I wanted to stop in and say thank you for helping NewJedi collect these ideas. This is very helpful. We do have some things planned for you in the near future, but its very important to me that if I make a promise about whats is coming, that its really coming. Because of that, I dont want to announce things until a month or so before a publish. Things change so much.

Even still, I know you guys are patient. Game development takes a long time and this is a very big game world. Lists like this are very helpful in the process. For instance, NewJedi just gave me a long list of ideas based on your posts.

I keep that list in a notebook. When an opportunity comes up for me to get a chance to add something, I make the suggestion. We do have some goodies coming up though. Ill announce them as soon as everything is released for publish.

If you want cool ideas and not only from musicians, maybe you could stop by the "Core System" topic!

Never seen any rednames there!

What is the purpose of that topic then?

How about giving us our reward for voting for Victor in the Bestine election. Atleast let us know what the problem is.

When it comes to live events I fear I'm always where they are not. I would like to see a system message or an e-mail about what is happening, like "Droids are attacking theed the empire/Naboo Police request your help" This might not be such a big deal if these events happened on a daily basis per each server, that would satisfy me.

On the kind of events I have no ideas, because I haven't seen any of the existing ones I feel I can't offer an educated oppinion.

Um, guys? We finally get a lovely red name back here...can we keep it on topic?

The majority of ideas come in three flavors, excluding the 'bard-ish' ones.

1) redesign gig missions so they are a reasonable source of income compared to destroy missions or even just deliver missions

2) Make entertainers in cantinas get a pop-up window at random intervals that asks them to play a different song/dance in exchange for an NPC tip and XP boost (XP boost should be enough to make playing SW1 a viable alternative to staying on Ballad). The tip could be in item form rather than credit but should be specified in the accept dialog.
Varient: the dialog halts all XP gains until the job is accepted or turned down.

3) Keep a record of how many individuals have listened/watched various entertainers for galactic, planetary, and local audiances. The topped ranked in a category is given a reward for that popularity.

In order to make the game a little more interesting, why not add Player Characters(could be a staff member)that are roleplaying specific roles based on a a specific mission or game event. Would be cool to see Darth Vader in Coronet for instance and actually have him converse with people. An example would be the a player character leading a npc raid on a city. In other words npc like character actually controlled by someone. Have Han Solo stroll thur Mos Entha on occasion. Or have Jabba Randomly select an actual player character and throw him to the Sarlac. Most people would think it was cool and take lots of screenies. Easy to implement, and would have huge "fun" factor. Make it interesting run contests for the opportunity to be Darth vader for a day or Hans Solo or whoever. Just a wild idea

I have an idea that would change the way a musician is shown in SWG. When I first bought this game, I thought to myself “Oh boy! What should I be?” I came to focus on two professions.
1) Musician
2) Commando

I chose Commando, because musician was lacking something important, something crucial…. Composing! Composing is what a musician (like myself) dreams of. This is the way it should be in SWG. What good is composing?
1) Make YOUR OWN songs!
2) Will help reduce the AFK issues
3) Introduces creativity and excitement into the universe
4) Player made Content!
5) Don’t have to cry and whine to the devs for new songs!

I have seen programs online that make it easier to compose, and believe me composing can get very addicting so be careful . Websites likewww.activebass.com click on make a line, very easy to create. I would be just a “point and click” aspect, really simple, click either on a line or space on the music sheet, to make a note, when u click on it, it would make a sound, so u can hear the sound the note makes before you continue.

Also, another addition to this would be to make your songs tradable, just drag it to your fellow musician buddy, and give him your song. He can then transpose it to HIS style or the way HE thinks it should be, or make an accompaniment along with your song! (You are able to make an accompaniment too; by the way, you just need the instrument that you want to accompany your song.) Then you can just attach it to your previous song that you made. The Composing option should be available when you reach the musician title, “Composer”, it just makes sense. Being a Composer that can’t compose, does not.

I do not believe there would be much of a download to hear someone’s song. Nor lag, but I guess that is up to the devs . I hope they see this. /prays.

I wish you had a team that their only job was to participate in live events. Maybe 15 minutes per server per day on a random schedule. To me its better if its random, that way people cant prepare for it and it will seem more spontaneous.

yes, but remember, if u don't want to listen to other music you don't have to, that's what "stop listening" is for

In that case I'll just point to the far stronger copywright infringement.

Also, I was actually referring to I don't want to know what kind of horrible screeching *I* would make with such a system.

A new hybrid class "Crime Boss" with requirements of Underworld 4 from Smuggler and Master Politician in which you can run your own city with an iron fist.

You can make bounty hunter missions for the terminals on PC players, but YOU have to pay the money to the BH for the mission, and you could also have people come to you and pay you to have a bounty placed... It makes for possible grieving but since it requires a lot of different skills to get the class it would significantly lower the chance of idiot people.

Since there are illegal items in the game now you could have a black market in your city to sell items without being scanned by Imperial forces...

I had a bunch of ideas but now of course as I write this I have a brain fart and forget most of them.. I'm sure this idea appeals to some and if the devs like the idea could branch their own ideas from it...

I was glad to see TH stop by this thread. And yes, I did just summarize its contents for him in a mega-post on the Correspondent Forum. So keep those ideas coming, folks.

TH

At the risk of annoying you even more, and making you love DE less (if that is humanly possible)

My suggestion for 'cool gameplay ideas' would be to do droids like they should be, and stop messing about.

It is constructive for everyone that useful droids be implimented for everyone's benefit. Please do not respond (as if you would) with the old 'see the Pub 8 proposals'..the items there do not give players what they want. Pub 8 look like having the same inpact as Pub7 as far as useful droids are concerned.

Where is the imagination that developers are supposed to have?

I don't suppose you wanted to hear that, but there, I said it anyway.

Hopefully
