icons, blink warning, and ability to refresh, it's easy enough to keep up CoB without a problem. Still, I was unable to find any official reference on these ( rather unorganized ) forums to the removal of looping macros in SWG.

The guys who will have the biggest problems will be the AFK entertainers, doctors, and spammers. Of the three, the last category I won't miss in the slightest.

Thanks for the link, I read the first / last page in detail and scanned a few of the others ( 50 pages of frequent whining and no developer interaction after the first post isn't my idea of fun ).

It would be interesting to know if this -- nearly a year later -- is still the intended direction of the developers. After all, the game they're supporting now is vastly different than the one listed as of a year ago. The original dev poster is still active and obviously wields some influence at SOE, so it's still a viable possibility.

In the mean time, I won't lose any sleep over it. While I have the ability, it's one less thing I have to go clicking on in the middle of combat. And when/if it goes away, it's easy enough to add one click every 45 seconds.

I am still learning here, so I may sound clueless but...

Why do you want CoB always looping on a macro anyway?

It gives you extra defense right? But is it not true that while it is running your offensive damage output is drastically lowered? So you are hard to hit, but you also cannot hit hard.

I mean, is this coming from a tanking and PvE aspect? I guess if you were just trying to stand if front of a Krayt to hold it in place until your riflemen buddies can take it out, then you might as well go for max defense and hope for the best.

But in PvP or even some PvE situations it seems you would only want to use it if the situation called for it, like when you are rooted, otherwise you are making it harder for them to hit you sure, but you are not dealing any significant damage, so what is the stategy for the win? Do you just hope your weak hits can slowly wear them down before their weak hits wear you down?

Just wondering what the theory is behind a CoB macro always running.

Thanks! If I understand it, I might use it!

Don't know where you read that dmg dealing is reduced but that's not true, you do the same dmg with or without CoB.

With CoB all dmg done to you is dramatly reduce (querks do normaly around 168 dmg to me with CoB on around 55 per hit and often even miss)

Find my in game and duel me, I've over 545 DPS on my VL and with CoB and knocking you down all 30 secs you want stand a chance when I get near you, with medic you heal yourself when routed or use Swordflurry and ParryAttack to drop down dmg deal to you while routed.

CoB runns for 45 secs, SF for 10 secs and PA for 5 secs.

When hitting I've 2 macros where i always begin with knockdowns then normaly comes my DOTs attacks from Pikeman and after that the real attack and knockdown, armorbreak, leghit, impale and headhit I do over 3000 dmg

try a simple macro:

/centerOfbeing;

/pause 47

/macro (name of center macro)

and assigning it to a key. i use control+B. works fine most of the time, but if i see it not stick, i just control+b again and start another macro.

sometimes i end up with 6 macro's running, and i'll /dump and start fresh, but it works okay.

or take the macro out completely and just assign it to a key for quick access.

Good idea Jeisyn .

I did not think of setting it to something like ctrl+b. in fact, not sure if i even realized i could set a macro that way, hehe. I just use the F keys, and i do actually have CoB sitting up there. I was going to swap that for the CoB macro, but now i am going to look into useing some ctrl+(whatever) for assignment. My F keys are already full (at least one bank, and i would rather not flip between F key set, too confusing) so using ctrl+(whatever) might be just the thing to allow me to add more macros.

Hit ctrl+CoB icon to make it automatically refire as it becomes available. Have had it set this way for a week and a half now, and I'll never set anything else as my default 'battle action' , unless they upgrade the upgrade to a real upgrade. I'll decide then what if anything needs to be done.

I start with a Lunge. Even if my target is 'out of range' I'm now officially participating in melee, and AdvCoB will continue to fire every 45 sec until melee is over. It lets me concentrate on doing damage and / or healing groupmembers as needed, without worrying about it. Also, haven'[t noticed that CoB uses action pool. Maybe it does and I'm too busy to notice.
