Thread: Brainstorming thread: post your cool gameplay ideas for the devs to consider here
Listening to a person counts as a vote. Listening to a band counts as a vote for each person playing when you started listening. A player' vote can only be counted once per performer. That might be tricky but I'm going to press along.
Each Cantina has an ad station in the front. It lists the local leaders in musician and dance, the planetary leaders, and the galactic leader. Individual information could pop up on /examine as a badge.
At the end of the month, the leaders (possibly the top 3 rather than number one) for each galaxy, planet, and city is given a reward. Nothing big, save for the galactic leader who should get something truly noteworthy. Wipe the records and run it for the next month.
Possible balance points: one person cannot get galactic leader twice in two months for the same field and/or is penalized to start at negative fame the month after victory rather than 0. A third competition for 'mixed' entertainers who dance and play.

NPC-"pet" band members - would function like a pet that would take your commands to preform various songs.
have these npcs be abtainable through musician npc trainers at a cost of credits?. choice of npcs who play different instruments, but have your skill level be the prerequisite for getting higher level instruments or "dazzles" for npc band members. when preforming with npc band members the player should have a heal or buff bonus.
I wanted to stop in and say thank you for helping NewJedi collect these ideas. This is very helpful. We do have some things planned for you in the near future, but its very important to me that if I make a promise about whats is coming, that its really coming. Because of that, I dont want to announce things until a month or so before a publish. Things change so much.
Even still, I know you guys are patient. Game development takes a long time and this is a very big game world. Lists like this are very helpful in the process. For instance, NewJedi just gave me a long list of ideas based on your posts.
I keep that list in a notebook. When an opportunity comes up for me to get a chance to add something, I make the suggestion. We do have some goodies coming up though. Ill announce them as soon as everything is released for publish.

That's too close to bards from EQ, something the devs have repeatedly said is not going to happen.
One of the few things I see as a GOOD thing NOT to have.
Also, I'm shocked. A dev posted on this forum. *sings* Happy birthday to me...
Yes, thats correct Rygger AND Happy Birthday to you ![]()
FWIW, remember that this is a socially driven profession. Things like the EQ Bard professions are more combat oriented (since everything in the game is combat oriented). The Entertainers, Musicians andDancers are meant to be more socially driven, since thats what they playstyle for the class is.

Ill send a link to Pex so he can peek in...
George Carlin once said, "I have all kinds of great ideas... problem is, most of 'em suck."
Here are mine, mostly derivative of a few of the other great ideas posted:
I really like the idea of player-owned casinos. They're venues for both entertainment and shady dealings. Therefore, the requirements for placing one should be Master Dancer/ or Master Muscian and Smuggler Underworld 4. The buildings themselves should be gigantic ten-lot structures with a gaming room, a PvP duelling arena, a showroom, assorted office-size rooms, and a second floor living quarters for the owner. "House" money from gaming would go first into the building's maintenance and the remainder into the owner's pocket. There could also possibly be an interface for paying an entry fee to fight in the arena. 60% to the winner, 30% to the loser, and 10% to the building owner. A system would have to be put in place though to encourage people to fight in the arena, though... possibly a wager terminal and a "rules" terminal that would set the ground rules for the fight (healing allowed/disallowed, deathblows on/off, armor on/off, etc). The show room would have an entry fee and all paid entrants receive full mind buffs from whoever is playing, whether musicians or dancers or both.
Possibly the fastest way to make money in the game with the fewest skillpoints alloted would be through combat. But amid all the afk holotainers, there are those who literally ARE entertainers and as such have insufficient skillpoints for enough combat to be effective in making money. Someone suggested that Master Musicians or Master Dancers could "perform" during a battle to increase mind regeneration for the group. I'll take that one step further and offer it as a Squad Leader type, passive function of having a master in the group. As long as the master is in the group and in range, the mind (dancer), or focus and willpower (musician) of all group members is buffed to 50%. This could maybe be an actual skill such as a Squad Leader's, which causes some depletion of the entertainer's action pool dependant upon the size of the group. This way the entertainer could choose to be out in the field with a large hunting group, while providing a constant and renewable bonus, and still be able to elect to shoot and enjoy the combat side if he/she prefers. Battle Fatigue healing in camps should also be put back in, giving scouts and rangers something to do with their camps now that they're no longer needed for vehicles and pets.
The song/dance quests are also a fantastic idea. The enlightened soul who one-starred that post must have been mauled by an evil Image Designer. Maybe playing a song or dancing for a specific NPC in a specific theater grants fragments of the "Schematic" for the new song/dance. Or maybe the Musician can solo a Krayt with his slitherhorn and just get the whole thing
With buffs/armor/food/spices the way they are these days, I'm half inclined to think it's possible ![]()
Anyway, those are a few of my elaborations on previous ideas. Remember, without entertainers, we'd all still have 1k battle fatigue from that one time we tried the /activateclone thing when no one was looking and thoguht it was fun enough to try a few more times ![]()
